Another clear sign that the EU is about to collapse. Just as well we left, phew. Our EU cousins don't seem to be missing us very much. This is not what we were told. I thought we were so essential to EU trade that we could negotiate any deals we fancied, on our terms, and the likes of BMW were trembling in fear in case we didn't buy their cars and bought American or Chinese or something. Instead it appears the b@stards are relocating Mini EVs (EVs being the future) to China. How very dare they!

I would have been happy if we bought him as he’s a match winner… Struggled to make much impact at League One level apparently. There seems to be a huge gulf between League 2 and League 1 recently. Far more so than I recall in the past. Lots of big spending big clubs in L1 and nothing much comparable in L2. I think the transition is harder than it's ever been, so much credit to JB for getting us into the position we are today. The top half of L1 looks like a Championship table.

16 pages is enough time on them. Good luck with that if they get relegated.....

1-1 draw at 90 mins. Does it go to extra time and/or pens?

I expect they just forgot to mention the massive stadium in the middle. It'll all be sorted in the next draft.

Poor souls, having to need a second job to make ends meet. I think we should increase their salaries but ban then from second incomes including 5 years after leaving office. The former should be linked to average earnings and the latter to prevent favouritism during office and then taking directorships as a reward for losing the election. "Since the end of 2019, millions of pounds of outside earnings have been made by a small group of largely Tory MPs. The Owen Paterson scandal last year prompted some rule changes, but questions have been raised about whether they go far enough." news.sky.com/story/westminster-accounts-mps-earn-17-1m-on-top-of-their-salaries-since-the-last-election-with-tories-taking-15-4m-12758768MPs should be at Westminster or their constituencies, but seem to spend a lot of time chasing people of the opposite sex and earning £££££s as advisors and directors, with plenty of freebies thrown in. Lord Sugar would fire the lot of them for not focusing (focussing?) on their jobs. Tories are inevitably the worst culprits. Surprise surprise.

Is the whole ground open? Strange pattern of ticket sales..some whole sections seem sold out or unavailable while others have plenty of tickets left.

I'm pretty ancient myself but even I wasn't around at the time. I would have loved to witness it but couldn't. However, my grandad, a lifelong gashead until he died, was there and told me all about it. Said it was a sensational performance and one of the finest he's ever seen from us.
He gave me the matchday programme when I was a kid and I still have it.

With the Ukraine war and Covid, the Brexit loyalists have two things they can blame for our woes for many years.
To be fair, they haven't helped, but the addition of Brexit to that mix seems have tipped the economy over the edge.
Still, at least Rishi is going to stop the boats.

Did you seriously believe that's the case? I'm just summarising what he said. Do you have to pick apart every post? Do something else for Christs sake. It would be boring if we all agreed with other posters. Topper likes to keep it interesting by disagreeing with every post, as a matter of principle.

Gorringe's reign of terror rumbles on. What a bizarre post? Just where is Gorringe at fault here? From my reading of it, it’s entirely down to OP? The club, Gorringe or whomever within the club hasn’t done anything wrong? I think it may be possible that it was a bit of humour.

Well we have been told by some posters that Under 21s will definitely not be playing in the lower leagues, ever.
But now it seems the powers that be are discussing moving up a level to the League Cup (as was), in a stealthy way where there are fixture clashes. Next is the FA Cup, maybe. Well obviously. And then we're almost there. It's a long game they're playing, but they are determined to win it. Just keep attending the Mickey Mouse cup fixtures, and you will be able to watch us play Man City U21s at the Mem in a league game in a few years.

Not easy if you're elderly or not very mobile. Making it one hour seems quite a simple and sensible solution. Although to be fair what exactly you'd be doing in the club shop for a whole hour mystifies me. If you're elderly or not mobile, how do you cope on matchday? Good point.

Redevelopment of the Mem is certainly possible: 1 cut back the front of the Thatchers by 4/5m - slightly reduced capacity, but not by as much as people think, as the front terrace is then above pitch level, and no need for yellow hatched area, so can use all of terrace. 2 Move the pitch 10+m towards Thatchers - this will allow a decent temporary stand on the South - full width, increases capacity a fair bit and a new temporary stand on the North of the East stand. Both the above can be done during a summer. 3 Prefabricate a Steel based new stand to replace East, so next summer, East can be pulled down and new stand erected, with the extra 10m and full length of pitch - increases capacity. 4 At same time prefabricate new West stand. Following year (during season) West can be dismantled and erection of new West stand can begin. Hoardings can keep everyone safe. 5 Then finally, a bigger and better Thatchers, that rises from pitch level to above the bars, giving much bigger capacity. 6 Finally a new increased South stand can be completed. This would take 3 closed seasons and 2 football seasons. Of course this involves a fair chunk of change, but not as much as purchasing land and building a brand new stadium somewhere. It would be even better, if during tearing down of East stand, the pitch is then moved 10m to the east, allowing for a much bigger West stand, but would reduce the carpark by a fair bit, but with the new Ashley Down train station, and maybe some judicious use of park and rides, would help alleviate parking woes, and allow more and new fans to access the redeveloped Mem. The cost of that would be somewhere in the region of £50m + loss of revenue. What is your projected seat capacity? What else are you putting into the stadium in terms of additional revenue to recoup those costs and losses? No it wouldn't cost £50m. Please. Don't make stuff up just to support the party line.

The only gripe I got is the half hour time slot which isn’t very long if you’re looking around the store & trying on items of clothing, purchasing tickets etc, I think an hour would be more acceptable & fairer. Just park down the road. Not easy if you're elderly or not very mobile. Making it one hour seems quite a simple and sensible solution. Although to be fair what exactly you'd be doing in the club shop for a whole hour mystifies me.

The first four are surely what everyone of rational mind wants to see, and largely what is already predicted to happen.
The boats comment jarred with me though as it's a sop to the right, who are probably feeling a bit fragile at the moment.

You don't have to pay it...it's a civil issue, not an enforcement notice. It's not an offence not to pay. It's up to them to chase you, which they almost certainly won't, because it will cost them a lot more in admin time than it's worth.
You could choose to contact them rejecting the penalty because they gave you no reasonable chance to pay the lower fee, given the postal strikes known about in advance, or just ignore it and see what they do. It would help though if you could show proof of a purchase like a credit card statement.

One of the things the planners made clear back in 2007 when planning was granted to redevelop The Mem was that they did not want a piecemeal development and that once development had commenced it could only be fully occupied once the stadium had been fully completed. They had seen what had happened in other cities and didn't want a similar carbuncle in Bristol. Remember The Vetch? That stance may have changed now. In the know, or just the usual 'no point spending money when we're about to announce a new stadium'? Maybe we should do a poll. How happy would you be to sit back and say nothing, on the assumption that a new stadium is on the way? (Obviously it's been three years since his last announcement.) One more year? Two more years? Five more years? Unlimited timescale?

Prize money still well down. People reluctant to get card out for a £1/£2 purchase but would have got pound coins out of their pocket. If you attend as a group, my relatives give me cash and I buy 8 tickets and a programme on my card. No doubt that this has been hit hard by the cash less situation. That doesn't make any sense at all. You're saying people don't want to zap their card for a small purchase so go through the rigmarole of paying you to do it for them. But if cash was accepted they'd be happy to queue up and pay their £2 one by one? I think you're inventing problems that don't actually exist in the lives of 95% of ordinary people.
