Anyone remember how successful Larry Lloyd and Stuart Taylor partnership was? - well, how about Sweeney and Broadbent - worth trying? Said it at the start, and confirmed after yesterday, play the three at the back Locks right Sweeney middle And Tom left better balance and more pace to cover round and behind ! the problem is leaking goals stop that and we are already in a better place !

Strange not to have in the squad after his performance at Charlton. Not really as v. unlikely he would be called upon today as sub and Partington a better option on the bench. Well will be interesting to see the next squad after today ! strange comment to make to be honest as he is more versatile than Partington but we all have opinions !

Not Injured, spoke to him in the car park ! Welcome to the forum, but to let you know in the tradition of this forum, that's actually code for 'had a fight with him.' No chance he's bigger than me !!

Can anyone confirm his absence from the squad today was due to being injured or similar? Not Injured, spoke to him in the car park !

if he was as good as people think he would not be here ! That's a bit harsh, you could say that of any player at the club. Not really, they are at their level, he's come from a premier club you would think he would stand out for the right reasons !

Dc has always said no one is safe in the team and everyone needs to earn their spot but at least 3 players should be dropped but probably won't be.... Smith/ couple of good saves but shocking at commanding his box especially on crosses... Leadbitter/worst performance defensively I've seen from him and final product not good enough. Lockyer/ for me one of the players that need to be dropped..broadbent was m.o.m at charlton and then dropped. Sweeney/typical good solid performance apart fro bad pass to lockyer for one of their goals. Brown/ couldn't get forward enough as he was being dragged back by the posh pressing high up the pitch Bodin/flashes of brilliance and hope he's ours after august but one too many touches sometimes but really our only threat.. Lines/ was bossed in the first half by their midfield and due to our lack of movement ran out of options a lot. Should be dropped for Clarke and needs to man up throwing his boots about because he was subbed Sercombe/ I thought he had a decentish game but didn't have much help in the centre of the pitch Sinclair/shouldn't be playing left midfield and didn't even play his normal no nonsense game..I know dc favours him but sincs on the left was like playing with 10 players... Harrison/ shocking performance...not football intelligent to play at this standard...walks around socks hanging down in a world of his own...how we offered him a contract is criminal in my opinion...needs to be dropped... Nichols/ put a shift in and some nice touches but seemed to light weight and no strength in his attempts on goal... Gaffney/ made a difference when he came on but too late, Well taken goal and exactly done what Harrison should have done at 1-0 down Moore/clueless and no conviction...sideways and backwards is his formula...not even a good squad player... Clarke/ played with more conviction than lines but not enough time to judge Crowd were quiet today but not a lot to sing about... Dc needs to drop lockyer/Harrison/lines or Sinclair and play broadbent/Ollie/gaffney to show his word means something or I can see us getting worse... Sorry but Sweeney was poor today and the first goal was also down to him !! does not appear to be proud to wear the shirt !! if he was as good as people think he would not be here !

Did preseason at Stoke as a third string player...so prob not pushed too hard. Its a shame he didn't train at Rovers over the summer. He will take a month to get upto speed in my view...so maybe put Broadbent back in for a bit ??
Sweeney was training with the first team for a lot of pre-season and played in games for them in Switzerland and Germany. I'd stick with him for now, but Locks needs a kick up the backside. I'd give Burn an opportunity to show what he can do now. Really ?? you wouldn't think so on that performance, pushed the ball back to them for the first goal sloppy pass for the second and didn't even try to win it back. Surprised not to see Broadbent even on the bench today, after his display at Charlton by far the better player out there in Black, showed real passion and fight and and real pride to be wearing the shirt !!

We were dire today from the off. started with long ball tactics from the off which set the tone, and it was failing time and time again with neither Harrison or Nichols could hold the ball up. The defenders were all over the place, looked vulnerable every attack. None looked comfortable on the ball. Leadbitter performance the worse of the lot, looked out of his dept maybe due to injury. Sweeney months best I've seen him play but can't expect him to carry the side when it was crumbling around him. The midfield never played as a unit. Sinclair was supposed to be out wide but drifted in central. Lines had no impact on the game at all. Sercombe looks like a clever football made some intelligent passes. Bodin great when he has the ball, good effort hitting the bar but sometimes wish he make simple pass. Up front we had no real presence, Harrison just doesn't look cut out for it, Nichols had a few good shots made some nice passes but never really troubled their defenders. Performance was disjointed and lacked any energy, so slow moving the ball around and off the ball players were standing still. Struggling to see how we are much better than last year right now. DC must bring in 4 players who are good enough to be in the 11. There are far too many questions marks against the players in our team, some you would say arent good enough. A wide player to play opposite side to Bodin, Striker who is strong and that can hold the ball up, a certain Lambert is still available, would bring just what we need to our game and leadership which also just doesn't exist. I must have been at a different game today !! Sweeney cost us the first two goals, he does not look interested very slow and looks unfit !!

Why isn't Ellis Harrison a physical presence ? I don't think L1 defenders think it's going to be a walk in the park when they're up against him. He may not be Rickie Lambert on the deck but he is strong and has a good leap. Broadbent is Sweeney's understudy he's just made his league debut - let him learn to be a defender at a higher level. Very strange comment to make " Understudy" having seen both play, Broadbent on Saturday and Sweeney tonight you would be hard fought to tell what one had come from a Premier Club !!

Got to go with the 3 at the back and let the full backs push on, Lockyer, Sweeney, Broadbent, a great back three with height and strength and also pace !!

I'd be surprised if Sweeney plays tomorrow. DC likes to work with the team during the week to prepare for the Saturday. However, a 3-5-2 with Sweeney, Lockyer and Broadbent at the back looks tasty ! I Agree with you Nobby, a three at the back would be a great way forward, and good cover for the full backs pushing on !!

Broadbent is a man mountain in the Sweeney mold. Some were saying he didn't look good with the ball at his feet on Saturday though. He wasn't really tested that much at Weston from what I saw Again give guy time, and DC is the judge, but at league 1 you got to be fairly good on the ball. Agreed give them both (trialists) a chance i don't think it's a case of not being good on the ball, they both looked good on the ball in the Melksham game and were the only two outfield players to play the 90. So I feel it's more getting used to the pace of the game and that will improve the more they are around the squad !

It's all about opinions I thought Broadbent did well yes got closed down in the first few minutes, but after that looked solid, and had our first chance to score, remember he's on trial nerves are bound to set in at first as he's playing for a future. As for slow feet it never showed didn't panic was always giving an option. Most of the team were off the pace maybe not wanting to pick up an injury and miss out on next weeks trip, just a thought !!

Just back from Slimbridge. It was a good test against a very well organised side and I think Gloucester will go well in Conference South this year. Bola played 1st half and looked pretty encouraging despite having to work the left side with Moore who's touch was poor although he did get better 2nd half. Harrison and Broom should have both scored 1st half, Harrison went with wrong foot when well placed to score but to be fair he kept going 2nd half when he clearly had a thigh problem last 15 minutes or so. Broom fluffed 2 good chances in a matter of moments 1st half. First time I have seen Sercombe play and he was disappointing for me, he also missed a sitter after being well set up by Ellis. Burn only did ok without really convincing and the triallist Broadbent is not the answer at centre half he is decent in the air but not the best on the ground and seemed to want too much time on a couple of occasions and got closed down far too easily. Not much more to say really. Didn't go today but interesting about Broadbent. Although only against Weston and Mangotsfield, I have been very impressed with Menayese. I think he would be good cover toward the end of the season if he keeps it up!
