Believing that he should be given the chance to bring in his own players doesnt mean anyone pro Barton thinks hes any kind of Messiah. It just means they are prepared to give him that chance exactly as some of us did with Garner this time last year. It may prove right or wrong only time will tell I'm prepared to give him that chance, but that certainly doesn't mean I'm giving him a free pass for all the unprofessional and downright damaging rants, and his results and our performances that led to us finishing comfortably bottom of the table. That's what irritates me, it's not that people want to give him a chance, I completely get that, it's the fact he's getting such an easy ride from some after what has frankly been a car crash of a tenure so far. That's fair enough. I cant speak for others but my reasoning for not being overly critical of the results is that we could all see the warning signs before he arrived. Of course I expected better points wise but I'm really not convinced anyone would have kept us up under those circumstances. Publicly calling out the previous managers was something I'm not sure was required but if the squad was that ill prepared (and the injuries & stats from 75 mins onwards would suggest they were) then why not highlight it, granted though negligence was too strong a word. Hes stated it's his sole responsibility now so for me it's time for the excuses to stop, last season is gone it's now time for him to deliver

Haven’t got my laptop but pretty sure he reduced the shots against and shots on target against considerably while maintaining if not increasing chance creation with his way of playing using the players available. You will recall the utter madness of some of our players decisions that caused goals and losses. We didn’t play sh**ter on the whole in fact we looked better and competed in majority of the matches.
He brought Walker and Martinez through into the first team who gave what they could and look likely to feature more next season too. If he didn’t would we have lost Martinez (you may not rate him but I do)
Throw points per game at it all you like, as a team and a unit we were better under joeys systems than any of the previous managers. We just made outrageous mistakes at the back and missed chance after chance up top due to the quality of players available.
My opinion of positives

We have been sh** for probably 6 months before DC left.
Coughlan got some very ugly results but I think we rode our luck in quite a few games that papered over the cracks.
Garner and Tisdale both failed spectacularly having each had a chance to bring in players.
Barton is doing something very different and bloody hell, do we ever need something different.
Will it work? No idea, but what we were doing is proven to be a failure.
If I were a betting man, I think Barton will destroy everything before falling out with someone once too often and will leave.
I honestly believe that his successor will benefit greatly from the much overdue shake up that Barton is undertaking.

Apart from results he's done a good job. You're a failing managers dream chairman mate. Please refrain from having an opinion Who is being denied an opinion?

Please refrain from having an opinion Who is being denied an opinion? Nobody yet. Just bored of the calls to close threads and the inference from people that anyone voicing a negative opinion of JB should now be quiet.

I don't think he'll be here long, and it might appear to be a bit of a car crash as we watch his time with us, but maybe it will be for the long term good of the club.

Look beyond results and league table and progress is there better than having a yes man telling you everything’s ok all the way to the conference

So far the only positive I've read is that he that he's good at telling everyone they're sh**. Great man management skills that. You don’t need to man manage people you are sacking.

Look beyond results and league table and progress is there better than having a yes man telling you everything’s ok all the way to the conference I’m a stats man and I could see easily a positive trend in performance metrics. I’ll always take into account the most important stat which is winning games and points but, no one bummed us under Barton. Tis had Accy and Garner had Fleetwood and Doncaster. Add to that the fact that at least 3 of Barton’s games was a team that knew they were relegated, contained a number of our higher quality players out injured and a f**ked off fanbase I still found that the stats remained consistent. I truely believe that with a few more components (the right players) added and a better quality pre season this will only get better. Once pre season was done this term it was pretty damn difficult to get the guys to convert to your style of play and playing phases given the fixtures so all of that will be in his favour when we start league 2. In my opinion UTG

Look he’s a smart guy he called the players out and called relegation early he knows what he’s doing. He said we weren’t good enough and culture bad and he was proved right good management. Some on here like pirate get it have faith and let him get on with it without questioning everything Are you having a fecking laugh? Seriously!? How the hell is "calling relegation early" and saying "we're not good enough" good management? He accelerated our relegation and ensured we went down quickly and easily and without a fight. If you think that's good management then you're either a WUM or you have a screw loose. no it was the useless players that sent us down, not JB. You could get Kopp in and still he wouldn't be able to save us from relegation

And who’s to say with some kind of yes manager like Tommy wid or Steve Cotterill we wouldn’t have done even worse and finished lower it’s all subjective. At least relegation is part of the cultural change where’s staying up under the above may have papered the cracks but seen us even worse going into next season ala Sunderland when they kept staying up by the skin or their teeth and didn’t change anything so went down twice! Now their managed by Lee Johnson ha ha at least we haven’t fallen that far

It was stated the players got us relegated and no manager could save us. What another manager may or may not have done is totally irrelevant to the point that under JB the players got worse and went from a position of safety to 5 points adrift at the bottom.

Better index in his little book of connections than tw@tty tw@ttington. A desire to succeed. Honesty. Desire. But he’s our manager, let’s see what his own team can achieve, then get the knives out. Or just don’t bother turning up. Stop moaning, cricket 🏏 seasons bubbling up nicely. Enjoy that instead like me. Up the cidermen

Oh dear can someone list all the things Garner and Tisdale dos for the club..we have been relegated, deservedly so, a good side would not have got relegated unfortunately we sign a load of player that are no good. Get over it already, Joey is going nowhere.
Let's give him a chance to build a squad of players we can be proud of.

So many contradictory comments, there are people saying that he is no good, but then claim he will be off as soon as another clubs comes in. So is Joey a good manager or not. Everyone wanted us to stay up, but can anyone honestly say we were not sh** from beginning to end. We gifted teams goals and just couldn't score goals.. what was Joey to do, we played 2 up front every game and neither could score. Our left back being the top scorer tells you everything you need to know about the season. Yes the results could have been better but at the end of the day, if the players don't score, you don't win matches.

So Barton will do a lot of good without actually getting results get sacked and whoever comes in will pick up the reigns and succeed. Kind of like Atkins - Trollope ?

Barton's remit was to keep us up and he failed spectacularly. Judging by his comments, he main focus is self-preservation and protecting his fragile ego.
