Nick Higgs considered it to be his team? Is this a joke? Well what regular first team player did we sign when the new owners came in?

Lol, middle of May and you think we should be pushing 6,000 already. Some people.... Why Lol? whats the fact that it's the middle of May got to do with it? season tickets have been on sale for well over a month? find it very hard to get excited about 4.3k season tickets sold with the club riding the crest of a wave currently. sorry if you find it amusing. Totally agree with you.....all I hear is the great potential / fan base we have, and I would suggest that anything less than 6k by the start of the season will be poor. Given that 30k would have spent a fair chunk of money on a day out to Wembley etc, would have hoped that more could make the effort.

What a load of tosh! For a start the period under Trollope was the most successful this club has had in some 20 years! Really no need to shudder about that... Second of all, it was not Trollope who wanted Lennie out at all, it was our fan base at the time who inexplicably decided that we did not need Lennie anymore and thus demanded he was sacked! Our fans cost us massively big time back then and I just pray that we have learnt our lesson from that time. We became restless and decided that mid table in league 1 was not good enough... few seasons later we were in the conference... Sometimes you really do get what you wish for.. This is how I remember it as well. Of course some of the heavy defeats were very poor and alarming, but ultimately the pairing of Trolls and Lennie got us from a position of League 2 strugglers to League One midtablers. The way some fans started getting restless and the chaos that followed very much reminded me of when Charlton parted with Curbishley back when they were upper mid table in the Prem. They got fed up, demanding more, and their return was a swift decline into League One. We suffered a similar fate after deciding to get rid of Lennie. Trolls did underperform in his last few months as boss, but he deserves more credit for the good he did at our club. Absolutely spot on, I recall some moaning about the football and openly refusing to attend matches until PT was gone. There are many who are seemingly never satisfied...........see threads from this year, which included one regarding DC being out of his depth, supported by a few but thankfully on this occasion just a very small minority. You just know that this miniority will be much larger if we dare to struggle or lose a few next season completely ignoring all the good.

I think one of the keys things that we could do is show our commitment by increasing sales of Season tickets.
Given that the price now for league one football will be the same as what we paid for Conference football, then I really think we should be looking to far more sales here, which would hopefully start to show the potential that we may have.
City were averaging abt 13,000 in Lg1, so I think we need to start getting closer to a 10k average ourselves, and to have a chance of this, then we really need to get upwards of 6k season ticket sales. The manager, players and board are all seemingly committed, just a question of whether the supporters can match this.
Give that had we gone into the play off's and made it to Wembley, circa 30,000 fans would have found a fair chunk of money for a big day out, you would like to think that a number of those same fans would use this same money to buy a season ticket.

Why would people ask questions, he is our most successful manager ever!! and yet some people can't wait for a situation where they can have a real dig. Fortunately, they were all made to look stupid when that point ensured we gained auto promotion. Those same people will be out in force if we start badly next season, questionning DC's capability etc.
With regards to our 'lucky' promotions, I assume you also apply the same logic to our relegation season, and believe we were just massively unlucky??
Personally, I would love another season like the last two, having had some of my best moments ever as a Rovers supporter.

Amazing how bitter some people can be on here....no doubt the same types that were slagging DC off for only getting a draw at Stevenage!! To be clear, NH made mistakes, but given that the UWE, as it stands, was our only reall hope of a future, then he rightly went for it, then as we know was stiched up by the NIMBY's which then bought time for Sainsbury's to scupper the deal. During this period, against the wishes of many he retained DC, and provided him the support to mount two sucessful promotion campaigns. For a number of years NH has said that he was only prepared to sell to the right person, given that everyone are singing the praises of the new owners, then it would suggest he has very much delivered on this promise. And if / when we move into the UWE, then further praise must go to NH for brokering the initial deal. So in short I believe NH deserves some credit, and if nothing else some respect as a fellow fan, who always had Rovers best interests at heart. I can't recall anybody slagging DC off, just questioning his line up in a game that we had to win to keep our fate in our own hands. People expressed their disappointment, nothing else. The same happened last season remember so of course people are going to ask questions. I hardly think winning back-to-back promotions with virtually the last kick of both games is down to subtle planning, and I think he'd be the first to admit that luck was on our side, but team spirit and togetherness will help you ride your luck. Acci hit the bar three times don't forget. I hope we don't wait until the fat lady almost sings next season because my ticker won't stand it.

Seems like an awful lot of righteous and jealous people on here!!
Fair play to Steve Lansdowne I say.
He built a company from nothing, created a multi million pound business, which pays corporation tax, employs a lot of staff, all of whom pay NI & Income Tax, so .....and he is merely doing what everyone else does and minimises the tax he is due to pay.
Just because he is successful and rich people cannot wait to stick the knife in. Good luck to him, he has generated more tax than probably all on here put together!

So where are the pri*cks who were moaning that we bottled it at Stevenage?? I hope you take a good look at yourselves, and realise what tw*ts you are!! No doubt if we loose the first couples of games next season you will be out in force again! We were shot that night. The set up was wrong. We got the point that helped us secure promotion and you still think we got it wrong....unbelievable, what a misguided sole!

Give that we couldn't sell out 10,000 tickets for our game v Exeter, and a number of people on here were excusing it on grounds of affordability etc, then it will be interesting to see how many of those who 'couldn't afford' £20 for this match suddenly 'find' £150 stuffed down the sofa to fund a day out at Wembley!

Or DC is a legend for giving us a team to be proud of winning promotion and maybe winning back to back promotions ? Get a f**king grip. Legends can still b@lls up, unless we have a miracle next week then the Stevenage game will have cost us promotion. What a stupid shout, the season is over 46 games, there are many games that could have changed it, and who knows that 1 point at Stevenage may still get us promoted!!

I despair of some on here!! We have a striker who is highly likely to score 30 goals in a season, and still some are not satisfied, and are looking to find faults in his game.
A forward is rightly judged on his goals, and as top scorer, clearly MT is the best forward in the league, and we should be grateful that he plays for Rovers. Instead you have idiots trying to find faults, and worse still, some trying to justify the on-going, nasty and frankly laughable criticism he has continually received from the prize idiot on here T'bone.
I can only assume the people who post this sort of nonsense are the same types who like yesterday were shouting in disgust that DC hadn't made a substitution, the same types who complain that we 'only' drew an away game, and will be the ones who no doubt will say that we 'bottled it' if we fail to make automatic promotion.

I have to agree with Philistine, and somewhat with T Bone. IF we go up the standard will be that bit higher again. Can we afford the luxury of having a bit of a donkey in the side? His goal return this season is pretty good and 9 goals in 10 games or whatever is good but we could equally have lost those games and Taylor's goals would have meant nothing. TBH i think at the end of the season we should say " Thanks Matty, you did a decent job, all the best for the future" Please tell me you are joking.........if not that is one of the most ridiculous things I have read on here for a long time.

All tickets gone now apparently so not p**s poor at all. Secondly what if a supporter has no money to attend the game ? It means he/ she can't go doesn't it? What about work ? What about other commitments? What about it not being pay on the day ? All these things present obstacles to these people so they can't go. I will again say I was surprised it didn't sell out quicker but it's far from being p**s poor in my opinion. I respect your view I just don't agree with it . Anyway looking forward to Saturday UTG !!!! I'm not saying anything about one particular supporters inability to come, I'm saying as a fanbase overall, I am massively disappointed we couldn't sell out this game. And I really hope we did end up doing so, because I just find it a bit embarrassing that a club that so often speaks of it's amazing fanbase and potential wouldn't sell out this game. Not attacking specific people at all, but on the whole we surely must have enough fans to sell this one out! Absolutely spot on.....everyone coming up with excuses as to why people can't attend, but failing to sell all 9800 odd tickets available to home supporters for a game as crucial this is rubbish, no wonder C*ty refer to us as the blue few!!

Great, so given that C*ty's average crowd is abt 15,000 are you saying their fans are more wealthy and/or committed??!!!! Using the cost is an absolute joke, guaranteed most who say they cannot afford it will be out having a few beers on the weekend at about £4 a pop. It is not a lack of cash in most cases just the choice people make in how to spend it! Of course, people can choose to spend money how they wish, but I am just very disappointed that more 'supporters' could not commit to choosing Rovers over other priorities. what part of Utopia do you live in? Look, numerous people on this thread and many other threads have given genuine and heartfelt examples of their situations. If people wish to read this evidence and then ignore it, then so be i guess. I can also give you personal experience of how many people I've met when selling books in Bath who say they used to go a lot but go less now or not at all. Support ebbs and flows through years and decades, for a million life reasons. You might as well embrace it because it's not going to change. Great, I assume then that your in the camp that says we do not need a 21,000 capacity stadium? Because lets be honest, whilst it will be great to have nice facilities, when it comes down to it, it is sucess on the pitch that really determines attendances, and if we fail to sell out today then that tells me there are simply not enough supporters who really care enough to fill a larger ground.

Well I suggest you have a word with those who can't afford it, have to work, are paying for holidays and tell them how disappointed and embarassed you are by their lack of commitment. Let me know how that goes. Always an excuse, the simple fact is that many lack the desire and commitment to attend....and that is fine, I have no problem with that. Though you can guarantee that if by some miracle Rovers had made it to this weekend's FA cup semi - finals, then these same people would have found £150 for a day out! My disappointment is that Rovers as a club cannot sell out crucial matches like this. I keep hearing about our wonderful support......but the facts say different as it looks like we will fail to sell out this crucial match!

The point is obvious, it seems that we will fail to sell all our tickets for this huge match with promotion in our grasp, and having won virtually home game since xmas. That is embarrassing and shows the limit of our support. Fair play to all that have bought tickets, but it bugs me that probably about 2000 more have opted to buy tickets for the final game rather than this absolutely vital match. Maybe some have other commitments. Maybe some don't have the same sort of cash as you do and can't afford both? Great, so given that C*ty's average crowd is abt 15,000 are you saying their fans are more wealthy and/or committed??!!!! However you look at it, our failure to sell 10,000 tickets for this game is embarrassing. People quick enough to snap up tickets for the last game, but not bothered re this match. It does make me wonder just how many seats we will need in the new ground, because based on this probably no more than 15,000 at most. People on here are quick to call out our great support etc, but unless we sell all the remaining tickets, which I doubt, then this really does support the sh*theads views of our poor support. Like Previously posted by MM , 1,400 to Stevenage on a Tuesday night , 2,100 travelling up to York and our game against Dagenham being a sell out how can this be classed as anything other than great support ? People are also buying season tickets at the moment as well. Don't get me wrong personally thought we would of sold out for Exeter but fans aren't made of money and are trying to prioritise season tickets by the sounds of it which in the long run will be more beneficial. Anyway who cares what the shiteds think ! Don't make me laugh, are you saying that people committing to season tickets will not attend an absolutely vital game for the sake of £20.00!! It demonstrates that whilst our core support is great, as evidenced by the away attendances, it remains the hard core 7,000-8,000 people, with more casual supporters making up the difference. To make a success of any new ground we will need to increase this hard core number.
