I think it is. It just needs the right manager, to get them playing together with the right game plan. Grant Ward and Ryan Woods have played over 300 games between them at Championship level. Anthony Evans has creativity, and when he's at his best he's a quality player. Rossiter when fit(If he ever does get fit again) is as good as it gets at this level. He's only at this level because of injury record. When Lamare Bogarde signed again for the season most people were saying what a signing it was. Now all of a sudden the Central Midfield isn't good enough? The quality is definitely there. that area is more then fine. It's a striker, left back and a keeper we need.which two of those areas we identified and failed to land. Jch up top and Connor Ripley in goal. Signing someone like Ripley would be Alien to us.

Said it before say it again stinks of Tisdale MK 2 All this talk of a big overhaul in January . There are only scraps to be had in the Jan window so lower your expectations and expect a slide down the table. Am I the only one not inspired by Taylor at all ? Too early to be inspired or uninspired surely.

Watched the game back with a calmer head. Over run in midfield, we need to strengthen. Missing a number 9 type, again been a problem for a while. Grant, unfit and never a full back. Collins is just way off his game possibly time to be given a spell out, missed some really easy chances again. Crama usual mistakes, not what we need. Positives, Thomas and Gibbons worked really well together both had good games. Taylor and Wilson, again worked well both were decent. For Saturday hopefully Friend, Hunt and Ward are fit. Assume Gibbons Red will count him out for Sat? Thought he looked ok until...... Thought cards in this competition only counted in this competition. Be interesting if a player moved up a level, would anyone remember the suspension if he moved back down again?

It's always been viewed as a ' standalone ' competition and red cards don't count in league games. It would mean the player must serve the ban and alert any clubs he plays for . I haven't heard this have changed but who knows?.

A lot of people seem to be quite upset about going out of a cup nobody cares about 😂👍 It's amazing. Some of the conclusions are ridiculous but hardly surprising on this chat board. A game of 2 halves where we could/should have been 4 goals clear at HT. We lose to away to a plucky crawley and its the end of the world for our new manager and the squad already. It's the boycott trophy ffs. Yeah I mean having played alright and going in a goal up there’s no way he would have made those changes in a league match. It was a terrible second half but I’m not going to lose my sh/t over a crappy cup game. Hopefully we’ll play like we did in the first 45 but for 90 + on Saturday and get the 3 points. It’s been a while since we won a game, need the good feeling back.

Looking at the highlights having not watched or listened to the game it looks like Josh Grant let the Crawley players do what they want again, followed up by some disorganisation at the back.
Crama very hit or miss but that’s what you get with a player of his experience, good for back up but let’s stick with Taylor and Wilson wherever possible.
Gibbons is crap and a liability with his discipline.
So as suspected last night the usual suspects.
And to start off with we failed to score because Collins can’t find his scoring boots. (As suggested in the summer we should have ripped the arms off a 2mn bid and got some others in - but I suspect we kept him because nobody else wanted him at that price)
Let Grant and Gibbons go in Jan and bring some others in to replace them and sign someone who can actually score goals.
Sort this out we will be fine. Keep selecting Grant and we’re in trouble and not for the first time!

Was disappointed to lose, but in hindsight no one likes the competition, and will give Matt a good insight into some of our players.
I'm not going to throw them under a bus, but the usual suspects are clearly not good enough, and need moving on.
A few are so under performing its embarrassing.

Although we can send Crama and Bogarde back to their parent clubs. As things stand Trevor Clarke is probably the best fit LB at the club! Assuming Gordon is now out for a few weeks and Grant totally off form, with Vale better further up the pitch.

I'd keep Bogarde, send Crama back and only keep Cox if brentford are happy for him to be a joint no1 with Ward

We can't really switch to a back 3 and play with wing backs, because then Crama would have to start. Although he might do better in a 3.

After one game you draw that conclusion? That's laughable I half expected a “has he gone yet?” post!

I meant move on and replaced👍 just like when someone is made redundant from a company they’d be “let go” with a pay off 👍 Not sure Trev is available with being loaned out.

The team looked anxious in the first half but had plenty of chances. Second half Rovers looked mostly poor. Crawley deserved their win in the end.
Thomas,Gibbons,Taylor and Finley had the best games. They still made plenty of errors.
Some players were pretty poor.
Our players seemed to slip over a lot throughout the game.
Our strikers have zero self belief currently.

We can play Jed because he’s under the age limit. I wouldn’t have thought we could play Clarke unless like with Martin we kept some spaces back for him. Unlikely though I’d have thought.

Where did this lack of fitness stuff come from? I thought that was one of Joey's top priorities after his comments about training and lifestyle when he took over.
I don't see them as unfit. Demoralised and demotivated maybe, which has a similar effect on performance.
