If a month ago talks were reportable reaching a climax, with journalists even speaking with the consortium, why haven’t we heard anything at all since? Déjà vu eh?

Well done GC. Got to go for it in my view. Need to try and build on the confidence from Tuesday.
If he had reverted back to a defensive line up then we would not know if it was a fluke or we have stumbled on a winning formula.
If all is not well at half time we can always make changes.

Just really hope Cogs sticks to his "play for the jersey" mantra and selects the same team for Saturday

Just driven past Blackpool on the way to the lakes, was tempted to stop off and go to the game but don't think the missus and kids would be very impressed and secondly can't imagine I would be able to park my caravan at the ground lol.
1-0 gas, late winner by Sercs!

100% agree with all of these comments. Whenever I have spoken to her she has been so positive and helpful.
It's clear she is not just an employee of the club but also a massive fan too.

It would help our case if coughlan didnt come out with a daft statement blaming the irish media! I mean the media might annoy you but to blame them is just clutching at straws. Don't think he was blaming the media. He was saying it shouldn't have been in the media. So who ever told them was at fault, not the media themselves. Expect we have been after lots of player's, that didn't work out, but he hasn't been asked about it every couple of days. I'm only guessing, but it looks to me like we agreed a deal, then they have tried to change it, as other clubs were interested, according to them and the press. Until he ends up elsewhere, he could still end up here. GC could be using the press now, to say that's our final offer, we won't be changing it. If no one else comes in for him, they might contact us and say, actually we are happy with that deal. Why didn't they play him and why did he come over here, if they were not happy with the deal we offered?? All thing makes no sense and being in the media, has not helped. That's how I see it. Also I think what GC is getting at is that someone deliberately leaked details of the impending deal to the media in order to attract interest from elsewhere to start a bidding war. I don't blame BRFC for not getting drawn into that. Yes we wanted the player and I guess we had a ceiling on how far we would go, once you have reached your ceiling is actually very good sense to hold firm and be prepared to walk away if you have to.

Rollin set to go back out on loan. A sign that Scales deal has been sorted? Can you name your source? Is it in the public domain? Not challenging, just interested. Seems to have come from GC himself, quoted in BP article: Bristol Rovers' 21-year-old centre back Rollin Menayese is set to be sent out on loan again this summer. Since signing his first professional deal with the Gas in July 2017, Welshman Menayese has gone out on loan to Swindon Town and Aldershot Town, playing substantial games at both clubs. However he has played just five first team games for the Pirates after making his debut in the 6-0 victory over Northampton Town in October 2017. Manager Graham Coughlan insists there is a long-term future for Menayese at the Memorial Stadium but says his immediate development will best be served by a loan move. Coughlan said: "There are a couple that will go out on loan. I have spoken to one or two already. I don’t want to stockpile players, I want them to get out and further their football education, get some game time under their belts. "I have spoken to Rollin Menayese for one and he is fully appreciative of the fact he may have to go and get some game time but I have spoken to one or two others and I think it will be great for them. "The last thing I want to do is to leave players hanging around, sitting on benches or in the stands because it is their careers. "If they want to further their careers I can advise them, that’s brilliant. If they don’t they don’t. "Rollin is a good lad, he is a special talent, He has got everything; the physique, the power, the pace. He just needs game time. He just needs to go out and get that rustiness out his system and get that concentration level increased. He will be a player for us in the future I would have thought."

Thanks for taking the time out to do this. I enjoyed reading it and I certainly picked up some interesting background knowledge from it.
My bet is on a draw and I'd be well happy with that given its our opening game of the season and we usually lose!

Interesting that he doesn't mention Deon, assume that means he is already set to be in the first team by default?

On balance I think we have a stronger squad than we finished with last season.
We have added up top (e.g. Smith, Victor) and replaced what we lost in defence with players of equal if not better quality (e g. Leahy, Little, Davies, Hare).
The only area we have not seen much movement has been midfield but we shouldn't forget that we have Rodman who seems back to full strength and it looks as though Bennett has been rehabilitated, based on our preseason he's been a real assett, if we can play to both of their strengths then we should be alright in midfield I think.
Assuming we don't lose any of our attacking players before the end of the window (e.g. JCH, Bennett, Sercs) then I would expect us to do at least as well as we did in the latter half of the season which based on our performances under GC had us 8th - not too shabby in my book! I'm just hoping we play in a more entertaining way.
The only area I'm a bit nervous about is the goal keeping dept. Bonham was massive for us last season. The new keepers are relatively untested and I've not been blown away by either of them yet.

That's a strong line up to be fair, just JCH and THD missing which is understandable.
Will be interesting to see how we perform, can imagine the line up against Blackpool will be quite similar.

I think most of us would welcome the addition of a striker, left winger and creative midfielder before the window shuts but I doubt we will see all these positions filled.
Although last season was tough we should remember that under GC's watch we did better than our final league position suggests.
If GC can at least replicate our win / draw rate since he was in charge then we should find ourselves in and around mid table which I would be happy with tbh.
I feel that our defence should be at least as strong as last season especially if Scales signs. With the addition of Little, Leahy & Smith and perhaps if Moore can break through as a sub and replace the role that Jakubiak played and also Bennett can be allowed to thrive in our set up then we ought to be better off in terms of attacking play.
I would rather GC brought in one more quality player now (preferably a striker) and than sign 3 average players tbh.

Jaakola and Ollie Clarke for me. I can see Clarke stepping up to the captaincy and being more consistent, in Jaakola I think we’ve got a good keeper for this level. Interesting comment about Jaakola, I thought he was a bit out of his depth yesterday, rarely came out for anything and distribution generally poor. Bit early to form an opinion to be fair but based on seeing him yesterday and Jordi at Yate I think Jordi looks more likely to be no. 1.
