Gary Kenneth on the pitch. Does that count, surely his position was anywhere else. And Derek Riordan.
On a serious note i recall our winger Tony Pounder playing up front against Swindon and ripping them apart. A successful move out of position

To paraphrase Mr Keegan I would bloody love it if we went up and they went down.

It's just a football forum thing, isn't it? When we win, who's going to comment that if DC had tried X upfront instead of Y, we could have scored a couple more goals? When we lose, all the moaners / would-be coaches / realists (delete as applicable), have a view that suggests ways in which DC could have prevented the loss. So inevitably, even when in the great scheme of things we are actually still doing really well, on an individual game basis, every defeat is going to attract a lot more debate than every victory. Presumably this also includes DC himself. He often comes on the radio and says 'if I'd done...' or 'Such a player didn't...' Maybe be he posts on here in disguise!

In an ideal world I guess we'd have two free scoring strikers. The question I'd want to ask is what is Gaffers/Ellis main role - is it to score or to create the gaps and opportunities for Taylor. Going back in time Devon scored goals but his main job was often setting up first Penrice and then Saunders which he did well. The one thing that team had was goals from the midfield - Boris, Ollie etc. all chipped in with a few. Only Bodin seems to do this in our current team which leaves us too reliant on Matty.

I didn't go to Charlton for a number of reasons. I have to admit to being surprised by the team selection and felt DC had focused on winning the home games over the Xmas period. Given our run of relatively poor results in Nov and Dec (2 league and 1 FA Cup win) I imagine DC was under a bit of pressure to produce the goods at home so maybe it isn't all that surprising. I could be wrong but it looked as if he was giving some players a chance to stake a claim to a team/squad place knowing he is planning to strengthen certain areas in January. If I had gone to Charlton I would have been cheesed off - not so much by the number of changes, as that does happen under DC, but by the quality of the performance. I don't claim to be an expert but Lawrence, Mansell and Sinclair was never going to be overly exciting or attacking and inevitably led to many of the problems on the day. However I think that overall the DC experiments work. We win more than we lose, the football is generally good to watch (especially at home) and we are in a better position than most of us expected two years ago. Like many I would settle for a year consolidating our position before we push on with the stadium and our rise up the championship and I accept that this will mean some weeks the football is rubbish or we get beaten. What I don't want to see are performances that remind of the bad times where the players look disinterested and out of touch with each other. I imagine all of us can take the odd defeat if we are beaten by a genuinely better side and the players put their heart and soul into the game e.g. Chelsea in the league cup. It's not a crime to question some of DC's tactics - especially after Shrewsbury and Charlton - and the travelling supporters perhaps see more of the negatives than those that don't go away but overall the picture is still positive and the club is going in the right direction which the majority of fans appreciate.

Losing Hartley is a massive blow but I'd happily see Clarke come in at right back but long term I don't think Clarke or leadbitter are at league one level. I agree with regards to Hartley. But on the other hand I think Leadbitter is capable of being league 1 level as he is young and learning. He needs to keep progressing and I believe he'll be fine. And I haven't seen too many RB this year who I can recall being considerably better than either Clarke or Leads. I'm sure there have been a couple but it's not like either have been outclassed in every game they play.

Is it possible that DC has someone in mind for the January window and let both Colkett and Chelsea know he would be dropping further down the pecking order? If so maybe both clubs and the player decided it would be better for him to return to Chelsea to find other options and to free up wages (assuming we contribute to CC) for the incoming player.

I'm a bit disappointed. Thought he looked really good at times. But I guess Chelsea don't want him just sitting on the bench and never playing. Good luck to him.

So the pantomime villain for today is Lockyer or Sinclair ? I'm sure some will also want Puddy on this list

you and many others don't deserve the pie, the standard of education in the UK is appalling, apparently 5/4ths of the population do not understand fractions. And of course there are 10 types of people in the world - those that understand binary and those that don't.

I agree that Ollie Clarke can do a good job for us but he can also be so inconsistent. He had a good game Saturday but is just as likely to be terrible as he is brilliant again. If we could rely on him he'd be an easy choice.

When our game with Walsall was postponed because of Walsall's call ups Millwall played that weekend so it's possible they don't have enough internationals.

Do Millwall have any who are likely to be called up by anyone ? Really hope this game is on ! Didn't they play at weekend. If so then they presumably don't have enough internationals
