OK, JM is a pain but he hardly batters defenders like JCH, or even Coburn/Harrison, we lack a natural CF in the squad but have loads of No 10's. I can't understand why JB didn't bring back up in for JCH, as it's unlikely he would have played every game even if he'd signed. Whilst he's not brilliant, I thought we looked better earlier in the season with JM up front. He is the only number nine we have right now and I would get him back in the starting line up.

Coburn and Harrison battering defenders? That's not what I remember. Coburn (a player I did enjoy watching going forward at times) fell over too much. Both Coburn and Harrison suffered from the same issue, just too nice. JCH and Marquis jump with the elbows proud and will literally take out a defender.

Home form is dire, give it until xmas if results don't improve we need to move Joe out.
I've been behind him all the way, but he has had great backing and needs to step up now.

Points I think need consideration 1. A lot of new players, needs bedding in 2. Possibly/probably the best squad Barton has had here, ability, cover, balance of experience and youth 3. Best training facilities this club has probably ever had On the pitch, I don't think we go forward quick enough and on too many occasions, not always, the opposition have had time to get in position and be set. Yesterday's possession stats only tell half the story, a lot of possession was recycling the ball back and across the back line to switch sides, probing and trying to find a way through a Lincoln side with a flat 5 across the back and a solid midfield blocking all routes through. Phil Bater used to say you have to get the opposition on the turn ie trying to defend while also trying to get back and still trying to get in position. To an extent, we gave Lincoln too much time to to get into the set position and from there it was training ground routine, ie keeping the opposition out and soaking it in your final third. If that sounds familiar, look at the home game v Wycombe, similar problem. This needs to change because if the visiting team get in front, it's a frustrating up hill battle. Away from home opposition are more likely to come forward and take the initiative, that opens them up for the counter. Maybe that's why we sometimes look better away? Also are we good enough to be following the coaching manual of Pep? It's a big trend, playing out from very deep at the back, risky possession across our own box, which until very recently was a footballing cardinal sin. Ultimately, taking on the changes we have and now having passed the deadline, we have what we have till January and now it's for the coaching staff to shape this squad and get performances and results. Agreed. We played over 600 passes on Saturday and had a high completion percentage but nearly 200 of those were passes made by crama and Wilson. I wasn’t there but I’d bet my bottom dollar they were mostly passes to each other. Those two made more passes than the entire Lincoln side. Crap.

It’s looking again like other than half season of luck (a formation he had no intention of playing and a Geordie he knew nothing about) joey may not actually be that great a manager. I know it will now be a Joey lovers vs hater thing but huge improvements needed between now and December to convince me he can get us out of this division (the right way). Are we even really playing entertaining football? Or living off a short lived past It does make me laugh when, whichever side you are on, people put success or not down to good luck and bad luck. You make your own luck and I don’t believe a team finishes where they do at the end of a season due to good or bad luck, they finish there because it’s where they deserved to finish over the course of a full season. I’m not a Joey lover or hater but if he’s in charge of the club then I will always want him to be successful. Am I 100% convinced he will take us to the Championship? Far from it but I certainly hope he does. But to put the success he has had down to pure luck, will you be saying the same thing if we have another good half a season this year and end up in the Championship?

We have no striker that right now looks like they are going to be scoring 10-15 goals before xmas. We will be lucky to be top 12 come xmas. We have a very good team imo up until the player that wins you games. I am fully expecting more games like Saturdays. We will control the game but have limited chances in front of goal. I think us ballsing up bringing a striker in actually puts less pressure on JB.

Agreed with JCH in the building I would have expected top 6, if we get a decent free agent in, it might improve our chances, we need a settled team now, woods needs to be playing every match, looks different gravy.

Funnily enough people were saying this type of thing 24 months ago. Who knows where we'd be if the forum experts had their way? Lg2 still or Championship, who knows.

I really what him to succeed with this team too. But thinks he has been overrated by fans and is struggling to prove he deserves the backing at the moment. As I said. Let’s see in 10 games. I hope more that anyone we are flying.

Laughable, I remember this exact thread last year when the season started and the year before when we ended up getting promoted (as JB stated). Blokes has to rebuild the entire squad. We play some brilliant football. Only promoted a season ago. Many teams have been backed more than him.
Wish him all the success he can get with us he should be getting bigger jobs. Love seeing a former top player in lower league management shows how much he loves the game. Many big name players get better jobs than him without doing anything he’s working and learning from the ground up
Love the bloke

Why should he be getting bigger jobs, for the size of the club he's had a generous L1 budget for 3 seasons, the first we were relegated, the second we finished 17th and we are now 19th, he could well be heading back to L2 management if he left Rovers at the moment.

This year yes, but we're 6 games in ya sausage!

In the past I've known managers who knew they were on the way out as they were only allowed loan signings.

Aggressive, attacking, strong in every challenge. Those qualities that you don't need star players for.. The qualities we are lacking with good players. Those Cambridge players ran through walls and left it all out there. Fair play to them.

How was Scott Brown's relationship with the fans, directors, players? We're his post match interviews positive? What was his 23 game plan? What were his incentives, did he live near the training ground?

Still think it's a tad early to panic, league not really taken shape yet, Cambridge top after 3 games now slipped a bit, Vale lose opener 7-0 have not looked back since, Conversely Barnsley no great shakes since, Bolton on fire first few games but not maintained that level and so on, after giving it more thought i am convinced JB will get it right in time for a good season, after all we have had 4 decent results and a couple of bad ones .

You've been a JB fanboy from day 1 I doubt you've ever thought he won't turn it around? Something needs to change soon, just watching Cambridge last night shows you don't have to be the best to win games just show some urgency. Although they do have a decent No 9. If we are going to now continue til January without one JB's got to decide who is going to be our No 9 and his back up out of JM, AC & JB.
