The current planned infrastructure at UWE can support a Stadium up to 35,000 so my good friend at planning tells me, do you think we will build a stadium that big ?

It's an easily expandable design - no chance we'll open with that though. All would depend upon Wael and his people getting the club going.

I seem to remember that the plans were to be able to expand to 33000 but I see little point in doing that yet. Even if we go up this year and allowing for a rise in gates because of the new stadium we would still be rattling around in a too big stadium and losing atmosphere. Once we are getting somewhere near capacity in the 21000 stadium will be the time to enlarge IMO

God no. It's going to be bad enough with 10000 empty seats let alone 25000 of them.

This is a question about VAT. New build is excluded (mostly) from VAT. Refirbishment / Extension is not. Also, some of the VAT will be at 20% & some will be at 5%. The question is the tipping point of the additional cost? To put the upper tier on from the beginning or in the future?
This amounts to the detail of the financeing plan that put is being put in place.
Just as a point of clarity The works at Ashton Gate are being promoted to their supporters (if read any of the press relesese's) as a 'New' stadium. This is purely sales pitch The 'new' stadium in BS3 is classed as a refirbishment and subject to VAT. Their would be a Financing plan put in place too for AG even if just amounted to writing off X amount of personal tax in X year.
UWE will be a new build & not subject to VAT. IE you get a lot more bang for your buck with new a build.

Out of interest what infrastructure is actually planned as all I can recall is that all the traffic was going to enter & exit the stadium off the A38 roundabout which already gets clogged with shoppers on a Saturday, let alone with 1,000 of extra cars & coaches on matchdays, in my view there really needs another loop road behind the stadium leading on to Coldharbour Road so traffic can leave & enter via two roads?

A Henbury April Fool I would imagine. A day or so ago our good friend was telling us there are no updated plans, and not even the new owners could get things moving that quickly.
Nice try though!

They did visit MK Dons the other day. Maybe they're planning to build the upper tier and put the seats in later like they did.

I'm pretty sure the original designs could raise the capacity by 5000 or so without taking the roof off. The 35,000 version would require adding an extra tier to 3 sides of the ground.

Yeah, they've already built a road to Coldharbour Lane, but they made it so annoying that they're deliberately trying to get no one (except locals) to use it. I wouldn't be surprised if on matchdays, they actually make it 'access only' and police it.

The bowl-shaped stadium will be all seated with an initial capacity of 21,700. The stadium has been designed to adhere to international standards for both football and rugby. However, following Bristol City majority shareholder Stephen Lansdown's takeover of Bristol Rugby, they have instead moved to play at Bristol City's Ashton Gate Stadium.[28]
The stadium has been designed to minimise the impact on the local environment, including using the topography of the site to effectively enclose the stadium and minimise noise and light disruption, as well as being designed to allow the capacity to be increased to 26,000 without making any external changes[29] and up to 35,000 should it be needed.

Yes I intend to walk to home games and then get a bus to Gloucester road the lack of pubs in the area is quite worrying and there will be issues with the Fox Den which is the only pub within reasonable walking distance, it's more of a family eatery, followed by the Beaufort Arms in Stoke Gifford think the Parkway Tavern sold out to co-op a bit soon ?... will there be a big big bar with a small small queue built in at UWE ?

The bulldog on filton aveune will be a 10/15 walk away via a foot bridge over the railway. A good size pub so bound to be popular.
