I think we're possibly over thinking the size of this thing, it's going to be a cheapish temporary stand, it won't mean knocking other stands down or moving the pitch, it won't need a lift to get top the top tier or anything like that.

My son said they all look the same with shaved heads!! I think this is why we are on such bad form. Pass it to Evans. Umm which one is Evans, everyone looks the same. The one who still can't take a decent corner.

If this new stand manages to get built, then I suggest the club demolish the main stand {centenary stand) andbiuld a new structure that goes the entire length of the terracing. There is plenty of space to do this and could up the capacity to 15 - 16,000 'Cause that'll be cheap won't it.

So how high was the south stand on the plans when they were going to build students accommodation on the plans to help with build costs, looking at the old photos of the plans the south stand was twice the height of what it is now, did we not get planning permission for these plans with regards height of south stand? Yes, we did have planning permission for the 18.5K stadium with built in student accomodation.
As you said, the proposed height was much taller than the current South Stand, probably around the height of the East / West stands, but on all four sides. Imagine that!
That's all we can do.

Were they owned by the Club or the Owners (I can't remember if it was Dunford or Higgs?). may have been individually bought before the redevelopment plans got approved and publicised? I've no idea Chap.

Regarding the height issue and any possible objections. Do the club still own any properties in alton Road or were they sold off? Looking on google earth there seems to be an area of wasteland to the south/south west of the south stand. Its not big ( and looks like it has a couple of kids trampolines in it). Not sure if rovers own it but if cleared would give a bit better access to any new south stand. Maybe we're buying the trampolines so the fans can bounce up and down to see over the new Stand?

Hopefully the area where the big screen is will get some attention, it's a dump.

Yep that’s acknowledged, the point being when there isn’t a glut of fruit they will export to those countries that are closest and easiest. Last on the list will be a country where is more costly and time consuming. That’ll be us and that’ll be Brexit . As with nearly everything this country is going down the pan for , Brexit has made things worse than they otherwise would have been. Remember we were going to get cheaper food ? 😂🙄 Everything is going wrong in the UK, and we were promised everything would get better. It's not all directly related to Brexit, apparently, but it's going more wrong here than in the average of the rest of the EU. So if we accept our lack of cucumbers, and car firms leaving Britain, and GDP declines are just events, events unrelated to Brexit, we have to wonder where we'd be if these non Brexit related happenings had happened if we'd still been in the EU? Slowly recovering.

Why would we share the south stand with away supporters. Give them the east terrace up to the halfway and give them a section of seating in the east stand. No thanks.

Personally as a Barton hiller I would say the fruit market is south of the river. Traditionally the feddar is the dividing line. The Netham side was inner North . The old St Philips Marsh was inner south. The fruit market is closer to lower Totterdown ( City ). I do take your point about needing a new ground but I feel a club is reflective of a community and its involvement. I can understand it if we moved to a nuturel rural area but this feels like City soil !. The Feeder isn't the river though. Fruit market is north of the river and whatever spin you care to put on it, that's actual fact. Actual fact? On Gaschat? What sort of voodoo is this?

We the Green Party having a majority on the Planning committee now i can only see the wait getting longer Why would anyone vote in the anti capitalist, anti investment, nimby tree huggers into a major city in need of investment, infrastructure and regeneration is beyond me. Because it's falling apart under the current lot?

While I don’t agree with the Bellshaw chants I think they were aimed at the manager and the way he has handled this whole goalkeeper situation. I think Bellshaw has been treated terribly and the public shaming of him on the media is far worst than a few chants from the terrace. As for posters on here moaning about how rubbish the Thatchers end is and how poor the atmosphere is, well they haven’t had much to sing about lately tbf and without the Thatchers there would be zero atmosphere. There's an atmosphere in the East Stand, but I think that's down to the pasties.

No matter what you think of Belshaw or Barton, the Belshaw chants were, as the OP says, totally embarrassing. I'd have backed Balcombe to just boot it into his own net and flip the finger up at those that sang it. That won't help anyone.

I think we get it, you don't like Belshaw and will defend Balcombe for the terrible run of form since he's been between the sticks. Typically in this forum people have to take polarised views. Pro-Barton or anti-Barton; pro- Belshaw or anti-Belshaw. For the record, I do like Belshaw and would support him 100% when he is playing for us, as I would with any player. What I genuinely don't get is why people think his performances this season mean he should automatically remain as our number 1; and why Balcombe should be blamed for the last few defeats. We all know that even top keepers make mistakes (eg 2 howlers in Liverpool vs RM last night) so one or two from either Belshaw or Balcombe I can live with. But the love-in for Belshaw seems to be based on last seasons 'player of the year award' which has made him untouchable in the eyes of many. From what I have seen Balcombe is a better all round keeper- deals with crosses better; better shot stopper; better distribution. For those reasons I hope he continues to be selected, and I hope our wonderful fans get behind him on the pitch, whatever they think privately. Belshaws performances this season saw us 4 points off playoffs, Balcombes performances has seen us lose 4 out of the last 5 games. That's it.

Enough money to do it? Possibly. Enough money to not get any return on the investment? Doubt it. We've spent 30 years trying to build something which gives a decent ROI, perhaps if we'd just built something we'd be getting a decent ROI now as a Championship side. If the FM is now dead and no alternative is imminent then we could be waiting another decade plus for a new ground, whilst losing £3m a season. Championship side. You wrote that?
