27 years since we met Sheff Utd in the league. Hope we can bring back 3 points tomorrow. Wasn't it at twerton...I seem to recall a full away end and maybe they got promoted that season I was 10, and not there. I'm sure you are right though.

Basically he's an 'upmarket' beggar, using pseudo-charity stylings to scrounge cash. He won't get a penny out of me. I have given to pukka charities, the club have authorised to do collections inside the ground - that won't change.

Also factor there are still 'summer events' going on - I have a season ticket, but attended an event up North. Ill be back at the mem this evening. Most of us don't just support Rovers we have other stuff going on, so making every game just isnt possible.

UWE

If UWE is done (presumably due to disagreement on the freehold), then isn't it time to copy the mob in BS3 and just redevelop the Mem? Do a side at a time with the larger stands done in the off-season.
It's a damn shame the upgraded mem plans have long since expired; it had accomodation (possible hotel), local services and looked pretty good. Although we were earmarked to go temporarily to Whaddon Road, there must be some capacity to do a similar project in phases and keep playing at home (with major works between may and july).
I hope the board are re-examining the Mem, if UWE is a no go.

One thing nobody is mentioned is that we played 120 mins on Tuesday, a tough game on Sunday followed by another one last night, then another tough one on mid day Saturday perhaps DC just wanted to use all his 1st team players and playing 3-5-2 allowed him that option last night? What was noticeable last night was the gap between the midfield 3 and the strikers, which Easter eventually filled, surely that was a position Lines should have filled in the first half? Although Bolton got lucky with their first goal as OC was clearly pushed off the ball (Edit: having watched the highlights it was a bit of a powder puff push then again it on the edge of Bolton's penalty area so a bit harsh to lay the blame totally at OC's door) then the shot took a wicked deflection off Sincs, then the second was from a needless foul. Isn't kick off 1500? Have I missed something?

I wish Gosling well, quite cultured and there were some occasions when he looked dangerous down the wing running at defenders, but probably a bit too lightweight - even last season. All the best Gos, I hope it works out.

I remember that overlapping goal at Trashton, first minute of the game. One of the most memorable games i've seen.

Thanks for confirming that Dwayne Sports are a Private Company, I do not have the time to confirm that but is was obviously the case. I lived in Jersey for 5 years and am well aware of why companies are set up in the Channel Islands. There is nothing wrong in it, but at the moment I fail to understand the reason for doing so.
I have spoken to a lot of Gasheads and the majority of them believe that the MSP loan has been paid off and BRFC are no longer expected to clear it. The £3+m has not disappeared it is just residing in a different companies accounts. I will be asking a question at BRFC's next AGM as to whether we are paying any fees/interest etc on that money?
I also expect that the "consultants" are on the books of Dwayne Sports and I'd love to know if this also involves any fees etc to BRFC.
How do you know for certain the wonga loan hasn't been paid off and is still on the books? As far as the consultants are concerned as they are acting for Rovers I can't see it's an issue if they are paid by the club, after all NH wasted millions in legal costs pursuing Sainsbury's! Didn't someone post up all the ltd details from companies house, about a month after the takeover showing all the debts settled? Almost all of the due diligence undertaken by the Al-Qadis must have been centred on clearing all the debt.

I'm pretty sure that our new owners - if both they, and DC thought JET was worth it they would be willing to pay him 5-10k per week. However I don't believe he, is and I dont believe they do either so it's a no go. I would be seriously concerned if we were paying players 10k a week. It's not sustainable and goes against everything the new owner has said. Paying over the odds got us into trouble last time and I hope to god we've learned from that and don't go down that route again While i'd never condone paying £10k a week to a 3rd tier player, the old board were financially hamstrung by the mortgage on the Mem and more latterly by all the other debts accumulated chasing UWE. That debt has been paid off, so presumably much more of our income is now available for wages. I guess Hamer and the other new board members (who all have pedigree) and DC (new contract) haven't come cheap. I'm sure there will remain a structure and new signings will have to conform to it, but it may well be significantly higher than in the past. It's also worth considering that any player from a higher division club (JET or no) may be willing to take a pay cut in the interim to kick start their career or get a longer, more secure contract. We do have knack, historically, of rejuvenating the careers of forwards who have struggled elsewhere.

Less travelling than this season. No Hartlepool or Carlisle. More centralised league. Looking forward to going to Bolton.

Ok, the only 'facts' that I can see are these; Steve Evans is still in post (imagine how he feels!) Leeds chairman likes to change managers a lot. He has offered the job to the MK dons bloke who has turned him down. He asked BRFC for permission to talk to DC Leeds did not meet the pre conditions, so permission was refused. Now, looking at the DC we think we know, he doeas things 'properly'. If BRFC have said he doesn't have permission, any talks with leeds would be 'tapping up' and he would be in breach of contract? Possibly? So he probably hasn't had talks with leeds, so everything is pure speculation and rumour. And paper talk So he stays. Because he's not mad. I don't believe that DC and Cellino spoke on the phone - that sounds like paper talk. But, Clarke could go to Hamer today and say that he is interested in talks with Leeds, at which point a settlement figure would need to be finalised between the club and leeds. I'm sure Clarke has a strong bond with the club and with the locale, but the guy is ambitious and if anyone could turn a club like a leeds around it'll be someone like DC.

Fu(k me, what has the bloke done to get all the sh!te? Its not as if he called all Bristolians Fools. He got us promoted, didn't take any cheap shots when he left. Yet he still gets sh!te written about him. Maybe Buckle has got a point? Agree 100%. I wish him well and hope he does well. 6 years of coaching, plus being part of the national set up should help him. Whatever happened at times during his reign, sublime and ridiculous, he brought some good times and memories to the club and enjoyed most of it. Good luck PT.

Ellis lives close to Newport and Billy in Wiltshire; so surely a big plus for them re-signing is that they won't need to relocate. I can't see Bodin going, but Ellis may want first team football.

B.ristol R.over's E. X. I. T. from league 2 into league 1 is fully supported. There will be only benefits (bigger grounds, bigger crowds, bigger games). Anyone who doesn't support Brexit is a deluded red fool (probably true for the other Brexit too).

How do we know we are away? I'm interested as I want to sort my holiday, but would love to be at the first home game. Second weekend of the new season is the Bristol balloon fiesta I believe. The 82ers can't be home on this weekend so we have to be, hence we'll be away on the first weekend. That's the usual theory anyway! Thanks; If i'm honest I just assumed the balloon fiesta was weekend 1 of August and that we would start at home.
