We should have had a penalty for hand ball .. Burton should have had a penalty for Gibbons blatant hand ball. We also had a blatant handball in the build up to our goal. It’s swings and round abouts with this stuff

Post match Barton… 1. Cox was fouled for their goal … 2. A travesty if we had lost… 3. We should have had a penalty for hand ball .. 4. We deserved a win … 5. Called Steve Evans a weeble 🙊 6. Pleased with second half effort .. Not sure what game he watched … I think I only agree with point 5 . Cox was clattered and their player was involved could easily have been ruled out It would have been a travesty if either team had won There was a good shout for handball We deserved nothing nor did Stevenage Evans is not Slim Relieved we flooked a goal. S#!t game against a S#!t team we go again on Saturday UTG

Final third not good enough, free headers that were gilt edged missed.
Some passing awful, Vale looks promising, few players well off it.
Some of our players Brown and collins are not strong enough, need some more gym work.
Disappointed, wonder what John Eustace could do with these players....

Bloke is a disgrace, tactically outsmarted tonight by Evans, we were lucky to draw. I hope Evans hears this and says I like a burger and pie but I don’t hit my wife!

Thought we were pretty poor first half never really got going & everything seemed too slow. Haven't seen a replay of the goal, live it looked as though Cox had run straight into Taylor but would like to see it again. Much better 2nd half much quicker tempo and should really have been level with Cram's header not sure how he managed to miss. Thought we deserved our equaliser not convinced we did enough to win but certainly didn't deserve to lose. Still lots to improve on but most importantly imo we have to play with more tempo as we did for parts of the 2nd half, we look a much better side when we move the ball quicker

FWIW: -Stevenage came with a plan and using the long ball up caused us some problems. I thought we dealt with most of them but they got some good crosses into the box. -But although he played well it’s worrying that Taylor (was it Taylor?) collided with Cox for their goal after his slip against Oxford for their first goal. He’s good but he’s also cost us goals recently. He would still be my first pick in defence though. -Finley did some good things but he’s got much slower over the past year and his natural reaction is to foul so another yellow card tonight. He’s not going to be the first choice when all are available. Not good enough for a top table team. -Brown flatters to deceive and has some good touches but he never threatened the keeper. Although tbf no one threatened the keeper, I can’t remember him making a save from anyone. -Collins seemed to have lost his confidence. He pinged some good passes around but it’s all a bit meh… He seems to have lost his spark. - But it was a memorable goal from Martin. Well done and showed his quick mind and good touch. Well done.
Even after a great goal, everything seemed a bit stilted, even the celebrations. I’m just a bit surprised that JB must have known how Stevenage would play yet he seems unable to get the team to do something different. Why not Sinclair instead of Gibbons? Seemed a strange decision. It’s the first time I’ve watched and thought the players seemed lethargic, almost as if they know if they go behind they have no answers. I hope JB isnt losing them. It’s still all very close in the middle of League 1 with some winnable games coming up. JB needs some wins.
Saturday now becomes very important and it will be obvious how Northampton will set up. An early goal will be important, in a game against an opponent with something to prove I think.
UTG!

Did all the managers chatter about Luke Thomas suck the oxygen out of the room? That was a genuinely concerning performance, first time I’ve seen us look apathetic this season and yeah belief has been replaced with hope. Bloody hell it’s still only October and pffffft, fed up 😟

That really was awful from Rovers, but to be fair Stevenage were no better and had it not been for our own defender clattering our Goalkeeper we could have won which just shows the state of this division. We were poor, but Stevenage are experts at spoiling and making good sides look poor. Draw was not a great result for us , but a fair result on the night. I cant see how Evans was MOM on Player, Cox saved us tonight and was easily my MOM. In what possible way can Stevenage be called spoilers tonight? They played more football than we did, hoofed it less than we did, attacked more than we did even when already winning, and didn’t waste time with any gamesmanship nonsense (remember Steve Cottrell’s Shrewsbury last season?) As you say Cox was your MoM so they must have played with attacking intent. We were awful, Stevenage were not awful and nor were they spoilers. We got lucky. I’ll take that. I’m more concerned that the manager thinks we played well second half and deserved more!

An unfamiliar referee tonight.
Matthew Donohue mainly takes charge of Championship matches.
He ended up booking 10 players in total. 6 from us and 4 from Boro.
Yet we were awarded 22 fouls and we conceded 16. Makes no sense.
Early on he seemed to want the game to flow and let Boro players get away with a series of "clever fouls."
Several of our players were taken out off the ball after play had moved on in the first half.
He seemed to take more notice of this aspect of the game in the second half.
Boro took advantage of his relaxed approach. Wise old heads in their team played the referee.
We are still lacking in streetwise techniques at times. It's a bigger factor than it seems.
His interpretation of the handball rules was unusual. Chris Martin benefitted.
We'll probably see Matthew Donohue more frequently next season.

Maybe we see things differently, but the stats say that we had more possession, more shots and committed less fouls

Missed the game today as on holiday and was going to watch on I follow but my daughter has had a bad stomach bug and we’ve spent the last 24 hours in hospital. Sounds awful reading this other than our goal but a point v a team that plays a very effective league 1 style game isn’t bad I suppose and as long as we win on Saturday we’ll be up around mid table with 4 wins, a draw and 3 defeats from last 7 which wouldn’t be too bad considering the awful slow paced rubbish Barton has us playing the majority of the time. Imagine what we could do if we played a higher tempo game every week like we have done in spells this season. Big game Saturday , no doubt about it the pressure is on Barton and more and more will begin to turn on him if we don’t win what is seen as pretty much a must win game to keep us away from the bottom 4 for now. Back to clearing out buckets of sick and trying to get my daughter fit for a flight home tomorrow ( we’ll be lucky) puts things in to perspective, it’s only football. UTG

How many people think Cox was fouled for the Stevenage goal? I didn’t think he was from the stand personally, and after watching the highlights I still don’t think he was. Off the top of my head that’s the second time it’s happened to Cox now.. he makes a good save from time to time but I can’t help but see a little boy when I look at him
