Any statos out there know how often a CB pairing have started a consecutive game? I think Broadbent should now start games along side Lockyer for a run. The argument that everyone seems to use for persisting with the ever-failing Nichols over Telford is that TN is ours. Isn't it time we said the same of TB? Noticed his dad was criticising DC's defensive decisions the other night. Not sure that is a smart move. What did he say ??

Out of interest after Bola cost us two goals in two consecutive games why would they play them over Brown who hardly ever gives a goal away? 5-3-2 looked OK last night but was that just down to Shrews taking the 4-0? Regardless I'd try that formation again: Slo Leads Parts Locks Sweeney Brown Sincs Clark Serc Harrison Gaffney or Telford Gaffney had a shocker last night so perhaps now's the time to give Telford a start. If DC wants to stick to 4 at the back then drop Parts for Lins in midfield. Stick to FIFA !!!

Your right Sweeney was not a fault for the first goal as he didn't even make it back into our box by the time the ball was in the net ! the second, tell me please who was he marking along with Lock's ? the third he got done like a kipper by the bloke who put the cross in and before the fourth he was lucky again but for a good save from Slocombe. !! maybe have a look at the highlights !!!! How could he get back form a corner kicked straight to Shrews goalie? As far as the second as I said not directly to blame as if Locks had picked up his man he woul have stopped the shot, the third was rank poor defending again by Bola, which Parts copied for the 4th. I don't need to watch the highlights as I saw it live! TBH I don't care if Sweeney's at fault or not but at the moment he seems the slightly better than Broadbent, although god knows where the players gone who played so well when he joined us. Others got back, just shows how slow he is !! I suggest you watch it again and look close at the 3rd goal and second ! are you related ? he's been poor all season !!

It seems to me ,for whatever reason certain players are no longer playing for the shirt,a lot of investment has gone into the various developement squads how many have appeared in the first team squad ?.What incentive is there when you know you are going to play each week regardless of form,That to me is a sign of failure on the part of the management team, prime example Northampton didnt score against us within a week both centre halves are dropped to be replaced by players clearly out of form. Broadbent, Andre, Rollin, the german striker & Broom have all appeared, who do you think is driving the development squad's existence if it's not DC? Broadbent was at fault for Oxford's goal so playing Sweeney made sense and I can't see he was directly to blame for any of the goals last night, Locks probably should be rested but is Rollin or Burn really going to be any better than a potential Wales International this summer. The fact DC's dropped Brown & Leads suggests he doesn't have too many favourites.

Slocombe 3 got beat at the near post for the second
Partington 2 nothing else to say Lockyer 2 as above Sweeney 2 to slow got done time and time again Bola 2 if your going to play as a wing back you need to ensure someone covers you and have the legs to get back and defend
Back four as a whole, you can't play with wing backs and only two in the middle !!
Lines 2 why is he still taking freekicks never seen one on target as yet ! O. Clarke 1 was he out there ? Sercombe 3 kept running in to dead ends Nichols 3 works hard until the last 3rd
Gaffney 4 a lot of huff and puff but no end result Harrison 6 worked his socks off but had no support.
Subs: Sinclair 4 done ok Leadbitter needs to look up before putting the ball in the box but don't help when you had on one in there ! Telford 4 needs a run of games !
Crowd 3 not helped by going 3 down in such a short space of time Ref 8 Shrewsbury 10 class all game great banter !
Overall, needs to pick a team and stick with it play 3 at the back moving forward to stop shipping goals. use wing back to put pressure on the opposition out wide and ensure that we get bodies in the box !!

I would do this. ________________ Slocombe ______________ _______ Lockyer _ Broadbent _ Sweeney _____ Partington _____ Lines ___ Sinclair _____ Brown ________________ Sercombe ______________ ____________ Gaffney ___ Telford __________ I feel this isa strong back line. Both wing backs have a good assist record this season and against an unbeaten side, Partington and Brown will have an important role tp play tonight in ending Shrewsbury's run. Clarke hasnt been great recently. Sinclair runs and runs and his energy can make it a bit easier for Sercombe to get forward to support our attacks. Lines needs to have 1 of his better games for us tonight. Harrison has done well recently but I think the Shrews will believe he will start and will have a plan for him. If Harrison is used as a sub then his pace will be valuable in the later stages. Gaffney will put himself about and will compliment Telford well. Telford, I feel, deserves a chance to start and this will be unexpected for the Shrews to predict. I would fancy Telford scoring tonight if he starts. Like the look of that makes more sense to play three at the back when you have the full backs pushing on, easier to cover that's what done us at the weekend maybe Bola instead of Brown !!

When you play that deep you can always pull the strings - the problem is he's too far out to have a telling impact. But is that through choice or instructions from the manager because non of the 3 first choice central defenders can pass go leto alone pass a football Really ? what a load of dogs dangly bits, and what level have you played at ??

They were the defining moments in my opinion the game would have been different if we were 1 or 2 goals up.,oxford missed good chances in the 1st half as well though. Ref sweeney, hes been making bad mistakes all season so not sure about your reasoning on that? I can't recall Sweeney making 3 mistakes in one game all leading to goal scoring chances, not recently anyway, can you? Plus Sweeney won us the game V Blackpool when he came on, playing to inexperienced players on our left side, which has been the stronger of the two does seem to be asking for trouble. Peterborough more than 3 and leading to 2 goals !!

I think nichols in the 1st half and telford in the 2nd half made a terrible hash of a great opportunity to score. Both were clear of the defence but were let down by a poor touch on the ball. For me they were the defining costly moments in the match. Wasn't the defining moment Oxford's goal down to TB's poor pass? Looking at those highlights you have to question why Sweeney was dropped today as most of Oxford's chances came from TB's three mistakes. Really 3 mistakes and how many has Sweeney made in the games he's played ? how many passes were misplaced by other players out there today that put us under pressure ? even after the pass we still had chances to clear. Broadbent's been one of only a few consistent players this season !!

being critical but it's also fact - Broadbent was ahead of Grigg by 3 metres as the ball comes across but doesn't prevent the shot ( ??) and for the 3rd, Lockyer is standing off the player to allow the one-two on 2 occasions - could he not smell the danger and get tighter ( even foul the guy if you can't get the ball). Being Critical if you look again and listen to the interview from after the game you will see / hear the cross was deflected to Grigg and that's what caught him out !!

I wonder how many times Boradbent has played in a 5 man defence even in his non league career? If we go with a 5 men defence Leads, Parts, Locks, Sweeney, Brown should be good enough, with Broadbent & Bola to come in on Tuesday. Not sure how much he has played in a 5, but on paper I think that side has a nice solid look about it, especially for a tough looking away fixture, but also with the ability to get a goal or two. I understand he has played that many a time even wing back on the left (as seen on his video clips)

Slocombe Lockyear Sweeney Broadbent Partington Lines Clarke Bola Bodin Sercombe Gaffney Much better more balance to the team and allows more attacking options and looks stronger at the back !

Time to give Broadbent a go? Didn't do too well at Bradford. I'm more suprised DC hasn't used three at the back this season. He used it a lot last couple of years, especially away from home. Might help to keep the goals against count a little lower! Who did He was the best of the 4 at the back then take into account a non existent midfield !! going by tonight there are a few that need a good kick up the arse !!

I see a lot of us are felling confident today - choosing 5 at the back Hoping we don't - think it will be a tough game - partly because of our injuries and form - think it will be a 1 -1 or 2 -2. ( but obviously praying we'll play better and be more solid). Hope to see Telford and Bola get some action ! Our forms 5 wins 1 defeat from 6 so going by that we're in good form. I'm putting a fiver on 2-1 and a fiver on 3-1 I'm going for 3 at the back tonight with wing backs Bola and Parts !!

Well said, to many quick to point the finger when they need to look at the wider picture !! And what is "the wider picture" after such a dire performance. No excuses for poor team set up, selection and performance - it was shambolic and embarassing end of. The wider issues are the midfield not tracking back or supporting forward, to many pointing the finger at individuals, poor defending at corner's / set pieces as a team and not just as a back four !! END OF !

One thing you dont need against a very good bradford side when your forced to play 2 inexperienced centre-halves is poor performances from experienced players which is what we had today. I know people love scapegoats and we could all see how the goals happened but it was a poor team performance. On the positive side of things i thought ellis had a great game, bodin had some good moments and broadbent stuck to his task very well overall. Well said, to many quick to point the finger when they need to look at the wider picture !!

Broadbent really could not do much for the 3rd their striker was going to get that goal whatever and he could have damaged himself on the post. The issue was that 2 others let the cross come in. Really? He was clearly the wrong side of his man before the ball went in the box. Yes but should the player been able to beat two players so easily to get the cross in, in the first place let's face it if we had been better at closing down and not giving so much space thing may have been different ! history now move on and get over it !
