Imagine the scenes when an actual fake sheik gets his hands on them, after all their taunts about WAQ.
Wouldn’t you just love to see it

I think his latest statement shows a real desperation to sell up now and quickly 🤔 he's obviously losing lots of money on a weekly basis with them lot and as a previous poster mentioned is the whole of his bristol sport company up for sell too or is it just the football club he wants shot of?

I wouldn’t get too excited yet going by that article.
No surprise though. He’s clearly losing interest.

Taint the first time a ted has run away .... Down Filton Ave, a few of em in 2007 as I remember!?
He's been receding spotlight and control behind scenes for a while.... only a matter of time before implosion.

I always though it was said he’d keep the sh** in the family and his son would take over one day .

It seems a bit of a rambling statement I would be concerned if Wael had made it, on the one hand he says they are not actively looking for investors/to sell up but then suggests they are talking to people.
I doubt they are going to find anybody else willing to write off so much money each season.
As others have said where does this leave the rugby club as he's not mentioned them at all, does he intend continuing to own them or are they also up for sale?

Though I think they would do well to find another owner who will spend so much money on them and be worth billions, I will not be gloating at all, we are still way off looking at our own current situation.

I always though it was said he’d keep the sh** in the family and his son would take over one day . His son has already taken over if he's now their chairman? It seems the family must have decided they don't want to keep throwing money away, perhaps losing £38m last season was too big a hit even for Lansdown.

There's some things to watch with interest:
1) The reason SL could never agree the deal to buy Rovers with Nick Higgs was about Splitting out the assits. IE the Stadium. I fully Expect Ashton Gate to NEVER belong to the football club again. The Lansdowns are Typical Capitialists. They are asset strippers.
SL has a considerable portfolio of commercal property, The stadium will be just another. Especially if he still intends to bulid the other sports stadiums for Netball & Basketball why would you let it go?
2) Really interesting that they are not talking about the Rugby? Could we see a situation where the football club is sold but the Rugby is retained? If that was the case then the Rugby would Surely become the lead tennant?
3) You have to remember why SL bought BCFC82LTD. It was because of Jonathan. He was the supporter not Steve. Later when Peter Hargreaves put his foot down and refused to have JL anywhere near the boardroom at Hargreaves Lansdown so BSFC82LTD became a "business" play thing for JL. We had the A Level business studies "Five Pillars" & then he was appointed into the role od Chairman where he remains. But...... JL now lives in tax Exile in Burmuda (very nice house it is too!) & SL In Tax Exile.
My Guess here (& it is only a guess) is that JL has moved on with his family and is more interested in the other things that Island life brings Yaghts & weekend trips to NY which is very much the norm for the bermudian super rich.
Without question the key words are these "I'm 70 this month and the family has been involved for a long time and we can't keep doing it forever."
One word of caution, before we get to smug - Lets get our new stadium over the line at the fruit market. I would'nt put it past them to buy the land as a second stadium for both the football and the Rugby

Would LOVE to watch the bears at the Fruit Market Can get rid of the red in thier kit as a first step 😍 In this ridiculously hypothetical scenario I would prefer the Bears to buy the Mem off us and play there. Also to grow up and stop calling themselves the Bears.. what is wrong with the Shoguns FFS? Alliteration

hi chaps
i for one would be gutted if steve lansdown went as i like the club to be in a safe pair of hands. Granted on the pitch many mistakes has been made but of the pitch the man has done a great job and most of all put his money in to give us a chance of dreaming. Yes still dreaming. The only way he would sell up and has made this quite clear is if someone younger and with more wealth and ambition to take the club further i do find it funny when you chaps take the p/// with your set up.if im honest i dont think we are that far apart on the pitch but off the pitch we are miles ahead.back when i first followed in 1980 we both average about the same over them years we now double your attendance quite easy and before you say we are in the championship for the last few years we have been a struggling championship side and yes this year is a worry. You have a owner who fair play has wiped alot of your debts but everything else thats been talked about seems to be pye in the sky.as i have said on here before unlike some of my fellow ziderheads i miss the bristol derby as theres not many games get my heart pumping like it.cardiff swansea, reading or brum just dont come close for me and thats given you boys credit which i try not to do to often lol tinman hat at the ready

It looks like Lansdown is having a good go this season at reintroducing the annual derbies in future years, assuming we don't get promoted.

Perhaps he’s heard about Wael’s master plan of building a housing estate at The Quarters and is thinking of doing the same with City’s training ground?

We could offer to groundshare with a clause in the contract that gives us the ground for a hundred quid if they go bust :-)
