There was a flyover instead of temple gate roundabout I used to love driving my VW beetle too fast up and over that thing!

Good post? Not for me. Heavy overuse of the word struggling. water poor journalism. Not to mention the numerous typos!

Sorry but I disagree with the assessment that we are much weaker this season than we were last season as a result of our 'so say' lack of transfer activity and the stats so far suggest that we are stronger:
17/18 SEASON: 16/17 SEASON: Charlton 1 - 0 Bristol Rovers LOST Charlton 4 - 1 Bristol Rovers LOST Bristol Rovers 1 - 4 Peterborough LOST Bristol Rovers 1 - 2 Peterborough LOST Bury 2 - 3 Bristol Rovers WON Bury 3 - 0 Bristol Rovers LOST Bristol Rovers 3 - 1 Fleetwood WIN Bristol Rovers 2 - 1 Fleetwood WIN Bradford 3 - 1 Bristol Rovers LOST Bradford 1 - 1 Bristol Rovers DRAW Bristol Rovers 2 - 1 Walsall WIN Bristol Rovers 1 - 1 Walsall DRAW
SUMMARY 17 / 18: SUMMARY 16/17: 3 wins / 3 Losses / 0 Draws = 9 points 1 win / 3 losses / 2 draws = 5 points
So there you have it, comparing the equivalent fixtures we have gained an additional 4 points so far this season when compared with last season.

Just a bit of topic, but not worthy of a new thread..... Saw steve cotterill after the game yesterday. Not sure what he's up to these days after leaving Birmingham? Maybe he is scouting for a club and has be asked to take a look at one or two players? Yeah, saw him as well. Bloody hope he's not scouting any of our players. Oi Steve, get orf our patch!!!

personally, I think Andre should be given the chance. Joe Hart started at Shrewsbury at the same age and it did not hurt him. Yeah, I feel the same way. If DC didn't think he was good enough then surely he wouldn't have even been on the bench, DC could have put Mildly there. Andre showed remarkable composure and maturity IMO to handle that pressure in the circumstance. He looked sharp, responsive and in control. Yes I know he's a rookie but I feel he has earned the right to play Tuesday. I doubt Slocombe will be banned for more than 1 game anyway. Also think how much good the match experience will do for his development, this could be the making of him. He doesn't have much experience but I doubt he would be worse than Roos who was in between the sticks for us for quite a bit of the season last year.

I had an amazing pasty at the mem yesterday....it was a delicious cheese and onion one, beautiful shortcrust pastry with tasty and tangy cheese and onion with a little added spicy kick as well.
Did I mention the fact that I purchased it from Morrison's beforehand and brought it with me.

Surely two keepers out for any reason must mean you can get in an emergency loan. At the worst Mildy can surely sign as an unattached player or surely there is more unattached experienced goalkeepers o9ut there. Perhaps we can get Lumley back as an emergency loan!! Would love to have Lumley back, who wouldn't, but if it's just a one match ban for Slocombe then it's hardly worth it. For DC to have Andre on the bench he must think he a good enough to play if needed. He's needed now and he showed enough skill and mental strength yesterday to be trusted as caretaker for Slocombe for just the one game IMO. Who knows we may have found we have our very own Lumley in he making by accident, wouldn't that be something!

What a game that turned out to be yesterday. At half time I was thinking it was pretty tame, no real incidents and both teams playing respectfully, might end up as a draw. I actually thought the crowd was very quiet too.
We certainly weren't at our best and I was hoping DC would work a little magic at half time so the lads would come out fighting.
First 15 mins of second half we we're lack lustre and looked a little weary and tired. Then whoosh! Ref red cards Slocombe and it's if he lit the blue touch paper and the whole place comes to life, crowd mental, team woke up and started playing for their lives.
I came away from the stadium with a massive smile on my face and a spring in my step thinking you certainly get your moneys worth of entertainment from rovers! Young Andre was superb and really rose to the occasion, he looked sharp and up for it. What a way to make your debut and instantly become a fans favourite. Hopefully Slocombe will only have a 1 match ban but I think Andre has earned the chance to go in goal against Oldham anyway, well to be honest DC probably wont have any other option but I for one am looking forward to seeing him in action again. Well done Andre and congrats to DC and the team for a thrilling 40 mins of football and securing a really important win against the odds!

Really hoping Telford gets on the pitch at some point today. Perhaps as a sub for Nicholls after an hour, the boy looks class.
Parts / Locks / Sweeney / Brown Sercombe / Sincs / Clarke Billy Bob / Harrison / Nicholls
2-1 Gas
Would love Nicholls to score....it's time he put one away.

They're now players and they have scanned a Wycombe and Oxford player, and they have a partnership with the EFL.. Will be interesting. This picture would have looked so much better with the REAL quarters on it instead of Wycombes.

I'm really hoping Sinclair is available for selection tomorrow to literally chase, harass and bug the sh*t out of Oztumer the whole 90 mins.
I'm not sure we have another player who could do this job tbh, if Sincs is not available then I fear we could be in trouble.

His first tasks this Saturday will hopefully be as follows: 1) Sample the finest quality cuisine of a pasty (ingredients unknown & cooked by nuclear fusion) followed by cheese and onion crisps and a twix all washed down with boiling hot Bovril to take the skin of the roof of your mouth. 2) Visit the luxurious conveniences. 3) Take a seat in one of the tent like scaffold like structures (aka a stand). 4) Listen to our usual warm up music followed by bing bong man announcement etc. 5) Sit back and enjoy the footie & unique atmosphere that is the fortress mem! Post match - write up report with 10 action point plan on how to improve the match day experience for fans and identity a shed load of opportunities to increase revenue in order to raise significant sums of dosh for the club as well as pay for his wages! Pretty much! Then in the foreseeable future or so develop a longer term strategic plan to grow the club and it's non-football income so that by this time next year we will be able to see a difference between now and then. UTG! Yeah, this time next year Rodders we could be miwionaires!!!

Telford said he doesn't care where he plays a long as he on the pitch, might be worth sticking him on the left wing and see how he does. Bound to be an improvement on Moore IMO.

DC will be very involved in these projects behind the scenes. Whilst they have gone back to square one with the stadium I'm sure we will see some progress on the colony soon, the update from the club sounded promising to me: "We expect their written feedback on proposals imminently, which will frame the parameters for the development, and enable us to progress to submission of a full planning application." I am hoping they will submit for planning within the next couple of months, at which point we will see how ambitious they are with their design. Well, that positive but lets see what progress there is on the Colony by end of October... Do you think the written feedback has now been received? When do you think outlines plans for the Mem might be available? Given they said feedback was expected imminently then I would think so. With regard to the plans for the mem, who knows, Wael said they had to regroup and come up with a plan for moving the project forward, to me that sounds like they have quite a bit of work to do before they even start looking at the design. I'm not expecting any tangible progress that will be shared with us until next year but as I say, who knows, might be sooner or later.

He probably knows a lot more than we do about the future pans for The Colony and any stadium development, so maybe not as hacked off as people think! Well, he seemed as surprised by the UWE announcement as anyone...not sure anyone knows what going on off the field at the moment. Only hope it all come right off the field. Yeah, wish this thread would hurry up and die already! Just find the title of it offensive and embarrassing tbh, let alone some of the contents! UTG! I've anchored the thread, so it will fall, now. Nice one fella. Often wondered what that funny anchor symbol was for...now I know!

As someone who thinks each to their own, may I suggest the best way for the vocal bully boys who want to prevent freedom of choice and insult those who dare support our team in a competition they don't agree with is to hold a silent protest (written and verbal) and shut the f**k up ? Yeah, wish this thread would hurry up and die already! Just find the title of it offensive and embarrassing tbh, let alone some of the contents! UTG!

Excellent post above Bluestone. I think my problem is that I have seen too many bad days at the office away from home probably since last Christmas. For me the biggest problem yesterday was the full backs trying to charge forward and fail in their defensive duties especially as we had two rookie centre halves which tactically was probably a bigger crime than selecting both inexperienced centre halves and the problem is that it will probably happen again when both Locks and Sweeney are away. I think its fair to say that yesterday we had a black hole in our defense. JC & Sincs injured, Locks and Sweeney on a jolly, this left us with rookies and Leads who is coming back from injury and clearly not yet match fit. If I were DC I would have put Parts in for Burn and Bola for Leads but we are where we are now. Lets just chalk that game up as valuable experience for the 2 rookie centre halfs and move on. Thankfully there aren't too many internationals we will have to deal with.
