I think with just minutes to go hearing your promotion challengers had just taken the the lead would knock most fans for six, ours included. I guess we were lucky that D&R were so poor we were making chance after chance and you sense we could always score hence the support. The one thing that I would NOT say about D&R on Saturday was that they were poor. I personally thought that they belied their position at the foot of the table. I thought that they were composed on the ball in midfield and that they did pose a threat or two at times up front.
In defense I thought that they were slightly naïve and disorganised at times. This could, in part, be due to the nature of the game where we had to go on the attack from the very first and the atmosphere that we created within the ground. Their defensive disorganisation allowed us to cut through them at times but the fact that we seemed able to create attacks in wave after wave was just as much down to the determined performance that we put in. We created chance after chance and, yes, we missed some sitters. However, a lot of the missed chances were simply a result of the brilliance of D&R's last ditch defending (some of their Blocks were out of this world). Even when we beat the defenders, the Goalkeeper had a Worldie.
I am not saying that they were the greatest team to come to the Mem, but they played their part. I just thought that every single one of our players was magnificent and it took every ounce of determination that we had to get over the line

Is it just me or is the Forum still behaving oddly. I am not getting the same porn etc as everyone else but the site is massively slow, I can't watch any of the vids and it keeps causing my IE to crash To be honest if the videos are running slowly that's likely not a forum issue as all videos are just YouTube embeds. So even if the forum was ground to a halt you should really be able to view those videos at YouTube speed (I assume they are pretty damn solid) I have a very fragile and slow broadband speed at the best of times but this is even worse than usual. it does seem centred around the forum as all the other tabs seem to be working normally. Just writing this reply has to be done letter by letter.

In a year of underdogs, I have started to feel like the Leicester story has been mirrored by our own achievements. The story behind their achievement and ours seems so similar with both sides relying on the spirit of the team rather than the brilliance of the individual members or the size of the club' bank balance.
For that reason I would go for Accrington Stanley. Their story is exactly the same and I am only sorry that it was them that we displaced in those last few exquisite moments of the season. I would like to see them progress, for that sentiment.
Plymouth: Whilst I would love a trip south to the seaside next year, I think they did "bottle it" in the end and the arguments amongst their supporters in their forum did them no justice whatsoever>
Portsmouth: I think that they are capable of going higher still and would be a bigger threat to our 2016/17 season than any of the other teams. I also disagree with the OP - I truly hate the away end at Fratton Park - awful perspective on the game, poor atmosphere and I have never seen us do well there.
Wimbledon: No real opinions either way. They are possibly the form team and might well do better than expected.
I am just glad that it isn't US in the play offs. Having heard DCs comments (talking about his own exhaustion) and having witnessed the efforts put in by OUR team over the last few weeks and especially in the final game - I am not sure we had much left in the tank. I know I was absolutely drained after the game and I am only a fan.

Great Vid - Thanks.
Re-watching it made me realise how crucial that point was in the game at Northampton. I watched that at the Beamback at the Mem and truly thought we were dead and buried when we were 2-0 down. What a massive comeback that was and it just shows the spirit in the team never to give up.

To be honest I'm really looking forward to the break, God knows how the players cope because I'm f**king emotionally and physically drained! I might get sky sports added to my virgin package to sit back and enjoy watching the fate of the clubs in the play offs . i am going to open a rovers rehab for the summer,Valium tea and codene cakes for all Utg l1 sorry about this - but I have already cornered the entire market in Valium Tea, and I am already three quarters through it

Rickie Lambert is out of contract this summer, isn't he? I may have been on my own on this but I always thought he looked useful at League 1 level

We only dropped 7 points out of the last 42 - what an amazing performance.

Ad to all the fantastic Gasheads who have shared in one of the bests seasons I can remember and made the experience so much the better for it.

Three players scored in finals held at both the Millenium and Wembley that year. Who were they?
EDIT: This was supposed to be attached to a thread about the 2007 season. Now I can't find the original post. I have completely lost the thread haven't I!!!!!!! AND, I promised myself that I wouldn't keep popping in here this week!!!!!!!!!!

A MILLION MILES TO YORKMy door to door round trip clocked up just over 500 miles. There were 2,000 Gasheads at the ground. We travelled 1 MILLION miles to watch the GAS this weekend - Great support - UTG sadly my brother only travelled from Leeds so you'll need to find a Gashead from land's End to make up for him You Party Pooper!!!
In any event, my brother came from Barcelona - so that compensates for a few of the "local" Gasheads. Plus, I only counted the people who bought tickets. There were others at the game (Wael Al Qadi, for instance) who, I am presuming, did not have to buy a ticket in the normal way. He travelled by train from Kings Cross.
So there!!

How a bout we all make the same pledge as that chap can't remember who it was now. If we get automatic promotion we all run on the pitch naked with cucumbers up our bums and custard smeared on our balls. I'm up for it if you are ! Lol Let's not be sexist about this - but what would the Lady Gashead version entail?

There is another thread in here about bringing flags to the Daggers game.
I vote that we give all the flags to the tall, fat, smelly ones - then no one will be able to see anything. I am sure I will have my hands over my eyes for most of the game anyway.

With the exception of the references to Baggins' Cat and the ultimate outcome, this thread is almost identical to threads on the other teams forums. That made me smile.
I bloody wish I could concentrate on work - and this is only Monday morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are Gasheads. The phrase A SANE GASHEAD has to be an oxymoron, doesn't it. There is no Sanity Clause in any Gashead contract I have seen and, in any event, the Sanity Clauses only apply to the Christmas period of games.
If you want Optimism, then that is a different thing. I believe that two things must happen for the automatics:
1) We must win both of our games - Can we do that??? - YES WE CAN!!! 2) Either Accrington Stanley or Oxford must fail to win at least one of their four combined games - Is that likely to happen??? - YES!!
Not sure whether any of that helps - but it is at least optimistic.
