How are Burton managing to do it, as I doubt that their setup is significantly better than ours? I also believe we have more potential, as does WAQ, to attract additional outside investment. That is more likely to happen playing at a higher level regardless of the state of our current facilities.

Chris Hargreaves was also very complimentary about James in a recent interview, so there's obviously belief throughout the coaching staff that he's up to the task, not just DC. There's also the element of surprise (nobody expects the Spanish...lol) and opposition managers will have to work out who to focus on rather than, um,...what was his name?

OK, but if the club confirm the deal's completed tomorrow on the training ground then that must surely be a good pointer re the UWE as I can't see the Al-Q's signing off a £3m(?) investment in Almondbury if they are not confident the UWE will go ahead, as that will be just dead money if we're then stuck playing Div 1 football at the Mem for another 5+ years. Hamer made references to 'revenue streams' at the Fleetwood training ground etc. so I don't know if its 'dead money'. I hope you're right but I'm not 100% that the training ground happening = UWE happening As far as revenue streams go they're probably looking at bigger car boot sales, industrial scale weed growing, naturist camping weekends, etc.

My hunch is that it's all a carefully planned PR exercise to manage the unpredictable process that is the January Transfer Window. I reckon that the 2 or 3 players coming in are now dead certs, so they break the bad news on Thursday, follow up with the good news on Friday and then the chairman won't have to face any difficult questions on Saturday but can instead put a positive spin on the club's evolution.

Someone has seen him in Tesco's in Norfolk recently. We have Tesco's in Bristol. Surely can't be just a coincidence ? Oooh, was it Tescos in Sheringham? That's the best looking supermarket I've ever seen with it's glulam timber frame and knapped flint walls. Apparently it took Tescos 17 years to get planning permission because of the Norfolk nimbys, and we thought the Horfield lot were bad!

Swindon Town have signed Chelsea midfielder Charlie Colkett on loan It was all about getting game time. I feel DC may have damaged our future ability to get loan players. He'll do whatever he needs to do to get results, after all it's his reputation and he doesn't owe the loanees anything.

It may indicate how long Danny leadbitter may be out injured! DC would not commit when asked on Saturday about his injury.. He never does No, he leaves that for their social media accounts!

DC may look at each game as a "project", but he also has an overview of the whole season. He knows we probably don't have a title winning side, given where we have come from in such a short space of time, but it's a results based business and he therefore sets out to maximise the return from the personnel at his disposal in an attempt to reach the highest possible position. It's 3 points for a win and only 1 point for a draw so he takes a calculated gamble that the team will accumulate more points by attempting to win each game, and playing more attractive football, rather than trying not to lose. Most of the time it pays off, but inevitably sometimes it doesn't, however it's a much better points tally to win two and lose one rather than draw three in a row with a more defensive setup. To keep his best assets going until the end of the season he employs the squad rotation approach which will inevitably throw up differing performances, but so far the ends have justified the means even if it creates moments of extreme disappointment.. To use a motoring analogy, this season it's like we have turned up at a formula one race with a formula 3 car which is more than able to get around the track but it's never going to be the fastest car. We have an excellent pit crew who, mid race, are advising that we change the tyres to ensure that we complete the race, even possibly scrape a place on the podium, however the excitable crowd are urging us to keep going on the original tyres so as not to lose a few seconds with a pit stop. Thankfully the team doesn't listen to the crowd, as the risk of a blowout and potentially wrecking the car is too high (especially if we want to sell it on eBay later). Although we don't win the race the plucky attitude, professionalism and tech savvy approach doesn't go unnoticed and the sponsors are sufficiently reassured to invest in a formula one car for the following season.

Back to the subject of the stadium development at UWE. I am not "in the know" and therefore my comments here can only be described as speculative. However, it is my humble opinion that the reason for the delay in progressing this is that the new owners want to BUY the site on which the stadium will be built so that we own and have the rights to everything entailed with the development of stadium . The original business plan when the project started was to build the stadium on land leased from UWE. There is a massive difference with the two scenarios from the point of view of the owner, BRFC and UWE. That takes some ironing out from all sides. Whilst it is frustrating not to hear the news that the stadium is pushing ahead, I do trust the owners to make sure it is the right deal for the club - even if it extends the timescale. Is there really a massive difference? The original lease was going to be 125 years more than enough to base a business plan on the only drawback being the lease holder could object to any change of use (for someone like me who didn't trust the last board that drawback was very much a positive). The difference is in cost, and surely are new owners wouldn't have overlooked that in their plans, and naming rights, which really is all about costs as well. Surely the difference between Leasehold and Freehold is that we would be allowed to stick Blu Tak to the walls without losing our deposit.

A very good player in possession but found wanting when without the ball. If playing with Linesy need a player who can do the dirty work which Boateng couldn't do in a 4-4-2. ...and probably the reason why he wasn't forcing his way into contention at Palace, and why he was sent out on loan.

Do you think that's going to happen ? sorry to be a pessimist but I think we're going to draw a fair few until we can shake things up. You never know with Rovers lately, when you expect the worse they win, when you expect a win they lose! DC's post match veiled threat to move some players on might just be enough motivation, before the January transfer window opens, to see some improved performances. There's nothing like a kick up the backside to sharpen the mind, even if it's only temporary.
