After all the clamour for news or some sort of announcement - followed by everyone believing it was over because a respected gashead believed that to be the case - this is fantastic!
The club have been so quiet on the subject, I can't believe they'd say anything unless they were confident it was going to happen.
Well done Wael, great work! Now get it over the finish line :-)

My daughter put her head in her hands when she saw it was a female ref. She was worried for the verbal abuse she would likely receive.
I said "Don't worry, I bet she's going to be the best ref we've had this season!". Not sure if she was the best ref, but she was very good for this level imo.

The woman's game is the same but different than the men's. You have to watch it as a game in it's own right and not try and compare it to a men's game. I find it entertaining and in some ways more enjoyable than the men's e.g. Lack of dissent and cheating, those who say they would beat our men's team, say so in jest i presume, we would have to declare at half time! Have been following the Lionesses since around the 2015 World Cup, their progress since then has been nothing short of remarkable. You could even say it for the women’s game as a whole. I find it enjoyable for the exact reasons, no diving/cheating, VAR nonsense (Most of the time) or abusing of the officials. Just the game being played in its purest form in a family friendly environment. I love a spicy atmosphere as much as anyone (following the Three Lions lends itself to that pretty well, especially on our travels) but it’s definitely refreshing not being surrounded by maroon faced Stone Island pavement dancers, whilst watching our girls dominate the female game. The Euros squad were extremely strong but the one going to the World Cup is even better IMO. Notably with the addition of Lauren James. It’s just a shame Beth Mead went and done her ACL🤦🏻Very much looking forward to a WC in the land of Oz. Totally agree that the team going to the WC is better than the one that won the Euros. I was very impressed with Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly the other night. They were both more impact players during the Euros, but are now nailed on starters. Also the introduction of Lauren James, who just has a real swagger about her play - so skillful! I don't think she was fully fit on Wednesday, but hopefully will be in full flow come the summer.

In an intergender (yes, there's a word for these things....) match I'd be surprised if they could beat a half decent Sunday league park side. That's not meant as being disrespectful to women's football. I think the standard has increased massively over the past 10 years and it's entertaining to watch, but the two are like chalk and cheese. Not comparable really. The Lionesses would wallop a side made up of 11 me's though. Their skill levels have risen and then some but they would definitely struggle but then, they have never said they were in competition with men. I do find it interesting that, in USA, boys and girls play in the same team, up until a certain age. I don’t know what that age is though The FA encourage girls to play with and against boys throughout the youth levels to aid their development. Their Emerging Talent Centres - which are the first step on the pathway to becomming a Lioness - arrange matches against boys teams. Bristol City's girls academy teams have played in the JPL "boys" league for some time.

Ah, didn't realise it was going to be temporary. Thought we were going for something a little more sturdy. Don’t set the bar too high Gary. If it doesn’t wobble when the ball hits it then it doesn’t belong at the Mem! Remember when that wayward shot knocked the down pipe off the South Stand? So Non League. I remember that. Utterly embarrassing!

Even if all we do is build a new stand, that in itself must be an achievement for our club. After all, when was the last time we managed even that? I mean if we’re talking about temporary stands, which is what the new south stand will be, then the last one we built was the now dismantled family stand that was on the East terrace. Ah, didn't realise it was going to be temporary. Thought we were going for something a little more sturdy.

Absolutely heaving at trashton tonight for the Lionesses game. Wonder how much revenue this is bringing to Bristol Sport?

Chris Brown has kindly clarified his FB post:- "By the way to all those saying on the Gaschat Forum that I've said that Conygar are no longer interested in building a stadium on the FM that's not quite true. Please read my post again - reading the Bristol Live article by James Piercy it's the conclusion I've come to - others may beg to differ which is their perogative."
Thanks Tilly, I looked for the post but couldn't find it. It makes much more sense now.

I wonder how these guys know what a company like Conygar are planning? Be interesting to see if this information turns out to be correct.

I'm going to say our priority will be not to concede, so I'll go for a scrappy 0-0.

This is classic deadline day, not even 10am and Collins has been sold for peanuts, we've failed to replace him and are now guaranteed to go down You gotta love it!

As long as it's not city. To the day 🐍 I know right. We're looking up not down, how can they stop that and put us back in our place?

You know, every time I move from the sofa my dog thinks something exciting is happening.
He jumps up and follows me because he thinks something amazing is about to happen, not that I'm just going for a p!$$ - but usually that's all it is.
I swear it's the same with stadium news on this forum. The slightest suggestion that something is happening and people start getting carried away.
Anyway, welcome Grant, hope it goes well for you here.

I don't mind admitting that I thought he was too lightweight at the start of last season - but what a player he has proven to be!
JB said before the Peterborough game that we had the best striker in the league. Whilst Joey has a habit of coming out with these outlandish opinons, he often turns out to be correct.

Having not been involved in the Wales squad recently, I can see why he wasn't taken to the World Cup.
Selfishly, I'm glad he hasn't gone. We would miss him soooooo much!

Negatives for me is Gordon over Clarke (clearly its a personal thing between player and manager) Hoole should be playing at right wingback with Clarke on the other side! We need to utilise sinclairs talents by playing an offensive fullback like Clarke who after the 3 changes away at Derby showed! Evans is rarely in the game these days but LM is just as unreliable to replace him. Imo we need to strengthen at LB and a playmaker type player in January as we are going to make hard work of staying up comfortably otherwise. Ummm, thought this thread was about the positives? Why would you start a post on it with "Negatives for me..."

We were by far the better side, but we share the points. Ref appears to be an idiot, but it's easy to wear the blue tinted glasses. On to next week!
