Joey has said we received a phone call at nine o’clock Friday morning from Burnley recalling Thomas. He was then sent straight out to Barnsley and no doubt that had been pre arranged, hence why he was on their bench at Charlton. We had already done our training based on Accrington and left on the coach Friday afternoon. As regards not being announced by us until two o’clock Saturday, that was probably due to not letting Accrington having prior notice of our team.

Let's get Connor Taylor back. An unused sub again yesterday.
Taylor at back, Collins in attack.

How will anybody on here know what Stoke would accept and how much we can afford to pay? Although given how poor McCormick's been on his return then perhaps looking elsewhere is a better option.

I wasn’t asking people in here what Stoke would accept, lol. 😂 Strange interpretation of my post. I’m saying they don’t want to loan him out, so if we wanted him the club would need to see if they can offer enough to buy him if we want him back. The fee is always a combination of how much he means to his current club and how much the interested party will pay, which unless made public, nobody knows apart from the decision makers. Hopefully that’s a tad clearer for a pretty simple statement that is actually about a scenario that’s massively unlikely to happen anyway! 🤣

It’s an odd one as I really liked Thomas as a player. Beefy is a good player and I really rate Gibson but collectively they have been a car crash so whilst the timing was terrible, I am pleased a change is a coming!!!

Hard to get my head around the fact that he travelled up with us to Accrington Friday & the next day he’s sat on the bench for Barnsley at Charlton, must have known for a while about the move. Thought he had a poor game against Plymouth ( along with many others ) so perhaps his mind was somewhere else.

Overall I didn’t rate him If i’m honest, also seemed to have a bit of an attitude problem , there were a couple of occasions throughout this season where he’d make an error , got spoken to by a teammate, then had this sort of smug look on his face. My opinion only but I don’t think he was 100% committed.

For the record, when fit I think Gibson is by far the best out of all of them but "when fit" being crucial.

Perhaps Barnsley came in with a late bid after they heard that Thomas might be on his way this month?

Connolly without Taylor as turned into Kilgour without Craig. JB's summer recruitment in defence is almost as bad as Garner's was in attack, Hoole, Thomas, Gibson, Connolly and Gordon were never going to have the experience at this level.

Gibson is better than anything in GC's team IMHO. His only problem is he seems injury prone, other than that looks a class act capable of playing higher.

No chance he’d be here if not for the injuries. Not sure what Topper is seeing!

Will Wael be releasing funds or are we just looking as free transfers and loans?

Barton on Thomas:
"Not only that, I’ll level with you, we’ve had enough of him as well. He is a young player and he came in and did well, but virtually a goal a game and he was causing a lot of issues"
"Bob goes with our thanks for the loan. Could they have done it differently? Yeah, absolutely, but it fits with the characters"
Thomas seems like a bad egg from that and probably just as well he is gone. Just a shame it clearly disrupted our plans for the game.
