Three observations from yesterday:
1. A point away from home is always a good result. Sure, it could have been three but when you're down to ten (and nine) men the game can get very tough. 2. Pitman will score a lot of goals providing he stays fit and gets the right service. He also has the right attitude. He is infinitely better than any of our strikers last season - some who are still playing in a higher standard. 3. The sending off of Harries was a cruel decision. Sure, he was wasting time but a competent referee would have told him to get on with it. Delaying a throw in by 10 seconds is not a caution able offence. If that referee books players for taking that amount of time he will caution at least half a dozen every match. Pathetic decision by an official who has no knowledge of the nuances of professional football.
Still, let's be positive. The unbeaten run continues and the team is starting to play some decent stuff. For me the problem lays with the defence. We still concede too many goals for comfort.

We could get relegated back to non league and they would still want him to stay. Who's "they" as most of the regular forum posters appear quite balanced in their views? Just because we're not all begging Wael to sack Barton every time we drop pts and highlighting his previous crimes on every thread doesn't mean we'd support him regardless of our league status. On the fence again

Stoke programme last night v B'mouth featured Connor Taylor and says,'Connor Taylor goes from Strength to Strength at Bristol Rovers and is thriving in that environment but took a while to adjust to the pace and physicality of league two but after doing so has now put in several M O M displays'.

Although our defence changing from game to game can't help, with Harries missing it'll mean another change on Saturday, LB/LWB could be a real issue if Brown &/or Saunders haven't recovered with Harries and Clarke now also suspended.

Think squad will be disappointed not to win, as we all are having come so close but would we have taken a point before travelling? probably, so no need for us to feel negative and look to blame someone, it's football , stuff happens good and bad, it looks like we have turned that corner at last and can feel more confident about the future, all the signs are there that the squad are getting better match on match, onwards and upwards and as the Gods said to the soothsayer Sqiffyonius ' thy general Bartonius shall travel to the East with his troops and shall return to the homeland undefeated, they shall rest a short while and make ready to repel the Celtic invaders who are gathering at the waters edge ,ready to attack, The great sayer Sqiffyonius shall be made aware of the omens from the Gods and shall impart his learnings to General Bartonius, and the masses shall be made aware of these omens forthwith! PS great finish at Ashton! No, we wouldn't have taken a point. I wouldn't have anyway.

You clearly do, or you wouldn't comment, surely? To be honest it perked me up a little bit after a frustrating end to our game.

Obviously the ones who you class who don't appear quite balanced in their views
How about you ask Henbury who "they" is? No? Thought not lol
As for the line about "highlighting his previous crimes on every thread", I think you have the wrong person princess so take that crap elsewhere. Cheers hun.

You clearly do, or you wouldn't comment, surely? To be honest it perked me up a little bit after a frustrating end to our game. 5 minutes after we’ve threw away points the last thing on my mind is “oh at least City lost again!” A team two leagues above us losing will not perk me up. It is not relevant at all.

You have something seriously wrong as a gashead if you don’t feel a slight smirk of joy when our much better funded rivals (who allegedly burned down our stand, chased our players off the pitch because we equalised, defaced a memorial for the war dead and have generally been needlessly antagonistic for decades) see their dreams dashed again. Any other rivalry is rivalry but given their charge sheet on the stuff they’ve pulled on us, this isn’t rivalry, it’s rightful grievance.

We haven’t played each other in the league in TWENTY years. The only thing them losing does at the minute is keep them from making us completely irrelevant. It’s not funny it’s worrying

It’s not funny it’s worrying Part of the rivalry stems also from trying to attract supporters from the same pool, as City and Rovers have been attempting to do with varying degrees of success for the last 70 years. It stems from the fact that some of us will have uncles, cousins, brothers, nephews, even fathers that support City. We can’t say that about another club. So whilst the footballing element to our rivalry has been diminished admittedly for some time, the rivalry is still there and will probably always still be there as long as both clubs remain fairly well supported and in the football league.

I can never understand the posts which seem to delight in pointing out that they're 'light years ahead of us' in response to a post that they're losing, or failing at something. So what? Their failures are all the better for the fact they've wasted millions on mid table mediocrity and can't buy a win in their lavish stadium. Long may it continue

It’s not funny it’s worrying At the moment, no, we sadly aren't. However given their riches we'd be on a par within 3 years or so and we remain competitors for the local fanbase and local talent. The manner they lost and the fact they haven't won at home since January is funny whoever it was (apart from us of course, although the gallows humour would be evident). The fact it's them makes it even more so. Enjoy the banter while we can, that's what makes football.
