We out with my gf yesterday so couldn't watch, but nice to see that we got another win, this time against a quality L2 side. I do think that whilst preseason is mainly about fitness and experimentation, building a winning mentality can surely only be a good thing. Particularly as Garner struggled for wins after he came in. Fingers crossed it bodes well for the season, but as we know from history, pre season results often mean jacksh**. More than anything, the development of a new pattern of play is what stands out to me so far. Lot's more controlled passing. Development of a fluid 3-4-3 formation, with everyone in the back 3 comfortable on the ball.

Agreed - it’s nice to see a clear identity being worked on & steadily progressing. Lots more work to do for sure; for example it’d be nice to see the centre backs passing into midfield more rather than going long to Jonno as often as they did yesterday (Harries in particular). But still four more weeks on the training ground to iron these things out before the season starts and I’m excited to see JML & Nicholson playing off of a fully fit JCH.

Depends who you ask. Some on here would say he’s fat, unfit and sh**e. Gangly and skinny Harry Pell like, one poster said he was okay, I was decorating so unable to view, just wondered if he was any good? I thought he looked decent, played as a deep laying playmaker and got things moving well.

What bigger club is going to sign him though, none of the present L1 clubs seems to have any money and I can't honestly see he's looked Championship quality since his last injury? Agree but if he comes cheap, then ....? He did look a bit off at the back end of the last few games but if you don't get the service ..... Hate to say it but a club not a few miles away may think twice especially if JCH starts off good? I doubt that he would go there though! He's hardly going to be "cheap" Rovers will want £750K(?) minimum this summer and his agent will be looking for a 2 or 3 year contract at £5K+ p.w. so well over a £1m. If he does start off good the worries about his pre-season fitness will be irrelevant anyway plus we'll hopefully pick up a decent fee rather than giving him away.

If a new contract is not signed before the end of January then he is free to sign a pre contract from the 1st of Feb with a new club for the following July.

Is that the new Rovers policy "get rid" of any player who picks up a minor tweak in pre-season? I assume Johan will be transfer listed on Monday given that he didn't even make the bench today? Hes injury prone overweight and looking to leave Let him go No point in keeping somebody who's lost their passion for the club His family also live in Rotherham. as for passion for the club, its all bollox they will go where they get the best money and conditions

Exeter City boss Matt Taylor said that he was left ‘pretty pleased’ with what his squad got out of the 2-1 pre-season friendly defeat at Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
The Grecians conceded goals in the second minute of each half against their League One opponents who were ‘three weeks ahead’ of City in their pre-season, before Tom Parkes’ consolation goal from a corner.
Taylor used 22 players during the 90 minute match, with some youngsters getting more minutes in their legs after the game when the two clubs played a 30 minute practice match refereed by Gas first-team coach Kevin Maher played immediately after.

As far as his new contract, if he's not signed it by Sept the club will have to decide whether to sell him before the transfer window closes this summer, risk getting a lot less in January or getting nothing if he runs his contract down to next summer. Although if he has a poor injury prone season he might not have a queue of clubs next summer looking to offer him more than Rovers are prepared to offer now anyway.

Utterly inexcusable coming back in the state he's in. Smacks of arrogance to me. I'd take the contract off the table personally One times write off , there you go mate 👍

If anyone would like to read Sam Frosts report on Bristol live he also mentions JCH and his injuries last season. Terrible injuries, horrific. Lol. But still only 5 Rovers players played more games than him and remarkable that the injury plagued player still finished joint 4th highest League One goalscorer. Truely remarkable.

It could be argued that we've got the best keeper, centre back (Ehmer) and striker in the league. Always going to be difficult for the centre mids this season if we play 3 at the back. I think if we can get a good left back then I think we'd be very strong this season.
