Strange - that picture of the player has blue and white quarters on his shirt. My shirt (I only have one) has white and blue quarters. God, that looks like a stupid thing to say when you write it down. What I mean is that my shirt is blue where that one is white and vice versa. Have we had many "shirt reversals" over the last few years and is it a regular switch?

I have been reading this exchange with some interest. The quasi-erudite depictions of Adam are in some cases laughable. I'll leave you all to deduce which depictions I allude to. I coached Adam and his brother when they were boys. My son is a friend of the Virgo boys. They are good people. Comparisons with the evolution of Brighton are very apt - Brighton as a football club is a model of emotional intricacies and triumph over despair. The fan base has been through very challenging times. Adam's plaudits for Darrell speak volumes for the Rovers' manager's achievements alongside his staff. Given the optimism that prevails now regarding the Rovers, a tone of respect and modesty would enhance everyone's views, in my opinion. To be fair to that article, I thought a lot of it made sense. As soon as the take over happened, I had massive hopes that, of all the models for progressing the club further, we would try to emulate that of either Brighton or Swansea. In my opinion both of them got their planning spot on - and look at what has happened to them.

I think that you need to retain the original registration, otherwise it is really difficult to keep the GAS plate if/when you sell the new car.
I just bought a car which, when I saw it first, had personalised Plates on it. The owner told me that they had retained the original registration (an 06 plate) specifically to be able to re-register the car and keep the personalised number when he sold the car.

Only 4 penalties too.
Ellis smashes every one of his straight down the middle.

Much rather have Leads. Better now & better potential still. Smith couldn't wait to leave us, unlike Brown! Wouldn't want him back to join the party, having now stuck around to do the hard work to earn it! UTG Think that's harsh. Whilst I'm delighted Brown stayed, and wish Smith had too, they both worked hard in the relegation season and gave their all unlike some. Wouldn't have begrudged either of them a move. Am I imagining it, or did DC start to push Smudge into the right side of midfield during the last few games of the relegation season. I can remember thinking that we looked a really good side with him playing rightside of midfield. He was having a great game at Pompey (one of the last few games that season) until his hamstring went and then we looked awful.
I would have him back

Great video - Ellis's equaliser at Northampton wasn't quite the easy tap in I remember from the game.

NH agreed to making funds available to secure the transfer of Gaffney at a time when the club didn't seem to have two pennies to rub together. My other point doesn't really relate to NH personally but rather to the ownership and development of lower league clubs in general. Someone on here posted the average salaries of players in the 4 different divisions. The gulf between each division was huge. I also looked at the external financing of football clubs from the distribution rights from TV. Again the gulf between each division is massive, and getting even bigger next year. A fact that surprised me also was that there was no specific financial prize awarded to the winners or promotees of either league 1 or league 2. In fact, from a promotion point of view it is more lucrative to be promoted via the playoffs because of the additional tv money and a share of the additional gate receipts. I cannot see a possible way in which clubs that are owned by supporters trusts or indeed local, parochial owners can ever hope to compete all the way to the top. Without being personal about him, I do not think we would ever be able to compete any higher than L1 under NH. I believe that the new owners might make that further progression easier. I guess that depended on what would have happened if we'd sold the Mem to Sainsbury's and built the UWE with the proceeds? Could the UWE have generated sufficient income streams itself to make us Div 1 promotion challengers, or was NH plan always to sell out once it was built? I have wondered about that a lot.
In my opinion, NH was a true Gashead and wanted only the best for the club. One of the problems with the business model for the building of the new stadium at UWE was that it was 100% contingent on the sale of the Mem for funding the build. The value of the build was geared to the sale value of the Mem (and actually there was even a shortfall then). If you add to that the fact that the value of the Mem had been artificially inflated because of the planning permission to build a supermarket - everything boiled down to the sale of the land to Sainsbury's. When Sainsbury's dropped out - there was nowhere to go as there was probably a differential of about £8 Million between the Sainsbury's price and the alternate value of the land.
In my opinion, the UWE stadium plans were kind of shoe string stuff and probably did limit the potential for future growth of the club simply because of the budgetary constraints. Again, in my opinion, the reason for the delay in announcements about the stadium from the new owners, is because they are re-addressing the existing plans from a completely different perspective, a different budget and a focussed business model that permits more ambition for progressing the club.
I don't think NH's business plan addressed the future progression of the club any further than the existing budgetary constraints permitted. If the Stadium build went over budget or if the completed stadium did not generate the income stream that was hoped for, I think we would have been f@@ked.
Again, in my opinion, I think we can now look forward to a much more robust plan for the future.

Can't wait for pre season. The only sad thing about last Saturday evening was that I knew I wasn't going to be able to watch this fantastic team for a couple of months. I miss it already. It was a funny kind of sadness wasn't it - It isn't just the thought of nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon but the void in my life created by not having to constantly refer to the forum and the internet to pick up any pointless info that may, or more probably, may not affect our chances of getting the next 3 points in the promotion chase.
Whatever the feeling though, I am damn glad we went through in the "Automatics". I listened to the "Game of Muffs" last night and spent the whole time thanking god that it wasn't us involved.

This is too much of a colour clash for my colour blind eyes. Inconsiderate C's! same! Ditto - I could hardly tell the teams apart. I even had problems with those Plymouth shirts when they played us at the Mem. I have no idea why they didn't wear their Green and White stripey shirts - there is no clash surely.
I wonder if Refs are tested for colour blindness!!!!

Many thanks. Please can you PM me John Kayes' number. I will definitely need tickets for the game and if the Pre Match Party is open I would definitely be interested in meeting up then.
I am currently sorting flights out - Probably going a few days earlier than you but may see you on the flight back!! I am staying in Barcelona for the early part of my trip but we are considering a few days in a hotel up the coast to "get involved" as the match approaches.
After this last weekend I think this will turn out to be a great trip.

Does anyone know where can I get details of the Sabadell trip? I only realised on Saturday that there was an official SC tour.
I am not sure that I will go on the official tour as I am staying with BarcelonaGas for the week, but it would be nice to find out some of the details so that we can try to meet up sometime.

You certainly know it's the end of the season with this thread...roll on end of summer Aren't you so glad it is the end of the season - but for Browner's goal in the 92nd minute, I would now be preparing for my 92nd heart attack of the season in the first of the playoff games.

Well, what twerp thinks that lost property would get handed in there? First place I would have enquired at is the local pub. It's surely the most logical place !!! Hell's bells - I have had stick all day long from the wife for being absent all Saturday and now I come in here and have got to take it here too. What sort of summer is this going to be!!!!
Besides, there was a modicum of logic to leaving them at the Welly. I live 40 miles away and I presumed it would be easier to pick them up from closer to "home". I should have posted on Sunday when I sobered up (problem was I still haven't sobered up)

I think this is all a little harsh. Accrington had the same game as us by all accounts and were just unlucky enough not to get the goal that we did. They had loads of chances and hit the bar three times! But the facts are they can hit the woodwork all day long and it counts for diddly squat, when their time came they fell short whereas on this occasion we didn't Hitting the woodwork counts for everything when you have someone to knock in the rebounds
