Pretty sure Wael tried to talk to fans at the AGM but all he seems to have got his abuse? What are you expecting him to say which you'll believe anyway? 1When is the new stadium going to be built ? 2When is the field at Almondsbury going to be developed into a training facility ? 3How the **** does he expect GC to attract any decent players to BRFC when the players trading at a Western League ground, the MEM Stadium is one of the worst in the EFL and the playing budget is far too low ? 4Why does BRFC apparently pay for a office in London ? 5Why doesnt he engage with the supporters more, at least piggie Higgs produced a monthly message? 6Why is he letting the club stagnate ? 7What the **** did he actually mean by “evolution not revolution “ because to date it appears to have been total mathematical ******* ? Personally fed up with platitudes, and “it’s Confidential “ so stop asking me any challenging questions “Geoff” ffs. 1) When we've found a suitable site and have secured planning consent and the investment needed. It will take time so you need to be patient. 2) When the stadium is sorted (see above response). 3) The manager has a budget it's up to him and the recruitment officer to bring the talent to the football club. The mem and budget had not prevented us signing talented players to date e.g. Little, JCH, THD, Bodin, Harrison, Taylor etc. 4) None of your business, I own the club so if I want an office in London that's up to me. 5) Because the more I engage with supporters the more I am abused by a minority of them. 6) The club is probably at its right level now, i.e. L1. We need to improve the infrastructure before we can move much further up the pyramid. Patience is required. 7) It means we will need to be patient as we are going to ensure that any improvements are done in a sustainable way. Lots of love, Wael xxx

Some overly negative comments here imo. Thought we did quite well in the first half which was quite entertaining. Went into the break 1-1 feeling that was a fair reflection of the way both teams had played. There's no doubt the injury subs of Little and OC had an impact and also do did taking Leahy off at half time. Second half brum pressed high and we were outplayed for sure but you have to remember that at that stage most of our team were youngsters playing against a champ side so what would you expect? Brum only made one sub I think so presumably that was their preferred line up. Positives: Bennett, Smith and Rodman all linked up really well in the first half. Bennett's goal was good and he came close to bagging a second. Liked the look of both Little and Leahy who both got forward well whilst they were on. Meneyese I thought looked solid as a rock and so did Alfie for the little time he was on, both are not too far away from first team football imo, Alfie probably a bit closer. Reilly was very lively when he came on. Negatives: Jaakola looks a bit dodgy to me, rarely came out for anything, distribution poor especially kicking. Really hope the other keeper is much better as I would fear of Jak is to be no.1. Thought Davies had a mixed game, good and poor at times, took the armband when OC went off so I reckon he is definitely Tom's replacement. Injuries are a concern when we're so close to the start of the season Correct me if I'm wrong but we now have the following players carrying some kind of an injury: THD, JCH, Nichols, OC, Little, Davies & Leahy. I would imagine that all of these would be in our starting 11 if they were fit. Fingers crossed most of them only have minor knocks then! UTG! Agree with most of this but Serc's...... oh dear looked like he was lost in Midfield Goalie was way to slow Good point, Sercs was so lost that I'd even forgotten about him when writing my assessment of the game!

Not too concerned about the result tbh, just want to see a really positive performance with plenty of attack minded play.
A goal or two would be the cherry on top even if we lose!

Actually sounds more positive than some on here were saying Yes that's what I thought. I feel a bit better reading that, if we have both JCH and THD available for the early part of the season then that will make a massive difference to our forward play. Still like to see another striker and winger in before the window shuts though. UTG!

From the BP:
Graham Coughlan is hoping star striker Jonson Clarke-Harris will be back in training this week.
The Bristol Rovers striker has had a minor operation on an undisclosed injury during the offseason and as a result has not participated in the club’s pre-season yet.
On Tuesday the Gas manager confirmed Clarke-Harris, defender Tareiq Holmes-Dennis and winger Sam Matthews have all been sidelined by injuries. Asked by Bristol Live for exact details about what “procedures” had taken place and when his key players would return to play, Coughlan said: “I am not a medical person. I stick my nose in the physio room every now and again, as a player I never liked going in there.
“Jono [Jonson Clarke-Harris] is all done and dusted, we are hoping to have Jono back one of the days next week.
“We injected him and it didn’t quite work, we rested him and it didn’t quite work, so the last option was to have an op. I believe they call it keyhole surgery.
“The terminology means very little to me, all I care about is when I can have him back on the grass and I hope to have him back on the grass some day this week.
The Pirates have scored 18 goals in three pre-season games so far this summer, beating Yate Town 10-1, St Mocha’s 7-0 and drawing 1-1 with Kidderminster Harriers yesterday.
However Clarke-Harris is an irreplaceable figure in this Rovers squad and Coughlan understandably wants last season’s top scorer back for the start of the league season which begins with a trip to Blackpool on August 3.
Coughlan said: “We missed him when he wasn’t there, we have missed him around the place because he is a character. “Tareiq [Holmes-Dennis] and Sammy [Matthews] have also had their procedures which were needed, we are hoping it will not be too long for them either.
“The extent and the longevity of their return I don’t currently know for certain but we are hoping they will be short term absentees and we should have them amongst us pretty soon.
“I am not going to flog any of the three, Tarque, Sammy or Jono, I am going to take my time with them. I am going to put them through their paces and they are going to cover the same work that all the rest of the first team lads have done and when I see they are up to it and up to that level, and they have covered the work, then maybe we will start putting them out on the pitch.
“I need to be careful with them as well, I never to handle their return to play gently because the last thing we want is me pushing them and breaking them and them missing longer than they need to.
“They will go through a stringent pre-season a bit later than the others, but fingers crossed we can get them involved in one or two of the latter pre-season games.”
Rovers play Bath City on Tuesday night before stepping up their preparations with back-to-back games against Championship opposition in Birmingham City and Swansea City before concluding with a trip to Home Park to take on League Two side Plymouth Argyle.

Can I just say that I am just about to tuck into my tinned red salmon sandwiches for lunch that I made myself this morning before I had seen this thread.
Is this a good omen?
If Scales signs later then I think I should get the credit / blame (delete as appropriate depending on whether he turns out to be any good).

The Shrewsbury account was the first to break Payne going back there on loan, or him coming to us, either way it's a very reliable account I would believe. With Joe Day hopefully coming in, I wouldn't mind seeing Andre Alexis come back. Or maybe even a dream of Jay Lynch too? ive been told be a couple people today and a few social accounts have said we are interested. I don’t want Andre as number 2 though, maybe a cheap deal or a loan keeper. I’d love to see day come in. Would prefer to have Andre as no. 2 than a loan signing. Firstly I think Andre is a decent prospect and at some point he has to step up and if not now then when, secondly it would save on the budget in that area and allow us to invest more in other areas. I really hope GC starts to make use of the Development Squad more than DC did. If we don't give some of these youngsters a chance of first team football then eventually they will just leave due to lack of opportunity or try will be poached by other clubs. We should aim to try and bring at least a couple through each season imo.

Rovers want to keep James Clarke, but he is yet to agree a new deal at the Memorial Stadium. This season saw him make the most amount of appearances yet in a campaign for the Gas, and he generally impressed at right-back. Yet he has close links to Darrell Clarke, who he first played under at Salisbury City in 2012. Darrell Clarke then took him to Rovers in 2015, giving him his first opportunity in the EFL. With Rovers wanting to keep hold of the 29-year-old, it is difficult to see him dropping down a division to Walsall, but the lure of a reunion with Darrell Clarke could be tempting. Oi Clarke! Much as you are a gas legend who I have enormous respect for, keep yer ands off our Clarke's!!!

Dusted himself down eventually then!
Good luck DC.....unless of course we end up playing Walsall at any point in time in your tenure.

Not sure what you were expecting really.
Retained list to be announced before the end of the season so they could be given a proper send off at the final game?

Got to be Ollie hasn't it? Gas through and through and always on the team sheet if fit. I would give the VC to Craig.

Calm down everyone.
Shock horror L1 player wants to get into the Championship!
In all honesty if he can maintain the form he has shown for us he won't be a L1 player for very long will he?
It's not inconceivable that Championship club might come in for him this summer.

Very sad to hear Sincs is on his way. It does feel a bit like the end of an era at the moment but I guess that's the way it goes in football, the squad will always be evolving with players coming and going every year, it's inevitable really.
As many have already said a lovely person who had tremendous energy and was a real midfield battler for us. I always saw him as a bit of a club mascot as well because of that famous beard which gave him a pirate like appearance!
I wouldn't mind betting that DC will be in touch and find a place for him wherever he goes next.
Good luck Stu and thanks for being you. Will miss your presence at the club and also your down to earth interviews.

Oh please, I can think of at least five worse keepers than Smith in the last few years. His technical side is good, his mental attributes are what haven't been up to par. I think he's good enough for backup, only real issue would be a wage reduction. Nope absolute clown and a liability. Agree with GC's decision to get rid asap. Couldn't agree more. He was at the top of my list to get rid. He's immature and has extremely poor decision making, no wonder our defence was completely sh*t with him in goal most of last season. God knows how he got into the PFA team of the year for L2 in the 15/16 season.

Was unsure about TC when he first arrived, felt he didn't offer us anything better than Broadbent as he lacked the ability to bring the ball out from the back, didn't seem to be able to jump and was similar height and build to Locks which I thought would weaken what was already a shaky defence from the season before.
However over the course of the season have to say that he's proved me wrong.
I've come to see how tough he is, he's always prepared to put his body on the line and he's a wily old fox of a defender who knows all the best tricks in the book! Like locks what he lacks in physicality he makes up for in his reading of the game.
Got to say he's earnt my respect and given Locks is now off I really hope he sticks around to provide continuity in the back line.

Not sure how but I seem to have deleted the email with my print off tickets for the Barnsley match. I was clearing up my emails last week and seem to have deleted / deleted them altogether. With the match tomorrow and office closed now - last time to purchase is at midnight so I’m not sure what to do. I have emailed Clare but unsure when she will be available tomorrow or will be able to help. I do have a bank statement entry to prove I bought them. I’m not sure whether to buy them again now or trust that Clare will sort it tomorrow. Any thoughts guys ? You've already purchased the tickets so the seats are yours. Don't panic, call the shop tomorrow and I'm sure they will either send them through again or print them for you so you can collect before the match. Good news is it's a late kick off so there's plenty of time on your side. UTG

Not saying it won't happen but I will be shocked and very disappointed if GC leaves us for Plymouth in the summer break.
He's only been a L1 manager for less than 5 months, when he was caretaker and pitching for the job he expressed how he desperately wanted the opportunity to prove he could do it.
Well BRFC gave him that opportunity and not only the chance to stay until the season end but a 2.5 year deal as well.
If he were to bale out on us now he would lose a lot of respect I think. Maybe he does have aspirations to manage Plymouth one day but I think he should stick with us for at least another season to see how it goes.
For me he is still a rookie and still has a lot to prove. I've been impressed with how he has dug in and made the best of what we had to ensure survival but let's see whether he can make is into a top half team next season.
