Give Me Sport journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Everton and Luton had been 'tracking' Anderson this summer with both clubs keen for a deal - the latter have now announced the signing of former Toffee Ross Barkley, who fulfils a similar role.

He is at Newcastle at the wrong time. A couple of years ago he may have had a chance at regular first team football but it’s going to be very difficult for him now.
I’d be asking for a loan move before the window closes if I were him. You’ll be able to count the number of Premier League starts he’ll get before the next window on one hand. He might as well go and tear up the Championship instead.

Well he's about 4th choice in his position at Newcastle now. He probably thinks Eddie Howe has ruined his chance of getting in the England set up, so see's this as the chance to get some International recognition. Declan Rice and Jack Grealish played for Ireland and have also gone on to play for England at senior level, hopefully Elliot can do the same. I'd be asking to leave Newcastle if I was him though. |

Perhaps he’s just desperate to be able to start a match! Must be frustrating, the highlights we saw on here of him preseason looked fantastic but I suppose there must be a win now ethos at Newcastle that doesn’t really have space for players to develop. Also maybe his grandma was really special to him?

If Scotland really want to tie him down they will give him some minutes against Cyprus. If he is not involved in that match it doesn't matter about the England game as that's a friendly so he can still switch countries after. Although I think there is still a work around to change countries even after you play a competitive game?
As for his minutes as Newcastle, their desire to push on after champions league qualification has led to him falling down the pecking order. Although once the games start to come quick and fast I am sure he will get some more minutes as their squad still isn't as big as the other champions league teams from the premier league. The alternative will be to go out on loan and I am sure there would be a host of premier league clubs (all those newly promoted for example) that would happily take him.
