VAR should not be used at all in the League and FA cups for the obvious reason that no one has it but the Premier league.

I'm glad we don't have Var. Clubs will be afraid to celebrate a goal soon! Offsides under VAR are ridiculous. The offside law was brought in to stop goal hanging and attackers gaining an unfair advantage. How can the length of a toenail determine whether you’ve gained an advantage? May have been one of the FA Cups greatest ever moments when the competition is possibly at its lowest ever point. I've always said that if the whole of the ball has to cross the whole of the line to be a goal, corner, throw etc, then how can an arm that's used to sprint power forward that's forward of the last man but the rest of the body that's level or behind the last man be be offside? It makes no sense. Especially as with VAR we're drawing straight(ish) lines to determine the offside which may or not be as level as we think because of camera angle. Offside should always be if the whole man is offside not just his nose, finger or any other part of his anatomy that may protrude more slightly than the rest of him. What's even more ridiculous is that we're having 5 minute discussions on offside but completely ignoring other aspects like diving and faking injuries or play acting.

We're the old ways better?
Offside was you had to have the player goal side if you. The powers that be changed it to level was onside. Next it will be the whole of the attacker has to be ahead of the defender to be off.
Handball use to be for a deliberate hand to ball movement. Now it is getting harder to understand what is handball. Yesterday no pen against Man C then today one given.

If the margins are tight what happened to giving the attacker the benefit of any doubt? Since VAR and lines being drawn there’s even more reason to adjust the rule - having clear daylight between the attacker and last defender would at least justify someone being deemed to be gaining an unfair advantage. People still talk about Keith Houchen 35 years later - Victor Torp would have similar legendary status if it weren’t for the ridiculous current interpretation of offside 😡

The attacker should have to be beyond the last defender to be considered to be gaining an unfair advantage. As for handball the twerps at IFAB and PGMOL are just over complicating things and making the game a laughing stock. Old interpretations and guidelines with video assistance should be able to work better?

Old interpretations and guidelines with video assistance should be able to work better? Forgot all the other new elements to offside, like interfering with play. Plus is the player in the eyeline of the keeper. Think it was Bill Shankly who said if a player is not interfering with play then why is he on the pitch. Martin said he appears offside a lot because when the ball is played to another player he can get in the box quicker.

The reality is it can be manipulated as Forest are now claiming The main adjudicator inevitably is going to be a football supporter and is fair they oversee a decision that might directly affect their club. Could this situation be involved in betting scandals ?
Discussed at length in MOTD2 Sunday night
