I have read both forum most days since May, much to my other half's dismay, but have not posted once! But with 2 days to go till the kick off I thought I might share a few thoughts......
Firstly DC continues to impress me, and I am really chuffed he is at the helm. I really trust him. He talks sense, talks realistic and does not talk for the sake of it. Come what may this year I will only judge him at the end of the season. His comments on his expectations this season (pushing for top 7) and in the longer term (top half of league 1) are the same as mine.
Stadium - yawn. can't personally affect it so don't worry about it. And I much prefer standing anyway.
the board / Higgs - I read all the stuff people post, the abuse, the clever educated comments, the snidey remarks etc and I just sigh....we are a divided fanbase and have some pretty mean nasty fans.....the people on the board etc are surely not in it to make money but must be gas heads or why would they bother.....surely there are easier ways to make money and avoid the abuse they get. They definitely get it wrong regularly but their motives are surely not as sinister as people want to tell us.
fun day - brilliant. Me and the kids loved it. Burgers and hot dogs were stupidly overpriced though. Players were great and got to thank the main man in person.
the squad / recruitment - really pleased......kept most of the squad and added wisely and steadily. Looking forward to seeing all the new guys. Again I trust DC more than any internet pundit as we really don't know as much as we think....budgets/characters/offers/agents/etc etc
Steve192k ..........absolutely no offence meant as you were one of my favourite posters last season but you seemed to have gone slightly mad this summer.....looking forward to your match reports though.
Alan Sugar - whoever you are ....well done.....my favourite poster last season.
This season.......want play offs, expect top half......demand passion and effort, which I think we will get so roll on Saturday.

4 definite aways for me, to achieve 92 grounds which will have taken since 1986!
Crawley (weekend in Brighton) Stevenage Wimbledon (weekend in London) Portsmouth (weekend in Bournemouth)
The weekends are necessary to ensure my other half comes happily...so if the fixture planners could take that into account please. We had a great weekend in Newcastle for the Gateshead game so hoping to do Hartlepool this time.
Living in the Midlands I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of local games.

Followed rovers for 30 odd years but this season has been one of my favourites, and if it gets better on Sunday brilliant. Been thinking about why and here's my reasons.....
1. Not being rubbish. Most years we are rubbish, but going to games without expecting to lose all the time is a much better feeling than the last few recent years. Being around the top of the table is great. 2. Less vitriol amongst the gas heads at the games and on the forum. Still hear the moaning, the bitching, the negativity but it's so much less. I'm not saying there are not grounds for moaning just that I personally don't enjoy it. 3. Some interesting away days.......love an away day ~ often more than home games. Really enjoyed Gateshead, Nuneaton, Alfreton and Southport 4. Manager ~ Loving what he has done so far, not got everything right but his heart is in it and he talks sense. 5. Players ~ they seem to give a sh** and really try, which is all I ask. 6. A packed Mem - last Saturday I arrived at my usual spot with about 15 mins to kick off and I actually filled up with tears at the prospect of how it would feel if we got promoted that day. Don't know why but it was emotional....and that's why I love Rovers.
come what may the above can't be taken away now, so thanks DC and players. UTG

Got to our free (won in a raffle months ago) city centre hotel about 9 last night, in the best curry house in the toon by ten with her looking hot.
Sat behind us was none other than Alan Shearer......I turned into a ten year old.....stars truck like never before. Felt best to leave him be as he was eating but quite weird feeling so giddy.
Then from nowhere the boss of my better half popped up.....he was entertaining some clients upstairs......bit watered but offered to pay for our dinner. sweet.
Was having a smoke outside after the main when I saw some lady talking to the Geordie legend, when she then came outside I asked her if he minded....she said ask the manageress as their friends....I did and she hooked us up. Shook hands, talked about England,Rovers and thanked him for not signing for man united but the toon. He was a proper gent and genuine and respected that we were there for rovers. He did refer to us as Bristol though .....had to correct him! I was a shaking wreck for ten minutes after.....my mrs was highly amused.
Anyway when he left he came past and shook my hand again and wished us luck for the match. Geezer. We then left for some beers in toon having spent only a fiver for a cab since arriving. Slipped into bed about 3:30am but woke at 7:30 excited about the match. Large fry up, a tour Of Newcastle and a visit to Whitley bay before landing at the match. Impressed with our numbers in the pub....and in the ground. Some good singing then it began and we couldn't get the ball. They had loads of corners and some half chances, we had beggar all. Last ten minutes of the half I felt we started to play ok so felt hopeful for second half. We were better but created no chances yet suddenly the ball fell to Ellis and he lobbed him and.....you know the rest.
Top weekend. About 2 and half hours till home but I will have to watch The Voice as can't be on it as something weird seems to have happened to my voice.
Thanks DC. Thanks players. Thanks Newcastle. UTG

The one I love has been driving since 2pm. Bit of traffic, bit of shopping in York on route. Many laughs. Satnav says we get to our hotel in 45 minutes.....table booked at best curry house in Newcastle.....followed by beers till we drop. Fry up planned and then it will be match time.....can't blooming wait!!!!!!
Top of the league, 88th ground visited, a team that give a dung and a manager that I believe in....is going to make for a wicked day come what may. Win, draw or lose I love the gas and we are going to have a great weekend.
and if we do win I will be ecstatic.
Haway the gas!!!!!
