Perhaps he has a bigger budget and is happy, but trying to play it down, like the bottom 8 comment. He wont want clubs/players/agents to think he has more money Who knows, just dont trust everything DC says.(and thats a good thing)Actions speak louder than words..........

So DC has released two out of the four skilful players. Easter and Montano leaving Lines and Bodin. Not really surprised as DC prefers to have players who run around a lot ie Sinclair and Moore. When I said DC would sign 10-12 players people laughed- well who's laughing now? Just hope that DC does a lot better than last year with the signings as to be come atop six side we will need QUALITY footballers and not just hard working ones. Time will tell. We've had a great season Steve. That's off the back of successive promotions. Give the bloke a chance. If he nailed it with perfection, we would be winning the champions league in 4 years time. There's no chance for both us and citi to do it!

Perhaps by offering RG & EH contracts and telling us clubs are sniffing around them he might be just hoping to get a few pence each for them. I'll still be surprised if both are with us next season - very dependent on who they see coming in and what the competition is for a starting place.

All of this seems to suggest DC believes he can get better, much better than this squad, which is a squad which is achieving a respectable league one place. We have not offered a player the calibre of Christian Montano a contract. I am excited in what we may be getting in the summer. I do not understand the apathy on Gaffney. He's what Matt Harrold should have been. He has been leading the line brilliantly, like a new-school number 9. Also, I think he is useful as an option if we ever wish to play 1 up front. Harrison I am slightly surprised at but one thing you have to say is that when he wants it, he definitely has goals in him, and this is rarer than hens teeth. I have a feeling they will be the back ups though. Honestly, if DC is ditching much of this pretty good squad, I think we have some solid signings coming. The next phase of this revolution. The one thing I don't get from DC's interview is how can he suggest that he's going to bring in better quality than Monty, but then says he needs to sit down with Wael etc and discuss next season's budget? Wouldn't it make sense to discuss his budget before he announced his retained list? As far as Gaffney he really does blow hot & cold he's been shocking in some of our away games this season but in the next home match, he's been brilliant he really needs to up his consistency if we are aiming for top 6 next season. Its possible DC does not know his total budget but assumes it wont be less than last season as crowds were higher. If he releases players now then he can plead he needs the funds to get enough players in else Rovers will be in a relegation dogfight. He may point out that the fans will know its not down to him as his records shows he is a good manager but the blame will fall on their shoulders in the fans eyes.

I really like Linesy, after all he is the only midfield player that actually runs forward with ball, both OC and especially the beard either pass side ways or backwards. Glad to hear DC intends to bring in 10/11 new players, including 3 maybe 4 new forwards, tremendous; still think WAQs biggest problem, besides not updating the supporters about his unsuccessful negotiations with the UWE, will be keeping hold of our prized asset DC, who's stock is sky high at this moment, and I for one will be pleasantly surprised if a lot of the bigger clubs than ourselves do not come in after him.

They've been saying the same all season, it's as boring as TBone moaning about the snake in the past. What CL does need is stiff competition for his CM role to keep him on his toes and also be an effective replacement when required. Ideally he could also play alongside CL when required as CL & Sincs in midfield just doesn't work.

Player by Player
Ellis Harrison - Right decision, we start recruitment with no strikers. New signings will likely arrive on a two year contract and Elis will need a big season to earn himself another year.
Rory Gaffney - Good player. Happy with this. Feel he's unrated. Struggled for injuries when he's hit form. More than adequate option.
James Clarke - A little surprised but not happy with this. In an ideal world we get Sweeney and left back- meaning we might end up loaning out a defender.
Ryan Broom - Slightly surprised. Hasn't lit up the pitch in cameos but done well at reserve level. Good luck to the boy.
Alfie Kilgour - Only saw him get done in the friendly against Swansea- unfair to judge.
Will Puddy - The last dance with Will Puddy. Lovely guy, did well for us, made 35,000 soil themselves at Wembley. Right decision.
Cristian Monano - Sad because I love Monts but he's just never quite done it. Really hope he does well where ever he ends up.
Dominic Thomas - Don't think i've seen this guy play - best wishes for the future.
Jermaine Easter - Feel for Easter. I'm guessing he's a higher wage earner. He was a much better footballer than I thought we were getting. The Easter I remember for Wycombe bullied defenders with his running but the Jamma that we got liked the pockets and delicate football. A terrific player that could still do a good job at a decent standard.
Jamie Lucas - Probably suffered due to the success of the team. Had we stalled he'd of probably got more football. Unfortunately we can't take everyone on the ride, right decision. He could still make it. Hopefully Yeovil or decent conference team give him a go.
Jake Gosling - Scored a few corkers. Didn't run enough. When the penny drops he could make shoot up the leagues again.
Mildenhall - Good to have him stay on as a coach.
Mansell - Will probably play a handful of games. Glad he's on board.

Literally the only similarly between Harrold and Gaffney is that they're both ginger... MH averaged 1 in 3 by the way, RG 1 in 4 (1 in 5 since signing permanently). Penalties don't count.

I guess Harrison's appearances since the Northampton game sum his Rovers league career up nicely.
Charlton(A) 4-1 Second half sub Bolton (A) 1-1 Missed an open goal, subbed due to injury in the first half. Shrewsbury(H) 2-0 - An unused sub Wimbledon (A) 0-1 Nice header in the first 10 seconds for Moore to run on to and score, subbed after 75 mins Gillingham (A) 3-1 Booked early in the first half then subbed at half time as DC was concerned he would be sent off Oldham (H) 1-0 Poor for 75 mins but then scored and looked a different player Peterborough (A) 4-2 Missed a vital pen subbed on the hour for Gaffney who then scored 2 goals.
So in 7 games where I assume he was giving his best to win a new contract, he's had 4 poor games, 1 an unused sub, 1 reasonable game and 1 goal scoring game.
I'd love to know what DC and the other leafue clubs chasing his signature see in him.

Perhaps some clubs, like us, can't afford players in form scoring goals and try to buy players and improve them.....and look for raw ability, which anyone watching Ellis over the last 4 years will know he has, but he has an application and consistency problem. Could he got a lot better? Yes, who would deny Ellis has talent?

What do you know about the other clubs 2nd/3rd choice strikers for comparison in league one. No one is saying Ellis should be the main man next year (although if he stepped up it would be great), but for a squad player do people think x player will be much better, score many more goals than Ellis or Rory.

Harrison i hope is only offered a years contract and decides to go elsewhere as he wasn't proven in non league/league 2 and now league one... I would rather keep Easter to be honest... James will be gone Gaffney has been ill for last two months and suffering with vertigo and I think will step it up with the right poacher next to him, Just hope and pray we have a good budget because if we don't Darryl will be off due to frustration as he's very ambitious... Ricky miller must be a signing but looks like we won't get him now as Peterborough look like signing him....

How the hell can you say lines ain't good enough I know, and there are quite a few on here who would back his opinion up. I think it's right to have some reservations about Lines. He doesn't always impose himself on a game in the way we would like, but he has quality that very few of our players have. He also has over twice as many assists as any other player this season and was top of that list last season too.

Ellis and Rory could both get ten goals this season. I doubt many 2nd and 3rd choice strikers have done that for many clubs in the whole top 4 divisions.
If you at players at this level who have scored 10 goals they probably will have played many more games than EH or RG.
Re Moore maybe he will improve in his second season. Remember Hinton and Campbell were pretty average in their first season and then became legends. Moving home, clubs, plus injuries etc meant it was a stop start season. I remember he jinked his way in the box and dinked a effort against the bar in one of his first games. If that had gone in it would have given him a huge boost. Seems like a confidence player, so let's hone he gets an early goal or assist next season.
J Clarke is good defensive cover. He will know the systems and organisation is key. LEDs gets quite a few injuries due to the nature of his game. Locks might get called up as a squad player for Wales so if we have Sweeney and or Broom for the Welsh u21 we might lose one or two players without being able to call the game off.
No one seems to have mentioned the first year pros. Yes it is a long time since we had a 18/19 year old as a regular first team player (Locks) and even longer for a midfielder or striker (Stewey) but who knows. Ellington is quite highly rated, so you never know. Maybe on the bench today?
I hope Manse and Mildy are registered just in case. I think both could do a job if needed for 4/5 games a season and in Manse's case 10 mins from the bench if we were a goal up.
If Manse is not given the no 7 shirt then surely it has to be given to Sam Blake. Sci fi fans will love it! After all we used to be in Avon and if he makes a hand gesture to the ref he can say he was paying homage to Gareth Hunts coffee commercials. Kids ask you grandparents!
