I think Starmer would love to rejoin the EU but a little devil on his shoulder is whispering in his ear 'be cautious, commit to nothing'.

Not at you Tilly, but thinking about it what a great idea! You are well respected on here, know many of the players and already have contacts at the club. I get the impression that you are told things that you cannot disclose, so confidentiality does not seem to be an issue. I believe you have kids so as someone who can help encourage a younger generation to become actively part of the SC, with people singing of the same hymn sheet, I think you could be a great fans rep. I thought we already had two? Do you want one of them out?

Permanently? Surprised he's uprooting his family, thought they were settled in Germany. To be honest i don't know the reasons, was just told by a mate of his at the last home game that he was moving back. It is surprising, as you rightly point out about his family. He mentioned it on the other forum so it's official. Whilst not wishing him ill-will, it would be rather ironic if it's Brexit related.

Got to love JRM. He must be worth about a million votes to Labour.

I guess the converting debt into shares just waters down the SC share holding value in numbers. For the SC to really have any sway it would need to raise a couple of million a year to invest in the club. The fans directors probably only get to attend meetings where the stadium issue is not on the agenda.
That'll be pretty much every one then.

Just because we haven't had them doesn't mean we can't have them. That's quite a supposition, and I think it's a convenient excuse. We play regular night games where 10,000 undesirables make a right old racket and definitely don't leave quietly. It takes a bit of will, patience and bribery of planning officials. Also plenty of room for a hotel and restaurants at the Mem. There are three places offering accommodation within a few hundred yards of the Mem and the Filton Premier Inn is 10 mins up the road. So there is a demand. Possibly incorporated into the stands, like the 2007 plan and Leyton Orient's ground. Or better still in the car park. I wonder how many fans would be willing to up parking at the ground in return for a revamped stadium with revenue streams? It's all about raising the finance, imo, and this stuff about not being viable as a revenue generating proposition is a deflection. It's an attractive site in a prosperous city, and far more appealing than most other football locations where successful redevelopments can and do happen. I think maybe Wael has lost the will to find the investment. Shame if true. You must have a short memory regarding planning re Sainsbury's if we needed planning for 10,000 undesirables we would not have got it. No chance the locals would not complain about loads of concerts etc. Also not sure what is appealing about the mem apart from the local pubs and eateries that the club makes no money from. At the end of the day it's a site in the burbs surrounded by housing, with little to no commercial opportunities as demonstrated by us being there for years and not being able to make much. It's not near either university or near large employers such as the premier Inn is. The Premier Inn is 10 minutes away!??! Not a game changer. As for concerts, I doubt if there's ever been an open air concert anywhere in the UK, ever, where the locals haven't complained. But they happen. Like the Eastville Park festival. Anyway I won't bore anyone with my sums, but I have been working this out very carefully, and just four sold out concerts a year, plus rent charged to the hotel and two restaurants would raise just over £3m per annum in revenue. Not profit of course. That would be for our steely-eyed negotiators to negotiate.

If we can play virtually limited football games at the Mem, which create a fair bit of noise, then why can't we put on the odd summer concert at a redeveloped stadium? If we're only going to build a stadium where a hotel can be built alongside it, I sense we'll never build a stadium, as we can't afford the land prices. One we are not planning on buying the land just renting. Two why have we not had summer concerts and other events already then why are we suddenly going to be able to make money from the mem that we can't do now? Just because we haven't had them doesn't mean we can't have them. That's quite a supposition, and I think it's a convenient excuse. We play regular night games where 10,000 undesirables make a right old racket and definitely don't leave quietly. It takes a bit of will, patience and bribery of planning officials. Always thought it should be hand in hand with the Arena at Filton. All transport links should be in place for the Arena. Too late now. Plenty of room around Yatton 🤗 There's a reason for that.

The Everton Job is like a poison chalice can't see many people jumping at taking the job on. Although press reporting Sean Dyche is favourite for the job did wonders at Burnley The way that great club (Everton) has been run in recent years is a disgrace and an insult to their glorious history and magnificent supporters. Out of interest What is is that we can't have at a redeveloped mem that makes it commercially unviable? An entertainment license after 10:30/11pm is what I've heard but if Sainsbury's wanted deliveries in the early hours then I'm not sure BCC would turn down a request for a later license? We seem to have got pp for virtually everything else in the past, student accommodation, a small, & large(!) supermarket, gym etc.  Probably the real reason is it would cost £xm and without either somebody else paying for the build &/or selling the Mem to finance it then it's never going to happen, you do have to wonder how Oxford's new owners are going to finance their new stadium when they don't even own their present ground. If the value of the Mem land is £40m, if a new stadium costs £70m plus land costs, and if a redeveloped Mem would come in at £30m, then the sums are less difficult. Obviously I've made these numbers up to fit my point, but the two crucial details are the value of the land and the fact that a redevelopment short of tearing the whole thing down would cost less than a new stadium. Obviously it wouldn't be as good, but if there is no alternative then it would be a hell of a lot better than what we have and where we are now and indeed in the foreseeable future. We can't just do nothing! ..Edited because my original made up numbers didn't fit my made up point..

five plans being discussed for the fruit market site with equal merit, one of which includes a "sports and leisure facility" So before anything even happens there is only a 20% chance of being a part of the fruit market development. This dead in the water surely? Who pins all their hopes on a 20% plan, of which even in that part, there is no guarantee it will include a Rovers stadium. Beginning to feel as though we have been strung-a-long for too long now. Redevelop the Mem and get on with it!Redevoping the Mem isn't an option, how many more times does this have to be said?? I've read it many times, and I don't believe it now any more than I did at first. Of course it's an option.

I think if Wael came out and said it'll be 3+ years for the new stadium to open he'll be getting a visit from the FA Drug Testing Team. I think the club are mindful of being open and honest about the next to zero chance of us moving to a new stadium under his guidance. I think many people would in fact lose interest if he were truly honest about our prospects on that front. Why would fans lose interest, if they can carry on supporting us in the Conference then I assume they can survive a bit bad of stadium news If Wael announced that the FM deal was off, I don't think anyone would be reeling around in shock or returning their season tickets. Just lots of resigned shrugs and a sense of relief that at least we know what we all suspected. If he said the deal was off but other plans are afoot, that would be good to hear, but I don't think it would trigger thousands to rush to the ticket office and sell out every game. But we'd all be pleased to see the club communicating with the fans. I can't see what he has to lose by issuing an update. But he would gain kudos and respect if he did. Probably secret things afoot that, if leaked, would ruin the club. Bit unlikely, that one.

I mentioned this on the Fruit Market thread. It's all very odd. JM is furious with Swissgas. Popcorn time.
An official version would be nice, either from the club or more realistically fans' directors, but we don't get those any more.

Being reported on the other forum that at the AGM Chris Gibson (non executive director) asked a shareholder to leave because Wael didn't want him there. Wonder what that's all about, if true? If true being the key part. A known bullish!tter has posted something with no details or context. I expect it to eventually turn out to be utter b0ll0cks! That is inconceivable!

Being fined, deducted points or even being put into administration doesn't really seem to harm these clubs. After a few years they seem to be back where they were, old debts wiped out or repaid as a fraction of what was owed, and they are then free to rack up more debt and loans.
Meanwhile Wael keeps us solvent and legitimate and we struggle to survive.

Who forgot to put the covers on? Come on own up! I blame Brexit.
It must be something else of course. During the pre Christmas cold spell, which was colder than this one, all was fine.

That is a fantastic gesture from young Niamh. It's quite a thing for a girl with such amazing hair to do for somebody else and she deserves a lot of praise.
The new style looks nice Niamh!
