I remember when I was 8 the most popular kid in my class had a birthday party, everyone was invited but me and still over twenty years later I still don't know why? I feel your pain Geoff , stay strong ! I dont know what the truth is, but that is a bit daft. Geoff for better or worse has given 30 years to the Gas and has to all intents and purposes retired. If he was stopped from attending, that would be pretty sad and wrong. But he wasn't stopped - he didn't buy a ticket. And the tweet from Peter Dunford isn't exactly clear - "I believe so" - in other words "I don't really know". In terms of abuse, I asked Dinsdale what was the point of his OP and was he just stirring things up - if that's abuse he needs to grow a pair.

Wouldn't it be a better world if the headline was just "Player applauded by fans"? Agreed Hugo but when that black goalie accused our fans of racial chanting the press were all over it. So in a way it would be good if they reported the applause the Braintree player received last night - it's very rare that an opposition goal is applauded whoever score it though.

Warning this thread contains football politics !!!!! Dear Brian, hoping to sound you out on this at the game but can you clarify a couple of things for me. 1. Why did we take out a 12 month high interest style loan of over £2m as opposed to a more stable loan and have the club planned for how they will repay this if the stadium plan falls through. 2. It has now been confirmed by the Dunford family that they were told their presence was not welcome at the recent valentines ball. I believe Geoff has attended every one for two decades. Can you cofirm why a family who saved our club and who are part of its fabric have been treated in this way? Are they also going to be banned from games like Kevin was? Thanks Brian, great to see the club progressing on the pitch but lets not forget our manners and our history. Didn't always agree with Geoff like i didn't always agree with Kevin Spencer but Its a shame. You seriously think either question will be answered on a public forum? Or are you just stirring it?

If he was utter utter s**t (which i disagree) what does that make our current strike pair? it has no link to them BUT... they are a strike pair who've played for us a fraction of the time Harrold had, who are paid far less than Harrold was, and who are surrounded by a team who are paid far less (and supposedly lesser players) than the team Harrold was surrounded by. AND they are both strikers I'd MUCH rather have over Matt Harrold. How the f*ck can you knock our current players in favour of one of the players largely responsible for our relegation!? Now that p!sses me off! With Matt Harrold in the side, we fell LOWER & LOWER & LOWER. With Matt Taylor and Nathan Blisset in the side, we've made progress, up & up! Are you serious trying to suggest that Matt Harrold is better than them? The players could read this forum, are you seriously telling our current strike pair, that despite earning us the opportunity to go top tonight, we don't think they are as good as a striker who got us RELEGATED FROM THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE!!? What a joke MATT TAYLOR & NATHAN BLISSET OVER MATT HARROLD & ANY OF HIS GAS STRIKE PARTNERS - ANY DAY! Matt Harrold hardly played the last two seasons, so can only be held responsible for our relegation in that he was injured and therefore not scoring goals. We'll never know if we might have stayed up if Harrold, Broghammer, Gill etc. had not been so badly injured - I suspect we would have done OK with them in the team. I'm not sure there is any point comparing our old strikers with Taylor and Blissett - we are playing at a lower level and we can only really compare them if/when we are in league 2 again - I suspect they will be fine having had the whole season as full-time pros under Marcus Stewart's coaching - hopefully we will find out next season.

I have to ask it. Not in a negative way, you understand, but - I wonder how much we're paying him? Less than we paid Kirsty is my guess. Maybe he gets paid by the hour for consultancy but as he is a Gashead I would guess he's applying mates rates.

Good area for them, right sort of demographic as well I wish! Area full of sandal wearing, bearded teachers and leftie Green idiots - Waitrose is what they would all want! Or perhaps Holland & Barrett could open a HUGE superstore - they would definitely be keen on that one. Lentils and dried prunes anyone?

The 10 minutes sin bin for a yellow card would be useful too.

There is no doubt that the last 5 years have seen a harsh economic environment in this country where (not the Premiership) it has become increasingly hard to maintain your support Maybe this is the first area families have had to got back on to make ends meet, other clubs have had to drastically cut there admission charges to get fans through the gates At Bristol Rovers we have an incredible loyal support and like you iam even prouder to wear the shirt in adversity But the club needs to tap into this fan base and be far more proactive ! We should attempt to go a stage further we have the most expensive admission charges but still get fans through the gate however we still have room at the Mem for another 5000 it was great to see the south stand busy on Saturaday we should allow under 16 in with an adult for a £5 in any part of the ground for the rest of the season Aggresive season tickets for next season should be announced now (similar to Bradford City ) reward that loyal support and build on it !! Bradford City would have gone bust without that league Cup run - their cheap season tickets were catching up with them and each season they had to sell 10,000 or so just to keep going! Another season and they would almost certainly have entered Administration. We should sell tickets for next season at this season's early bird prices regardless of which league we expect to be in next season, a bit like 82 did the year they got to the Championship playoff final so they sold several thousand STs to people who thought they would be in the Premier League.

I hope DC stays whatever happens. He's the first decent manager we've had since Trollope and the manic hiring and firing since then has been our undoing IMO. We need a consistent approach and if that takes a little patience then let it be so. Well said! I'd probably put Francis part 1 in place of Trollope though Would have been Ollie apart from his tendency to blow up just when we looked like achieving things. I liked PT but once Lennie had gone he seemed well out of his depth. A nice guy though.

I'd much rather be in the bottom half of League 2 than out of the football league altogether, can't believe anyone really thinks doing well in a division half made up of part time sides is better than the alternative to be honest. BRFC will slowly die a death outside of the football league. That wasn't part of the question - so you're saying because we are in the Conference you cannot enjoy the football. I made no suggestion it is preferable to bottom half of League 2 in terms of status and finance, just that it's more enjoyable. The two parts are not related to each other. I am obviously hoping for promotion this season and next season come to that - just in time for when South Bristol get relegated from the Championship and join us in League 1

OK - I don't like the fact that we're in the Conference but I have to say that the whole atmosphere is much more enjoyable than League 2. Away clubs and their supporters are very welcoming (even FGR), the football is more fun, Rovers are winning a lot more games. It reminds me of the atmosphere when I first started going to games in 1957 (apart from the crowd was always about 25,000 then) and I must admit I have been pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable it is.
Of course, if you equate the size of the football club with the size of your todger it is not much fun, but I tend to only be interested in Rovers so I'm not especially bothered that South Bristol are doing well in a higher league.
So is it better to be crap in League 2 or good in the Conference from a pure enjoyment viewpoint?

Hopefully DC will take us back into the league this season, but if not and GJ's still out of a job ummm Clarke says he will take Rovers up this season, I hope he does and we move on with him at the helm. If DC fails, then I guess he will walk, or be pushed, enter Gary Johnson, worked ******* miracles at the village club in south somerset, got contacts all over the place, would be be a great addition to BRFC, subject to vacancy. UTG I think the actual quote (after game 3) was "we will finish in the top 5". We all though that was hilarious at the time. Obviously, the aim now has to be automatic promotion - I would hope that any top 6 club has exactly the same aim. Gary Johnson has failed 3 times and succeeded 3 times. DC has succeeded 3 times (Salisbury) and been blamed for one failure although based on his comments at the Q&A session in August, JW simply ignored his suggestions, so I don't blame him for the relegation.

Risky, thought they'd just tie it up till the summer at least It could be his agent who is not agreeing for him to sign for longer, not the club refusing to offer a longer contract - I don't know but agents are a complete pain in the rectum!

Oh no, we'll only be able to take 40,000 fans! I can't see this being a big seller but I'm half tempted to go for a couple of £10 tickets just in case we have to play there. On the other hand, paying more for tickets means Rovers get more funds - tricky one!!

Here's a thought - why not give the kid a chance to show what he can do? DC doesn't sign players for the wrong reasons and, as we saw with Dave Martin, if they do get a bit of an attitude they're out of the team. I have no idea how good (or bad) Josh is but I'm willing him to be brilliant during the next month. Of course, if we could re-borrow LDV that would be the icing on the cake - LDV one wing and Dawson the other!

Dawson is a right winger that can play on the left, LDV is a left winger that can play on the right, having both of them for the rest of the seaon would be the best possibly outcome, and give us the best chance of success, we should do whatever it takes to get hm back This sounds like that bl**dy annoying Twix advert!

So is the thinking that this new bunch buy the Mem from Sainsbury's so that Sainsbury's then pay us? And what are Icon Venue then going to do with the Mem? Why would they want it? Because the Mem is just about the most iconic (or do I mean ironic?) sports stadium in the world - Bernabau, Nou Camp, Allianz Arena? None of them compares to The Mem. (well the last part is true but in a different way)
