Competitive games under BG. Our Shots On Target figures are on the left. Wimbledon (H) 4 SOT vs 5 Fleetwood (A) 1 SOT vs 9 MK Dons (A) 1 SOT vs 9 Coventry (H) 3 SOT vs 6 Doncaster (H) 1 SOT vs 4 Coventry (A) 2 SOT vs 6 Rotherham (A) 2 SOT vs 4 Fleetwood (H) 2 SOT vs 4 Bolton (A) 5 SOT vs 6 Coventry (H) 7 SOT vs 4 Wycombe (A) 5 SOT vs 6 Tranmere (A) 3 SOT vs 2 Blackpool (H) 4 SOT vs 6 Sunderland (A) 1 SOT vs 6 Shrewsbury (H) 1 SOT vs 5 Southend (A) 3 SOT vs 4 Sunderland (H) 3 SOT vs 2 Ipswich (A) 1 SOT vs 10 Sunderland (A) 2 SOT vs 8 Ipswich (H) 2 SOT vs 6 2.65 Shots on Target vs 5.6 Shots On Target Against Us. Based on last season's league table, we would be BOTTOM on BOTH stat counts. This is a deeply worrying and alarming stat for me. www.footcharts.co.uk/index.cfm?task=basics_shotsontargetEven worse so far this season with 1.66 Vs 8. Admittedly a very small sample size.

Combine those stats with the 0.52 average points per game under Garner and we’re heading straight for relegation, most likely bottom of the league too.

What do you expect when he bought in all the defenders in the Summer, he is not up for the job may be a great coach but not a manager

Appalling.
When you consider that our new number 9 isn’t a prolific or clinical goalscorer you really start to worry. I cannot for the life of me see where the goals are going to come from.

But... But... Expansive football! Garnerball!
In fairness, all those games can be written off as friendlies.
10 games starting now
Long live Garnerball!

When the 2 touch from kick off is given to a centre half and he leathers it as long as possible without any pressure You know garnerball is dead. Its now back to what works best in league 1.
Have we the players to play that way

Do you have our possession stats?
I'm pretty certain we've had less than 50% in every match.

No, I've come to realise possession can be a very misleading stat, it is a good indicator of how the team plays but rnot necessarily a successful team. You Re probably right though as we do seem on the back foot nearly every game. Which makes you wonder what style we are actually trying to play. Shots on Target for and against is an interesting stay as it tends to match up fairly close to league position. The one positive we do have is that I believe we have a keeper who would get into any team at this level.

Looking at yesterday the stats in our game and Oxford v Sunderland, possession wise they were very similar, around 45/55% with Oxford only managing 1 shot on target. I always sensed having no crowds would favour the likes of Ipswich & Sunderland as they are clearly better players and now have no pressure to perform in front of their fans, every game must be like a training session for them. Our season really starts v Northampton let them dominate possession and lose that one weakly and we are in difficulties.

The Blackpool game from last season is a concern. Blackpool got their captain sent off in the 1st half and yet still managed to cut us open several times early in the 2nd half. Kilgour scored a worldy and JML scored a deflection before Blackpool missed a one-on-one towards the end. Garner's first win and a lucky 3 points.

GC got lucky v Fleetwood and Sincs inspired us to a win over Gateshead (what happened to them?) under DC, perhaps we'll beat Donny or Northampton with another lucky goal to get this season under way.

2nd from bottom for SOT so far (Wigan are bottom). However Wigan have faced 2 shots less than us, so about level overall.

What's the definition of a 'Worrying shot on target'? (as apposed to a non worrying shot on target?)
