Cardiff to Yeovil would be at least a 4 hour round trip each day for JE! True, but I was under the impression that Yeovil had a club policy that players had to live within a reasonable distance of Yeovil. I seem to remember something like 20 miles but I may be wrong. Beggars can't be choosers, I guess

Dubey still here according to LinkedIn.
Thanks just seems to be like Lord Lucan, disappeared off the planet. I don't see why you need to be updated with what he's doing. He's part of the BACKROOM staff.

I can understand their frustration in some ways. Nichols was signed as a replacement for Conor Washington who had scored 15 goals in 31 games that season before leaving for QPR. Nichols came in and scored 1 goal in 7 games and then in the next season only scored 10 league goals so you can understand some wanting improvement in that area. Hopefully he'll make a better start here and score a load. I reckon they paid around £280k and sold him for around about the same. Our club historian suggests £300k. Washington at Newport we should have been watching, bugs me that our scouting set up is not up to scratch, we are not a massive club but need to address this area, it is muted, also will Dubey is he about still, or is that you Pirate?! An article from 6 years ago... Exeter City youth product Tom Nichols is targeting more first-team appearances next season after the 'amazing experience' of making his senior debut at Sheffield Wednesday last weekend. The 17-year-old striker says he was shocked to be named as a substitute in the 2-1 win at Hillsborough on the final day of the season. So it was even more of a surprise when he was told by manager Paul Tisdale that he would be replacing Bertie Cozic at half-time and playing in a front three alongside Jamie Cureton and Daniel Nardiello. Now the former Twyford Spartans youngster is determined to build on his unexpected opportunity and press his claims for a first-team spot next term. "It was amazing and it couldn't have happened at a better place," said Nichols. "As I got into the changing rooms before the game, the manager said that I would be a substitute, which I really wasn't expecting. "It didn't give me that much time to be nervous and it was an amazing feeling just be told I would be on the bench. "I wasn't expecting to come on as early as I did, but all the coaches wished me good luck. "I didn't realise how loud it would be until I got on to the pitch. I found the pace of the game OK – in the first ten minutes I was breathing quite heavily and my calves were hurting – but it settled down and I was okay after that. "I didn't give the ball away with my first touch, which was a relief because that gave me confidence. "Hopefully next year I can come in pre-season and do really well and get more chances like this. "If you had said to me at the start of the season that I would be making my debut at Sheffield Wednesday I would have said you were lying. It was just an amazing experience." Nichols has been with the Grecians since he was 11 and worked his way through the youth academy ranks. He has just completed a two-year scholarship and was recently awarded, along with Roger Ingham and Jake Gosling, a one-year professional deal. Nichols is well aware of City's record in developing young talent, with George Friend, Dean Moxey and Danny Seaborne all coming through the youth ranks and moving on to bigger clubs. He views Exeter lad Liam Sercombe – the latest to be promoted from the academy into the first-team – as the perfect player to emulate.
"There are loads of players who have been here and gone on to bigger and better things, so you never know," said Nichols.
"You are not a million miles away from the ability they have got. But you have to put the work in because hard work gets you a long way.
"Liam Sercombe is someone to look up to because he has done really well to become a first-team regular.
"This is a club that gives youth a chance and hopefully I will get that chance as well.
"I just want to develop my game next season. Marcus [Stewart] has given me a lot of tips and he is someone I can really learn from."
a LOT of linkages there - Jake Gosling, Sercombe, Marcus Stewart. Plus Andy Tillson I guess. And West Country. Not 100% important but these things do often help players settle. Another link - could Danny Seaborne be the one to fill the left sided central defender role?

mistake /mɪˈsteɪk/ noun noun: mistake; plural noun: mistakes "an act or judgement that is misguided or wrong." Are you thick, it's theft from employer not mistake or mistakes, you make spelling mistakes or grammar mistakes, not stealing 176 k it's hardly a mistake, I have no sympathy with people who steal and not too much time for people who defend them. Calm down mate.
I was just trying to point out it's hardly crime of the century and not something worth putting an old women in prison for. She got a suspended sentence. She will have learned her lesson. The judge, who had details of the full facts and circumstances, appears to agree.

I think it's hard to say. Some positions we may have lost out on 1,2&3. Other's we could be waiting on our first choice.
Good players are in the highest demand.
However, I'd like to think we had more than 3 players lined up for each position if I'm honest.

I'd rather my tax money got put to better use than appealing this sentence and/or locking her up. Any evidence to suggest she was not locked up because she was a woman @gasheadgaz ?
She made a mistake which was rectified. The club got its money back plus it's legal fees.
A mistake surely not, deceit and fraud over a period of time from a person in a position of trust with other people's monies, a prison sentence was justified, it was calculated not a one off, a lot of people in prison for more trivial crimes like pirating Dvd's. mistake /mɪˈsteɪk/ noun noun: mistake; plural noun: mistakes "an act or judgement that is misguided or wrong."

In a position of trust would have upped the gravity of the sentence, CPS should appeal the result, but sadly they won't, at least we got the money back. Its OK though, she did admit guilt after she got caught..... I'd rather my tax money got put to better use than appealing this sentence and/or locking her up. Any evidence to suggest she was not locked up because she was a woman @gasheadgaz?

I've never met her, so I've no axe to swing or grind, however, she did live in the area. The new MP has been parachuted in, and probably doesn't give a toss about Bristol. Born and Bred mate...you don't have to live in the same place your whole life to represent said place in parliament. Fortunately.

Not sure it's a concern at this stage. It's a known fact that we trialled a great number of local and national youngsters at the end of last season, with a view to filling an U23 squad to work under Hargreaves. Can't see that there is much wrong with offering a few places in this squad to young Jordanian lads. There could be a reciprocal benefit of raising the clubs profile in the country of our owner.
On the other hand if we were servicing a full squad of Jordanian FA selected U23's I think it would be more of an issue.

If I remember rightly this is mainly an ads paper with virtually no coverage of anything. You remember incorrectly. Local football coverage was comprehensive and second to none. I think Mr Stevens is getting mixed up with the local Observer.

Not sure what's the point of suggesting random players, let's just leave it to DC & Co to make those decisions, after all who on here would have suggested he signed Lumley & Sweeney in January?? 'Cos it's a forum? Anyway... I'd be surprised if Matt Godden at Stevenage didn't get a move to a L1 club this summer (if they don't go up, that is). Banged them in for Ebbsfleet before joining Stevenage at the start of this season, and has scored 20 goals in 34 L2 games so far. Only 25 too. Reckon DC will at least have had a look at him. Godden's an interesting one. Hope we are in the mix for him. Signed a 2 Year contract last summer so Stevenage may be keen to get a fee whilst they can.

Cilla also said "Lorra Lorra Laffs" I am reliably informed by a Scouser that comment was hated by and never ever used by Scousers. He told me that was a typical " professional "comment designed to endear her to the TV audience and make them think she is a typical scally . In the same vein, you can always tell when an outsider is trying to sound Bristolian when they refer to our home's name as "Brizzle" I've never heard a proper Bristolian say that, as the correct pronunciation is "Bristaw" or similar. You've just got to love those TV attempts to get their tongue around our accent! I personally hate the "Brizzle" thing and equally hate that a large number of Bristolians don't seem to notice how inaccurate it is!
Bristaw/Bristall is spot on

Just received confirmation from Steve Hamer that we will not be playing at Sabadell in July.
It is hoped to arrange an alternative European fixture between 17th and 21st July and announce this shorty. Was there any particular reason for not going there this year ? I had expected Sabadell to come to Bristol this year? I was hoping we could assess our improvement from last year's pre-season by seeing if we could actually touch the ball this year.
The beers may have clouded my judgement but I remember the game being very one sided, which surprised me seeing as Sabadell were less advanced in their pre-season schedule than us at the time.
A very good work out for the players though!

Really? It certainly isn't old. A lot of people are only just breaking onto the scene in their early 20s. I'd say most strikers are in their prime around 26-30. Plenty of time for improvement yet. UTG! So he's got 3 maybe 4 seasons left. Pretty much half way through his playing career. 6 or 7 by my calculation? Surely worth sticking with him imo.
