I know it was a couple of weeks ago now but I admit I was a little surprised to see Kavanagh on there as I thought he was highly rated but I guess this explains it...
Good luck to the lad.

Good luck to Rhys for the future. Hopefully he can find a decent non-league club and get back to enjoying his football as pain free as possible.

Very sad to see that, having to retire before his careers even really started. Even more so when someone’s got a lot of ability and potential, which by all accounts he did. Best of luck to the lad.

Sounds a very level headed young man, who’s had bad luck with injuries. I hope it goes well for him, with that maturity it should do. Good luck in the future. UTG!

Looks like scholar Luc Noble has left the club. Was highly rated at one stage, had captained the Wales youth side and got good reviews against Southampton in the FA Youth cup earlier this season. Posted on Twitter thanking the club for the last 7 years and saying Looking forward to a new challenge and fresh start. This one still puzzles me slightly. Supposedly the highest-rated player our academy has produced since Scott Sinclair (or Matt Macey if you want) and he was allowed to leave. No club yet (though unsurprisingly rumoured by a friend who works at the club to be interesting Brentford and both Welsh clubs) so seems a slightly odd one. Edit: clarified the 'linked with X clubs' part as was misleading.

Apologies for how incredibly sh*t this will sound but someone I know at the club reckons he's been invited to a trial with Brentford's "B" team and unsurprisingly the two Welsh clubs are after a Welsh youth captain. Admittedly nothing concrete as far as links go sadly but I guess my point is that, assuming that's true, it comes as a surprise to me that he was just allowed to leave? Official website just said 'released', no mention of being offered professional terms etc. like Hoole, Tomlinson et al. Edited my original post as it was slightly misleading. Didn't mean to make it seem to Bristol Post has reported he'd moved to the Championship or anything haha!

Yes I was also surprised he was allowed to leave, but was told it was Hargreaves' decision to release him. Good luck to the lad wherever he ends up.

Maybe Luc Noble hasn't progressed to the level that was expected of him at this stage of his development? It happens all the time.
Remember Lamar Powell? Supposed to be one of the best youth players we'd ever had when he was 15/16. I have no idea what he's up to now.
I also watched a good interview with Virgil Van Dijk recently, where he said he was released by Willem II when he was 18, because he was constantly getting bullied off the ball, outmuscled, and beaten in the air. He signed for Groningen and then he had a freakish, sudden growth spurt when he was 21 and then he suddenly started bullying and outmuscling them and winning every single header. The rest is history.
It's Football.

Having captained the Welsh international u16 and u17s and also having turned down a £150,000 offer from Southampton in the past, it does seem surprising to now release a player who is still only 18-years-old.

Maybe, but some other examples of that is Marvin Brown and Tristan Plummer who were at the other lot. Marvin figured in every single England set up from Schoolboys, U16, 17's, etc and played with Jermaine Jenas and Jermaine Pennant in those sides, and Tristan again was a key figure in the England U16 and 17 set up, an exceptional talent, one of the very best i've seen at that age, and was on the brink of signing for Arsenal. They were also released at a similar age as Luc Noble. Edit: Actually Marvin Brown was in his early 20's when he was released.
