Well I just heard JB interview, and he seemed to be bumming up Kilgore ; Hanlon and Harries; hopefully he was just doing that for their confidence; Of course he was he’s not going to take charge of a team hovering in the drop zone and after one game slag the centre backs in public , look where that got Tisdale when he uttered truths about the strikers everyone from here to Mombasa knows what the problem is and knows what needs to be done to fix it the million dollar question is , are the players good enough to fix and fight it out

Feeling thoroughly depressed right now. That really feels like we’re destined for relegation now. Can anyone remember a defence as poor as this? Our defence was actually decent when we went out of the league, our downfall that year was having Chris Beardsley and an unfit Matt Harold up front. This year we are appalling at the back as well as useless going forward. My feelings exactly like so many others. This game has brought it out so clearly for us all. Here is what I posted elsewhere earlier: Our defence just seems to desert the front post, especially at set pieces. We conceded 2 poor goals today from set pieces. And our set pieces were generally woeful. Same story in previous games. The goal against Charlton that was allowed to bounce along the line from a corner and went in directly!!! This defence does not know how to mark the front post let alone the opposition. If they were soldiers they would be shot for desertion? But hang on a mo, as regards shooting ..... They had 2 shots on target, 2 goals! We had approximately 20 shots! We are terrible in BOTH boxes. The proportion of shots we get on target is so low and the number of chances we miss is incredible. A L2 team would do much better in attack and in defence. That leaves the midfield? Oh and the managers? 3rd one now. Who recruited this squad pre season? The amount of money we have spent so far on players and management must be shocking for what we have got to date? With the way we are going and the luck we have, we look doomed?! The euphoria pre season but The Gas is going down in smoke? So so sad to see. A lot of die hard fans must be feeling so down today. This particular result is hard to take because of what it portends for the rest of the season for us. Watched every single game this season so far but probably not worth the effort of watching any away games any more? But of course we will! Just glad that I am not going to these matches this season! UTG

i've just found a genie in abottle and he's granted me three wishes what should i wish for! Be careful, be very careful! Goal? Win? Some weetabix? Start the season again? Wake up from this nightmare? Don’t wake up at all? Look on the bright side; you are not watching these games live! One positive side of COVID? Let us know how your wishes go?

Impressed with JB post match interview , he knows exactly what needs doing , question is will he be given the support to do it ? Utg Bloody hope so, in comparison to Garner and Tis, it was clear what the plan was, but unfortunately he is stuck with players unable to execute it. I hope he can keep us up, but if the worse was to happen, Wael needs to stick with him, let him get rid of the poor player and bring in better.

None of our strikers are successful performing as lone hunters, our previous managers didn't really get that. I hope Joey doesn't take too long that we need two on the field hunting as a pair. Tend to agree, don't think either Hanlan or Ayunga are good enough to play up front alone.

Well here we are having the 'can't sleep' coffee wondering how the dickens we managed to lose a game we looked in control of ,albeit without looking particularly threatening. I don't know who picked the starting 11 , certainly surprised at line up as i could not see where the goal was going to come from. Any way we would all have picked a diff 11 no doubt and we started ok and i was quite optimistic after 10 mins, on the front foot and ok at the back. As the game went on though the chances were not coming and though we looked ok at the back you always sensed a 'mistake' was never far away and once or twice individual errors nearly cost us. As it happened the first goal was more a collective lack of concentration as every one switched off . Got back into it with a well worked and well finished equaliser and for a few minutes looked like we could go on and win it but we lack that cutting edge to grab the chance with our only player who can produce something from nothing sadly out of sorts, not sure if the reported injury is hampering Sam but he is way off at the moment and i was surprised he was not taken off earlier. Any way looked like our chance had come and gone then we proceed to concede again ( we seem to concede a lot of late goals?) Silly free kick to give away, sure young Jonah will learn his lesson , Ball into near post and we all know what that means! Really disappointing to lose to a to another poor team but i think what last night highlighted more than anything was a lack of leadership on the field , there is no one barking out orders or geeing players up and IMHO letting Tony Craig leave was a huge mistake which has had catastrophic consequences , Max not having the influence we all thought he would. All is not lost though JB has brought some good people with him and they will have seen for themselves what they need to do and i remain confident that the new regime will turn things round and we will survive ,up the Rovers!

Mr Barton will sort this out. You all told us this three days ago. Happy now? If you've destroyed your season ticket then presumably you won't be interested in reading about Joey B's progress on the forum either. Ha ha, I don’t believe it! One foot in the grave already 😁.

They can ban me if they like - we're all Gasheads, and we're all hacked off, we don't need tossers like that making it worse. To be fair Tilly those that didn't want Barton as manager were getting a lot of abuse earlier in the week/end of last week and may see it as some sort of vindication to their view. I am fuming and disgusted that Barton was given the job but the Gas are my team, I will still watch every game and support the team. I actually think Barton will eventually do a good job. I don't think anyone could keep us up but I do think he will bring us back after assembling his own team in the summer. I also think we have some very good technically gifted players, we just lack where it matters I'm always interested to read opposing opinions, and I agree that nobody should be receiving abuse, if they are airing them in a reasonable manner. However, posting like a demented parrot on the matchday thread, when we'd just gone down to such a late goal is inexcusable in my eyes. JB's certainly got a job on his hands, with games coming thick and fast, so not a great deal of time on the training ground in between. Onwards and upwards on Saturday - let's get behind them.

Ayunga you idiot. Cost us. Nothing to do with sh** defending then? Would never have got to that if he hadn't have given the free kick away. 94th minute, inside our half, going nowhere, needless foul, school boy stuff.

I agree wholeheartedly. Every man & his dog knows our Achilles heel is set pieces. In the final seconds and on our throw, at worst the Wigan lad would’ve headed it into the air or back to the thrower, game over & that’s a point each. To push the man in the back and give them that opportunity to lump the ball in the box was idiocy beyond belief.

Not sure any player on the pitch thinks to himself "I'd better not commit a foul in my own half as our defence is useless"? Even if we think it post match.

It's time for the mods to take a stance and if he does it again on Saturday then ban him for good before things get out of hand. garner may have hacked into his account

Well put. I’m not sure if they’ve got it in them to be honest but if they have then JB has an immense task on his hands on getting them to do it. If he keeps this squad in league 1 then he’ll be a Gas legend in my eyes. I think the players have ability but it’s as if when TW and Garner built this side ability is literally all they looked at. There’s no balance no fight no leadership it’s a tough task to instil that because it’s not really something you can teach in just a few weeks. If we go down this season then the players in this squad will have learned a hard lesson that will probably put them in good stead with more experience for future seasons in their careers but that’s not f**king helping us this season. The mistake was made over 13 months ago when a 38 year old wimp with no managerial experience was given licence to dismantle a strong squad of players with leadership and battling qualities and turn it in to a squad full of wimps. What really gets me is that so many of our fans or at least the ones on here thought it was a good idea. Happily though I think the appointment of Barton suggests that the Garnerball experiment is well and truly in the bin. Barton will build us a team of players who have guts and guile as well as ability. He wouldn’t be here if he couldn’t because that’s why he left Fleetwood. exactly If he can keep us from being relegated I dont care how he does it. Then at the end of the season get rid of all the wet lettuces and bring in players the fans can relate to. This squad has no affinity to the quarters and one saving grace is I haven't had to watch them in the face.

Seems to me, it is turning up for matches.

A team in our league position that keeps conceding silly goals at one end and struggles to create anything at the other end is going to end up relegated. I think JB is a good manager but I’m not convinced he can perform the miracle we need. Depressing night made worse by another forum member (I almost said fan but that would be wrong) who seems to be revelling in tonight’s result. I’m not sure whether to turn to god or drink. I always find a quick Hail Mary or two helps, and of course an invocation of St Jude (patron Saint of lost causes for the uninitiated) to intercede on our behalf.

Will you please stop banging on about playing Grant at centre back. The bloke continually gets caught out of position and will be worse at centre back Grant was excellent tonight Define "excellent" 4 touches in the 1st half, one of those he knew nothing about, when the ball hit him.
