For a bit I thought you were just having a laugh but now I can see that either you are a shithead or just completely thick. This regime are different gravy but even they can't just wave a magic wand and give you everything you want in an instant. Under old regime UWE would now be dead. Under old regime we would not have identified 3 sites for a new training ground to buy and develop. Under old regime we could kiss good bye to our best players at the end of season. The new regime aren't back of fag packet merchants like Higgs, they aren't just going to run with whatever he may or may not have written on the back of the fag packet either! Most people of course get that but there's always one. I think Illl go to the pub for some sensible debate on the matter! Yeah, thanks for that. I won't resort to calling you a name... but old regime or new regime? The only difference thus far is different sound bites. I am looking forward to progress, believe me, atm though it's just noise. At least noise is more than we had previously! Would you rather things were rushed on a matter such as the stadium just so that an announcement could be made?

Playing devils advocate again? Seeing as the previous BOD never even mentioned having our own training ground actually looking for one is surely an improvement? Apart from Man C virtually every club can't retain their players if they want to move and to TBH if MT want's mega bucks money I'd sooner him move on and we spend the money on 2 or 3 other players but what's the betting if we go up he's still here next season? Although it was sheer madness by NH not to tie MT & TL into long term contracts now we risk losing MT for zilch and that probably makes him an attractive signing for a top Div 1 side. It was only an interpretation. Mr Hamers press releases, which somehow get people all excited, have learnt me naff all. They could still start digging some foundations whilst deciding what constitutes common sense! Training ground and players contracts are Ill timed stocking fillers...but whatever makes you happy... I agree even though there's no contract in place with the UWE let's move the diggers in that will teach them to mess Weal around! Am guessing the freehold & /or the stadium naming rights are causing the problems which clearly need to be resolved before any progress can be made, interesting there's now talk of £60m build cost if that comes off it could make the redeveloped AG look totally second rate!

Hasn't the manager, in who we trust, said that he likes operating with players on short contracts? PS: you may have missed the announcement about TL signing a new contract, please keep up I didn't miss the announcement but we could have well lost TL as well as MT this summer if NH had remained in charge.

so glad this sainsburys thing is over. had higgs still been in charge we would still be ploughing money into this unwinnable venture . i thought the sainsburys deal was just to raise the cash had no idea any agreement with the uwe would be null and void if we didnt push the sale through. no wonder its taking them so long to get the stadium moving , it was alot more of a clusterfuck than we were led on to believe

Hi, new to this forum, now living in Swansea. I was out and about two nights back and got talking to a couple of very decent Jacks ( I know ) but they were and knowledgable to about our club. Didn't have any animosity at all, in fact in two years here I haven't, I mentioned Steve Hamer in glowing terms and they were very surprised he was still on football, one even amazed he was allowed to be in football. Apparently he was the catalyst for them nearly losing their club, OK a long time back but their clear message was don't trust him at all. These guys were as I say decent IMO, and some of the things they attach to Mr Hamer when at Swansea I wouldn't put on here. But they stated its a clear indication of time will tell, he has the gift of the gab and will cloud issues easily.
I imagine it's a case of let's wait and see, but things are moving slowly, I suppose we will be more wiser of the financial clout of our club come the end of the summer.
I am also now worried Mr Hamer is talking about getting new investors in to support basic ventures, my supposition was he fronted a massive financial institution already. Why would he do that ? My first concern in all this is now raised.
PS - He was a presenter some thirty years ago on TVS - which was a regional broadcaster as I understand it. Hence his decent use of media and ability to talk to people. Was the man who got Chris Hollins ( ex Swansea manager son of John Hollins ) in to tele by all accounts. I'm remaining in the jury's out camp but I am concerned.

I'm slightly confused how the ownership of the stadium will work if funding is mainly/entirely through outside investors. Could we even claim to own our own ground? I suppose the money from the sale of the Mem will be our stake in the new stadium so we'll be part owners of it at least.

If Wael is not putting his hand in his pocket, I really don't understand how the financing can possibly work anywhere near £60m.
Any outside investor will want a return, at this sort of level of investment probably at least 5%. On this basis, we'll have to pay them £3m a year before we start making money ourselves.
23 league games and, say, 3 home cup games is 26. If we average 10k people paying an average of £15 (bearing in mind season tickets) that's 150k per game and £3.9m for the season, £3m to the investors and £0.9m to us to fund football side.
If we're also paying something the UWE, we're going to need to be generating serious revenue elsewhere for it to be anywhere near viable.

So basically we are not ready to build a stadium. We haven't got our own training ground. Our best players are up for grabs. Cool. Yep. The only news here is the end of the Sainsbury's saga. Everything he said about the stadium we already knew. Seems still up it the air. Also it seems that a lot of people will be making money out of it which means a large slice of the income it generates won't belong to brfc.Care to explain that statement a bit more ?

It wasn't too long ago that most of us were in agreement that even billionaire bankers don't splash £60M of their own cash on a stadium. Instead they look to fund it with investors.
Why are we all of a sudden unhappy with this?

People are searching for clarity. There is nothing tangible in any of the press releases. There is a steady drip feed of non info and once again Rovers fans are content. This is nothing new from the last regime just a different voice. I will be much happier when things start taking shape. I really don't think that is a moan! I'm not sure how my view makes me thick or a ted or any less hopeful than those who lap everything up with glee.

How about they just wait until the dozers move in and let us know then - bet you would moan about that as well ! Chill out, it will start soon, maybe you would be happy then... but i got my doubts

The problem is that the Club cannot seem to win no matter what it does. If it feeds us information then every detail gets scrutinised and generally criticized, if they don't provide information then they are secretive. Surely the fact that we have been taken over from a position where; our very existence was in question anyway and where we could not afford to keep going as we were ie our debts were continuing to grow despite reasonable success on the pitch and Higgs and co were obviously struggling to continue to fund it; should have provided a period where we were content, at least for a reasonable amount of time. As I see it the owners have come in, have cleared our debts, have paid to get people in who are experts in their field to progress a Stadium that was very much at an early stage as regards both funding and information on details of the build other than a "dream" photograph of a Stadium and have got their own lawyers to look at the Legal case that has been going on years and almost certainly made the right decision in not pursuing it any further. They have IMO to date been both visible and courteous to us as fans and to be fair we have been the same to them. We are now in their hands from the position of a beggars bowl and are really in no position to be seeking "clarity" other than what we are being told. If we were a year down the road then I could understand fans becoming uneasy with things and questioning things. IMO we should be joining in the "ride" and seeing where it takes us and being a bit patient for firm details. The information so far provided is far beyond what our previous owners provided and I am sure that when firm plans are in place we will be informed. Sometimes "beggars can't be choosers" and to be honest gashead 1979 the "This is nothing new from the last regime just a different voice" is a moan if ever I have seen one and certainly not true. Of course we will all be happier when things really get moving but for gods sake be reasonable and wait for a reasonable period without any criticism whatsoever. The only thing I can see from this thread is vultures waiting to say "I told you so" This is a very much bigger scale of a new player being criticised after a couple of games.
