Despite the Mem being a shithole I don't actually mind it. Problem is we will never properly progress while we're there. Character & identity vs soulless & bland.

Back in the eighties, when vinyl was still king, I always wanted to get my hands on a Pink Triangle PT Anniversary turntable with its solid glass platter and Audio Technical moving coil cartridge. Much cooler than the Linn Sondek LP12.

As Exeter sadly didn't make it out of League 2 today, what do we think the chances are of luring Ollie Watkins up the Gloucester Rd?

Not on this lad - pretty much average when we won up there in the Spring. Not sure judgements based on one game are very wise. QED Ellis scored 4

They were going to look at other clubs' training grounds for ideas, Real Madrid and Fleetwood to begin with I think. If you are interested I posted copies of The Fleetwood training ground plans and the previous Colony Farm plans back on page 7 for comparison. Fleetwood's is a two storey building with additional facilities such as a gym, classrooms, offices, etc, whereas the Colony Farm design is a very low key single storey building with minimal accommodation beyond the changing rooms. I suspect that the new plans are looking at phasing to enable the site infrastructure to be upgraded in line with the category status of the academy as well as the first team facilities. Coincidentally a colleague of mine has recently completed a design for a similar building type for the University of South Wales, with a covered pitch, which I suspect is more like the kind of thing we would eventually like to see (as long as it's blue not red).

I can't say that I'm surprised there's interest in BBB, having watched the "2016/17 Season - All the Goals" video. If a scout was to watch that I'm sure they would be left with an overwhelming impression that he was the most skilful and exciting player in our squad who can not only take the game to the opposition but score amazing goals as well (penalties obviously don't count). He's also pretty good at free kicks, so what's not to like? I know he's had injury problems in the past but he's had a fairly settled eighteen months or so with us and therefore he's not that much of a gamble for a Championship, or even a Premiership club. I hate to say it, and I would love to be proved wrong, but of the current squad I think he's the only one who won't be lining up in the quarters next season.

There's also that other Bristol club which we never seem to play pre-season. Maybe we can't because it wouldn't constitute being a friendly! ๐

Unsympathetic West-country Educationalists Unwavering Wael Exultant Utter Waste of Energy (reading this thread) Hi squiffy.. Are you part of alcoholics anonymous section on here? Wow, I had no idea that there are actually lucid people contributing to this forum. I thought the attraction was that we are just one big dysfunctional "fellowship" (or is that a different Baggins?) Come to think of it I reckon that the most help I've got from here is how to use a colon correctly!.....(Lube it first) ๐

What about the fastest ever league goal scored by Rovers!
Judging by recent posts most of you are old enough to remember this one....
Dedication. Dedication. Dedication. Thatโs what you need. If you wanna be the best, and you wanna beat the rest (of the teams promoted last season) Oo-ooh! Dedications what you need. (Trumpet Solo) Dedications what you need. If you wanna be a record breaker. Record Breaker ooooooh!
There's definitely a bit about being the fastest, but can't for the life of me remember how it goes.

Me too - my heart did a backflip, then I realised it was an old thread.ย What kind of sick person does that to us!?! I thought here we go... Sweeney next then... DC must have some dirt on someone to secure his signature! There's still a chance he could be with us next season and in a Championship team๐ค

There's an article in the Match Zone section of today's Metro which suggests ten changes to the rule book to improve the game:
1 No points for a 0-0 draw 2 The ten yard rule (this time without a yellow card) 3 Don't stop the quick free kick 4 Indirect free kick for accidental handball 5 Penalty goals (for deliberate actions preventing certain goals like handball on the goal line) 6 Proper drop balls (to be contested) 7 Change for change's sake (wear home kit unless colours clash) 8 Three cards (bring in orange as a final warning) 9 Sin bins (shirt pulling, excessive celebrations, etc) 10 Get tough on time wasting.
What do people think? Good ideas or bad?
There's more detail in the article but I haven't found an online version to link.

After watching them on Saturday I can't see Shrewsbury getting anything from their game. They were rubbish. We didn't exactly play well and beat them. Agree but this is another game - millwalls form not brilliant Shrewsbury at home and now moving towards desperation to not be in the bottom 4. This is where shocks happen. Think with Coventry winning 3 on the bounce now they will be a different proposition - if only we had played them a few weeks before the new manager bounce !! ...and extra confidence for Coventry from their Checkatrade Trophy win yesterday, and hopefully Oxford demoralised. ๐ค

Just saw this on the BBC News website and couldn't help thinking of this forum:
Meet the 'Grammar Vigilante' of Bristol. For years, it has been rumoured that somebody has been going out late at night, correcting bad punctuation on Bristol shop fronts. The self-proclaimed "grammar vigilante" goes out undercover in the dead of night correcting street-signs and shop-fronts where the apostrophes are in the wrong place. Jon Kay meets grammar's answer to Banksy and reveals the extent of his one man mission to improve standards. Listen to more in The 'Apostrophiser', Radio 4, 20:00 BST, Monday 3 April, or afterwards on the BBC iPlayer.
