Garner apparently came to the club highly recommended, you could ask did he support the appointment of a manger who had never managed any side at any level before, never played at any level other than Sunday morning who took us from 4th from top to 4th from bottom in just under a year and was fired with a win ratio of 18.75% worst in the history of the club after 32 games. Should we have given him 10 more games . . . ? 😁

Thanks. Probably a T.I.A. I asked the doctor if I will live to sit in our new stadium. T.I.A? Transient Ischaemic Attack - like a mini-stroke, I think?

Anyone know how many weeks he has been at the club? Actually, the appointment was announced on 19/11/20, so 17 days (or 2 weeks & 3 days . . .) 😉

How are these the same players who couldn’t string 3 passes together at Swindon? I think maybe they’ve been told to play with a bit of freedom, rather than sticking rigidly to a “plan” ?

20 shots and 65% possession by the Gas 20 shots on goal, 14 on target . . . FOURTEEN! That’s more than we managed in all of Garner’s 33 games put together! 😀

He was never the right man for the job-total knee jerk decision bringing him in-Garner should have stayed and eventually it would have come good. PT is not the answer and now odds on we will be in the basement league next season. How many more times is this fantasy going to be aired on here? He had 33 bloody games and there were no signs of it ever coming good. Nada. Nothing. Zilch. He may have been a great U-23 coach but as a manager he was an abject failure.

Funny that, isn't it? They were all so eager to give him more and more games to prove himself, when all he actually did was take us further & further down the league, but none of this is St Ben's fault . . . And now a lot of them are on here laying into Tisdale after three games when he's trying to sort out his mess, when they were crying for more games after 30. Exactly! What was it about Garner that has inspired this near-religious fervour in his disciples? I just don't get it . . .

Dear Garner boys. Tisdales form does not mean Garner was a good manager. It does not mean the clubs decision to get rid of him was a bad idea. If anything, it validates it. This squad is probably the most unbalanced, inexperienced, most disorganised and inept squad I've seen as a gashead. That lies at Garner's feet. And yeah, probably Widdrington's too. His promotion seems misplaced right now. I don't blame Tisdale one jot for the last three league performances. I can see signs of improvement. But we're going to have to hold on for January and hope he can work with Widdrington to right the wrongs over the last two windows. This. Very much this.

I wonder who I was taking about? I haven’t called for his head you did after 2 games and I’m not setting up posts solely to slag the manager off like you did , I disagree with his substations and his team selection with upson on but like I’ve said before because you have no normal life and a weird virtual one on here thinking you own the site I’m not allowed to voice a opinion on a game but you can do what you want. One of life’s dickhead It was after 20 odd games not 2 games and if we're going by how we judged Garner then maybe we should wait until he gets his own staff in, gets his own players in, we'll then give him at least 10 games so his players can gel. We'll then let him sign some more players in the summer and give him another 10 games as it's only fair 🙄 if it starts badly after a few games we can forget all the games form the previous season and say he's only managed 2 games!! Funny that, isn't it? They were all so eager to give him more and more games to prove himself, when all he actually did was take us further & further down the league, but none of this is St Ben's fault . . .

If garner made these subs there would be an uproar and separate posts made instantly All you've done is moan about Tisdale since he came in. Give it a break. Obviously a Garner fanboy. Yep

Maybe limited crowd for it by January, only those that attended the watney cup final, anyone else still alive? Absolutely- and I was there Yep, me too; 9 years old and it was my first ever Rovers game. Went with my granddad and his best mate - It was rammed and we had to go in the open end.

Thought that was another good interview from the Gaffer tonight; as soon as he said “We were solid, but we weren’t good . . .” I warmed to him even more - he’s honest (so far), clearly doesn’t “gild the lily” and seems to have a definite plan in mind. What do the rest of you think?
Oh, and could someone with the right contacts pleeeeaase point out to that Hoskin bloke that PT’s surname is TISDALE, not TIDSDALE . . .

Blimey, sometimes this place is more interesting and funny even than the TV on some nights. 1981 has given a great account of what I think about TW as well. I can’t beat that. But it’s obviously Tommy W’s turn to get flak on here now. Can’t blame GC, nor BG, nor DC so let’s look at TW who appeared (imo) to be doing a decent job and seemed to be a kind of stability in terms of recruitment which is far, far better than poor DC had to deal with more or less on his own. Tis has taken over and it’s pretty unfair to criticise him for the disappointing result at Swindon and the far better display at Wigan with an ok result. So let’s blame TW. People seem to need someone to blame so as we can’t blame Tis let’s have a go at TW and perhaps the recruitment wasn’t as good as it should have been. Certainly the squad looks unbalanced and we’ve gone from few central midfielders to a large number. No idea whose fault that is. I think swiss on the other place made a very good observation about an inexperienced manager in BG needing some guidance, who manages the manager. Not sure who that should have been, Now that TW has been made DOF perhaps in the future it would be the role of the DOF, but not TWs role before he became DOF I’d have thought. Recruitment is never going to be all good, perhaps the best we can expect is that the successes outnumber the failures. I’m pleased TW is joining the board as DOF, though I suspect his duties and role won’t be that different. It’s good to see Wael surrounding himself with people who are talented in their particular roles and all pushing in the same direction. UTG! i agree re a blame culture but I don’t think folk are blaming TW as such, obviously some are still blaming DC though. What I don’t understand is that most people feel we have a very unbalanced squad, if we are saying it was all down to BG, then surely, as the Head of Recruitment TW, should have at least set the alarm bells going. Now he is DOF but he did say he had been basically doing it anyway. Unless Wael told Tommy to let Ben have his own way during the last window, then I find it astonishing that TW is not partially responsible for the standard of the recruitment. I really hope Tisdale can get them to gel as a team, but think he will need reinforcements in January. Not sure what the actual situation is, but for what it’s worth my opinion is that TW went out and got the players Garner said he wanted. So Garner specified the type of player he was after, TW scouted them, spoke to them & their agents, lined them up for Garner and then Garner chose the ones he thought best fitted the squad he was building. So although TW scouted the players, it was ultimately Garner’s decision about who got bought.

When we sold JCH I remember Garner saying "we dont need a like for like player", and I remember thinking "Oh yes we do". So Hanlon who has just about 18 months of League One footy, a player from non league and one from an academy, and that is our strike force. How did the Board allow this to happen? Surely they kept a tab on how Garner was spending the money. Plus 12 defenders and 11 midfielders; it's obvious that they are not all going to get games, and this is going to cause unrest I fear. They need to do something creative, and quick. Any news on our London Academy? Anyone? In all fairness, the board appoint the manager/coaches/recruiters to do this side of things - if they were experts on pitch-side going’s-on they’d be picking & coaching the team and wouldn’t need the others to do it for them . . .

I thought that was a pretty good interview, to be honest. He’s clearly aware of where we’re falling short, clearly aware of the situation he’s been handed regarding strikers, and is still feeling his way around in the dark, so to speak. Pretty positive, I reckon. Fight me . . . He’s forthright, I like that. Not a fan of excuses so I think he laboured it a bit too much with the old “what can I do?” about having had only one training session (one training session since Thursday night?!). Just don’t mention it and talk about the game! But other than that I’ve warmed to his media personality. He inspires more confidence than bullshit bingo Garner, although that’s obviously not saying too much! Hah - yep, admittedly Garner isn’t exactly a tough act to follow on the interview front. But like you, I too am warming to his media personality; it’s still early days yet, but I think we can probably expect his interviews to be more forthright, honest and accurate than we’ve been used to of late . . .

Do take your point - don't get me wrong. Buts it's nonetheless all ifs and buts really. The fact is we've failed to score - and barely registered a shot on target - in two games against (and I'm being serious now) two of the worst teams I've ever seen us play in a league game. We can make excuses and say "oh but what if" etc. but that is sh**e and its also alarming. I'm more alarmed by the fact that clearly Tisdale is going to be given no chance by so many fans. We've got some very winnable games coming up. Obviously it's frustrating we didn't win tonight but that was miles better than Saturday. Do we not think there is a possibility that Tisdale took a gamble at halftime that we were unlikely to lose and the subs were part of sounding out the squad “on the hoof” as it were . . ?
