Oh, you forgot to mention that when the Al-Qadi's took over we were about to renege on a £3million pound loan which would have put Bristol Rovers out of business and into administration, and owed money to Directors and others who were not able or not prepared to put any more in.[\b] In other words, if the AlQadi's had not bought the Club the Club would not now exist - slightly different to what you suggest? don't you agree? With a 12 million debt against the stadium and increasing annual losses we are pretty much in the same situation- how long will Hani be prepared to fund the current status quo? So far we only have assurances up to March 2018. The clock is ticking... Owing money and going out of business are two different things - Bristol Rovers have made annual losses as far back as I can remember (which is a long time) - the assurances you refer to are an accounting requirement and the 'up to' is what is required - no different to any other business where the Directors are funding. You really are grasping at desperate straws in an effort to suggest time is against us - what is against us are fear mongers.

Interesting, strange and I fear nothing to do with us ..... I feel another kick in the teeth coming our way. Nothing to do with us but the Merchant Venturers Members might give you a clue

You have to be realistic. What did SL inherit at BCFC ? Bigger crowds, an all seater stadium ,a better placed team .
The Al Qadis did not inherit this.
How long has SL been at ashton gate ?
If you remember they had to get a training and academy camp set up. Getting the right backroom staff at the club etc. They also tinkered with minor improvements at the stadium for years.
Eventually they put forward plans for a new stadium...that failed. Their second choice...the backup was to partially rebuild ashton gate .
The Al Qadis are basically following this same pathway...but are expected to do it quicker for some reason and from a worse stadium, smaller crowds and lower placed team.
Guess what the impatience of fans is already seeing them turn against the best benefactors the club have had , they must be watering themselves laughing in south Bristol.
I'd imagine the OTIB will be watering themselves at your own comments later today!! Either you're taking the water yourself or are blind to the true state of affairs at the club, as apart from a couple of new tents we're in virtually the same position as when the ALQ's bought the club. Oh, you forgot to mention that when the Al-Qadi's took over we were about to renege on a £3million pound loan which would have put Bristol Rovers out of business and into administration, and owed money to Directors and others who were not able or not prepared to put any more in. I gather you went to the Twatola school of finance Is the Mem site worth £10million ? Are the Al qadis owed upto £10million in loans ? Did the Colony cost £1million ? Do the family own 92% of the clubs shares ? Will a new stadium cost £40million plus ? will the finished training/academy camp cost £5-10million ? Are there running costs that will need paying ?
I am assuming the above ,if you can show this is not the case please do.
dissecting your maths would be a pointless exercise but as an example, an aggressive purchaser which is what you suggest would not need to purchase the Colony so knock off £11million (1 + 10 according to you)

The Al Qadis under the guise of Dwane sports are owed £10m plus interest by the club. The Mem site is worth £10-15million. The colony site is worth £1million plus. IF the Al Qadi family have no intention of selling as they want a long term project then it means an outside bid will have to firstly stump up £26million plus the value of the 92% shares. Then they will need finances to ensure the running costs of the club can be covered. Then they will need to raise the money to build a stadium and training facility. Another £60million (?) So unless the Al Qadis want to sell someone will need to come along with about £100million. That counts out any ex director one would imagine. I gather you went to the Twatola school of finance

So Dwane will charge it's self an expensive rent Which will be added to the debt account and will have to be paid for IF the owners decide to sell? and your point is?

At 30th June 2010 Rovers owed the bank and brewery a total of £1.5 million, the directors a total of £2.5 million and we were losing £1 million per year. Today we owe Dwane Sports £12 million and we are losing around £2 million per year. So we are in a far worse state now than we were when the last Mem redevelopment plans fell through. And no one knows what the "project" is because all we have been given are vague ramblings about a training ground like Fleetwood's which is having to be scaled down because reality has kicked in and a redevelopment of the Mem which the Chairman is recommending be done stand by stand but he is not sure whether Dwane Sports agree with him about that. But whose fault is the massive increase in debts the ALQ's or the previous BoD, who seem to have bet and lost on the UWE/Sainsbury's, as debts were already around £10m when NH sold up. God knows why the ALQ's took on such a (financial) suicide pass. Well said Topper, swissgas has missed some relevant facts It is easy to forget where we were heading two years ago under Higgs and Co. and we are obviously not much further forward now, but at least there is a better 'feel' about the place. Granted that is subsiding and we need to see and hear some details as to where the owners are taking us short term and long term. Where swissgas is right is that we need future plans to be presented formally rather than a casual interview with Brookman.

You deserve every bit of criticism you get for all the crap you post on these pages, and I'm not the only one who thinks that. As for the original post, it's hard to take it seriously when (s)he writes in such a garbled style with no thought to sentance structure or punctuation. Not to mention using childish monikers like "Snake" or "Pantsdown". Blaming Wael for the atmosphere too? That's a new one! What more can you expect from a "Plastic Gashead" though?! Everyone is entitled to their opinion on the FOOTBALLING matters! You just seem hell bent on criticising the poster here of which there is no need! I struggle to find any reference to football matters in his/her rant = it is full of name calling and abuse against the people who stepped in and saved our club from extinction and paid off debts (and saved some red faces in the boardroom)

For all of the posters on here that have been having a moan and being called or told to stop being so negative what do people expect, from where i see it they/i are just supporters who give a damn about our club and lets face it there is not a lot to find to be positive about at the moment Apart from a good manager lets just hope we can keep him, Our owner Chelsea fan who may have been a Gills fan but is now what i would call a plastic Gashead our Chairman a paid employee is not a Gashead and yes they may have put money into the club to fend off our apparent doom regarding administration but only because they bought us on the cheap and thought they were going to make money regarding Uwe project (am still baffled why it all fell apart) Ok we got two promotions from the two lowest leagues big deal ! But should never have fallen so low in the first place, lost the snake due to naivety/incompetence, i recall when we were taken over the euphoria that had taken hold all the bragging about how wealthy we were going to be that we would be a Championship team in a few years in our brand new Stadium etc etc. Makes me laugh when some on here try to mock slag off Pantsdown regarding the money he has pumped into the Sh*te makes us look silly/stupid at least he gets things done, I feel we have all been let down regarding Stadium and the atmosphere has not been the same since if Wael & co are serious about us then give DC funds to bring in half decent players and keep our better ones, how about instead of a lick of paint at the Mem why not put a roof over east enclosure get rid of the tents and build covered terrace to connect West enclosure to away enclosure TRY for a change to cater for the fans and make the experience at the Mem more comfortable and enjoyable for i can never see the Mem being fully redeveloped or us getting a new ground, i am an ST holder and follow away as well and love my club but feel totally pi*sed off at the moment and as for Evolution don't make me laugh ! and what exactly have you ever done for Rovers that makes you qualified for the above rant? - where were you when Rovers were thrown out of Eastville for nonpayment of rent? - where were you when Rovers fell into the conference? - where were you when Rovers needed anyone to take over from NH to stop administration - the Al-Qadi family stepped in when no-one else did - a bit of humility would go some way oldtoteender

Take no notice Knowall. Blueridge is another newbie on here, slagging a poster off on only his fourth ever post. Mods please note! Any thoughts on yesterdays game Blueridge, where do you watch games from? Season ticket holder for many, many years. I probably know more about Bristol Rovers than you will will ever dream about. You are making a rather nieve assumption that I have only made 4 postings on here!! Yesterdays game: a boring lack lustre first half - came alive after Rotherham scored - a fully deserved victory in the end. EH IMO easily MoM closely followed By DL who probably had his best game for Rovers this season. DC fully appreciative of the ovation he received before and after the match. Disappointing attendance - 1k down on average - but understandable. If you want a fuller version read what SteveK has to say. Whilst "Knowall" is ever ready to attack any poster (in bold very often) and can become quite personal and aggressive (despite warnings from mods) to any one who 'attacks' the board - can on occasions expect something back. Knowall is quite capable of looking after himself btw. Yes, blueridge - I am capable of looking after myself, but I do appreciate genuine supporters like bidefordgas. Please note I only highlight (in bold) certain quotes by posters to illustrate what I am commenting on (I thought this was helpful?) As for your knowledge on Rovers and knowing more than bidefordgas maybe my 50 years continual season ticket ownership trumps you? not that I consider that any sort of achievement and I do not attack 'any poster' but I am not afraid to admit I am on the side of the owners - whoever they are when in office - Dunfords - Higgs - Al-Qadi - because they deserve our support and admiration not least for their time and commitment. What I do object to (have a 'thing' about if you like) are so-called supporters who have little or no real knowledge of what it is like to have the responsibility to thousands of fans and hundreds of staff in running a football club but who comment so strongly and say what should be done without proper consideration. It is so easy to do someone else's job when you don't have to!

If you are referring to me I would like to know what is bitter about wanting so-called supporters to rally behind our football club rather than continually carping and running us down in public. Take no notice Knowall. Blueridge is another newbie on here, slagging a poster off on only his fourth ever post. Mods please note! Any thoughts on yesterdays game Blueridge, where do you watch games from? Thankyou bidefordgas, but I do take notice because being one of a small group who worked with the Dunfords family in the 1980s to stop the Club going out of existence and seeing us back in peril just a couple of years ago, I know that it is the people who help and support and not the people who criticise that will ensure that our Club will continue. The Al-Qadi family like the Dunfords have currently ensured that Bristol Rovers continue to exist and everybody who seriously wants the Club to survive into the future should rally around them and give whatever they can to help. Carping is easy (and cowardly)

If you want the best for our Club - then support the Board and stop carping on a public forum. Offer all this wonderful wisdom you have from running your fantastic business to HELP our current owners who have taken over a lame duck. They need help rather than criticism and you sound just the man!! Go to it superman - offer a realistic plan of your own - and who knows they (and the rest of us) may like it - and as it seems you can prepare plans in four weeks What a wonderful surprise we will have in early January. Oh - and as you are doing so well you could help out with the cash-flow which you say is in need of repair. Robin (pardon the expression) Hood was a more liked person than King John you know. As for a challenge - if you say 5 years - why should I argue? - I certainly have never mentioned 10 years (or any years for that matter) What I do know is - as you get older - time seems to get shorter. Doesn't sound as though you have too much time left to GROW UP!!! You sound like a very bitter old man. If you are referring to me I would like to know what is bitter about wanting so-called supporters to rally behind our football club rather than continually carping and running us down in public.

The only proof would be in what DC chooses to tell us. He will know competitive budgets from speaking to other football managers and will know where he is at. If he tells us it’s a bottom 6 budget why would be disbelieve him? Fact is he is doing a great job with what’s at his disposal and is also on a learning curve himself. Personally I would want no one else in charge right now. Name ONE manager of a Div 1 team who you would believe (including DC) to tell the truth to a rival manager what his budget is.

Have you thought that the decisions you make about your business is the reason you are not on the scale of the Al-Qadis? Being the mouthpiece for others does you no favours. You should realize from the comments on this thread that no-one appreciated being on the verge of extinction which is where the previous Board took us and only masochists would want them anywhere near the Boardroom again. I’ve been in business only 9 years and started it with a £25k bank loan in the middle of a recession and now I am debt free with a £1m turnover and a 8% bottom line return and employ people, I don’t think I’m doing too badly and I know how to run a business and grow it and I’m only 36 so have time on my side. WAQ is is an employee of his brother who took over from his old man. WAQ just gets pocket money to spend when Hani says so. Which is why Hamer deals with Hani for the money. Fact. You speak like I want a return to the halcyon days under Higgs. I don’t. I honestly don’t. What I want is for the club to move forward and be successful. If I didn’t I wouldn’t have put money of my own into Rovers over the last 3 1/2 years to support them through sponsorship as well as my match day tickets. I want the ALQs to have a vision and a plan to drive us forward. To honest and open. It isn’t Chelsea. It’s a community football club. What we have had so far is a closed shop with a puppet on a string in Hamer, had the only real hope for a future removed with a don’t worry, we’ll tart up the bogs instead thrown on top. Forgive me, but that isn’t vision. And like I said, time is something we can use wisely or waste. And at the moment it will be 10 years before we have anything that resembles a complete stadium. And that’s a minimum. And Knowall, if you do know so much, why don’t you add something useful as you always boast that you are so close to all the boards of directors both past and current. Or challenge my post and say actually if we plan this way we could have it viably done in 5 years. If you want the best for our Club - then support the Board and stop carping on a public forum. Offer all this wonderful wisdom you have from running your fantastic business to HELP our current owners who have taken over a lame duck. Damned if he does damned if he doesn't, if Wael said yesterday he had a 5 year plan and in the meantime zero work would take place at the Mem, you'd be here questioning why we couldn't tart up the Mem in the meantime. You were posting a couple of weeks ago we had severe cashflow problems and gave the impression we were going bust (and most likely back to Div 2). That's clearly not the case so unless EW stops talking and actually comes up with a plan to buy out the ALQ's I'll accept what's being offered as at least I can watch Div 1 football, not Conference football the previous BoD forced us to suffer in the past. We clearly do have a cash flow problem because 2 suppliers have 60+ day invoices which are now having to be paid by installments to one business and one business who isn’t a rovers fan, has no axe to grind and just wants to be paid what is owed has no reason to lie. But that isn’t what’s being discussed. Wael is damned either way because all we are being fed is odd snipets of plans to tart up things which make no logical sense in doing because we have no greater plan. And the talk of it takes time is a total nonsense when consultations and plans can be done in a matter of weeks if you are actually serious about doing something. I’m a businessman myself, may not be on the scale of the ALQs but I have plans to expand my business, some small and some large and one is a relocation, rebuild and investment. It took me all of a month to know exactly what I needed to do and how much I needed to invest using capable outside parties. The biggest hold up was planning and usage from the council. Because of this I am not going to waste money and time fiddling around with my current premises. There is no point and serves no purpose. My point being that the planning and usage stage with the councils and local nimbys is the bit the takes the longest, have we learned nothing from the past? So why not crack on and get it sorted, get the vision planned and executed and then we can all buy in to the future under the ALQs. All we have had so far is the UWE project removed and a tarted up set of toilets in its place. And we still don’t have the reasons why the UWE was a bad deal. Am I the only one seeing this? With every move so far we have more questions to ask rather than answers given.

Because it’s a football forum and that’s what happens on football forums. IMO we are losing because Hani & Waq have not provided money to invest in the team. What I think D.C. is saying he wants to manage a Waitrose team and not a ****** Poundland outfit which is what we currently have. The forum is the place to digest a Poundland performance, D.C. needs our support, you can clearly see he is in pain and feels let down. Hani & Waq, need to get rid of that Hamer asap, he is a total blocker, and the sooner the club are rid of him, and start working with D.C. instead of against him the better. read what you have written, then look in the mirror and say - what a fool I am

I would love to know where all this (and not necessarily aimed directly at you) negativity was when Higgs and co were not building anything, never were going to and were leaving The Mem to rot where it stood
As for DC, he has to suck it up. Maybe he thought like some fans that the AQs were going to give him loads of cash or he was promised stuff that hasn't materialised, but DC would never have got bucket loads of cash from NH, or a training ground either, so he has to get on with what he has got. If he wants to move on his career, he will move on eventually whatever happened at Rovers
wow he has to overcome the first 'major' sticky patch in his career and that is about man management and managing the resources he has and has had for the past years which he was successful with
Of course there was negativity under the old board and although communication was poor, we at least all knew something...we hear more news on having a gas on rob than we do from the club. Did we not have plans for the Mem (before the recession killed it) and then the UWE? Before you say the UWE was a bad deal for the club, we don’t actually know that it was. Maybe it was a bad deal because UWE wouldn’t let the ALQs build their hotel on the site? Who knows. No one has actually said. If the JR hadn’t happened for the Mem, chances are sainsbury wouldn’t have pulled out and the UWE would have been built. ALQs have pulled the plug, had no plans to do anything else apart from a casual chat with the locals and Hamer advising a stand by stand rebuild. That is potentially 10 years away. We also never had a charge against the Mem under the old board.
Matter of fact - there has never been a time since 1986 when there has not been a charge against the Mem - please learn your facts

Unfortunately, it is all too easy to compare chalk and cheese when you have blinkered eyes As opposed to the evidence of them doing nothing, building nothing, or having any plans to build anything, and the puppet on the string that is Hamer comparing the ALQs to Ambramovich and saying that the one who controls the purse strings is not a football man. So much so they can’t even pay contractors. Oh and let’s just mention the fact that our own manager has just come out and said he feels let down, we have a bottom 6 budget, need to up our finances to keep our best players and the club is a back to the wall club which will continue for the minute. No blinkered. Completely realist. If anything, a current belief in WAQ and his crew that they will spend money is a complete fantasy. 12m spent. On what? Not the team as DC has only spent a net £135k. So you consider NH and Uncle Eds tenure was successful? and unprepared to give the current owners time?
