As sad as it is, why are we having a minute silence for Maradona 🤔 Minutes silence for the Chairman’s dog passing next. So sad, we do get very attached to them, they’re part of the family. if there’s anything I can do for the Chairman just sing out. Fetch his slippers perhaps ?

I am miffed with the negativity after a 6-0 win.
Thinking we held our own for the first period against Peterborough only a few short weeks ago was ridiculed because we lost, so what was the point. But when we're the team with the comfortable win we should be focusing on the 30 minutes where Darlo held their own?
Of course goals from penalties and Daly capitalising of defence errors (which has happened often enough already for it not to be a fluke) don't count for us but are evidence for relegation against us.
It's the cup. The whole point is a bit of escapism from the league. Why not just enjoy winning 6-0 regardless of opposition? I had a smile on my face Sunday evening.

For gods sake this forum is a joke
We won 6-0 Peterborough & Hull did not progress
I swear I don't get it.

It would be great if I could. Looking forward to the day when that's possible again. Celebrating on my own with nice bottle of red. Not every day you get a 80/1 winner What are you going to do with the 8 quid ?

Non League teams normally pile high in defence, sit back and hit the League teams on the break. That is how an ageing ex football league defence can hold its own against a younger attack full of energy. Darlington played 3 front runners and tried to take the game to us. They paid the price.

Well you can't be anything but positive after that can you? I think we have to be honest though and as many others have said it was a result we have struggled to achieve in recent years and as Paul Tisdale said it was hard to see it coming after the first 30 mins. The first goal came out of the blue(with help from a bit of green!) following a period when Darlo were beginning to grow in confidence, it prompted a spirited response which nearly produced an equalizer before at last we saw a well created and superbly taken second at which point Darlo's confidence visibly dropped and ours rose. The penalty was a stupid challenge and from that point on we were able to showcase the talent in midfield which till now has flattered to deceive. Despite the score line Darlo continued to create chances and got behind our defence on a regular basis which will be of some concern for the coaches i imagine ,so all in all the result reflected the relative pyramid status of the teams and after recent seasons i think we are all relieved at that but as the manager refreshingly acknowledged there is work to be done ,and each passing game he learns more and more about the players at his disposal, and by Jan will know what is required, whilst meanwhile hoping we can pick up enough points to climb the table, look forward to the draw now and hope for a positive result v Gills, up the Rovers!

I guess? I didn't see Wigan but compared to Swindon, definitely. But that isn't hard. I think that was what brought us the win really, we looked solid but not spectacular and we seemed to do the basic things right. Just wondering what assessment you can make of the players. It seems odd to win 6-0 without sounding like we played well as a team considering it was against non-league opposition. Let’s hope it starts to come together on Wednesday then. I thought we did play well as a team. It started to come together in some aspects at Wigan (just no attackers) and the midfield provided the chances yesterday, taken by our strikers. Looking forward to Wednesday. UTG!

To be fair to Westbrook, we went down to 10 men not long after he came on and there weren’t many forward options. McCormick looks like the better player. But we were better than Darlo in every position. Hope Daly is ok. Great to be in the 3rd round. Westbrook seemed to be the central player under BG. His role may be diminished now under the new manager. Watching Westbrook can be frustrating because he has shown glimpses of the talent he possesses but has not really produced it to date? Watched Chelsea and Spurs and could not help watching Mason Mount and comparing him to Westbrook. Every time I see Westbrook he minds me of Mount. Mount has the freedom in the Chelsea squad to run with the ball if he desires and he looked good yesterday. I think this is what Westbrook should do more, ie run more at the opposition and shoot more. Confidence will then come through. Up The Middle. UTG

Yaz, have you watched the same game as me or do you have s..t for brains. If you understood English, it is obvious that I am referring to the team's performance over the season! Yesterday's game stood out after the first goal went in. We played good, controlled football with very few mistakes anywhere. The best football we have played all season? Even the Darlo manager said that every mistake they made got punished. PS If people make comments on this forum, one should respect their opinion, no matter how wrong you think it is unless they are being abusive. So cut the crap out!

I don't think we played brilliantly against a National League North side. The first third of the match was pretty poor, Daly was his ever heard working and opportunistic self and settled us down. We then had a decent 15 minute spell where every time we went forward we looked like scoring. Hare's goal was nicely worked, as was Oztumer's. Both penalties were solely down to Daly being Daly and Nicholson's goal was a poorly defended set piece that was bundled home. All our goals were in a thirty minute period either side of half time. The last half hour was largely pedestrian due to our position in the game. We gave up some chances with Anssi making a cracking save and then had a nice ten minute work out with ten men. I'm not going to be doing flips about comfortably beating a side 62 places behind us, to put that in perspective that's like Chelsea putting 6 past us. Like I said, it was ok and just ok. Job done, onto the next round and hopefully a confidence booster going forward.

It’s hard to say how well we really played because they were a very poor side but the most important thing is that firstly we won so we’re in the next round and secondly that we scored loads of goals which is obviously something we’ve struggled to do all season.

Don’t worry Gillingham will be bricking it after that, and Brandon is going to rip them a new one!

Yeah it's a fair point. Put it this way, only the 2nd and 3rd goal really stood out to me as nice play, although poor defending. The 2 penalties were definitely penalties but completely random, stupid and in no way goal scoring opportunities. The first goal was also a complete fluke, but excellent work from Daly. Thats not to take anything away from the lads, we did what was needed, but it wasn't attractive to watch - maybe that summarises it better?
