I hope we don't get held to ransom with some of the alleged figures bandied about.
That said, if he was to fill the super sub role next season coming on when we were losing or drawing, I think he could well have the know how to earn us some vital points to make it overall value for money.
Also you would hope he could pass on some guidance to the younger strikers at the club.

All this talk of pacey strikers who press and the only guy doing what he is paid to do is 35 and barely moves A knowledgeable experienced striker can use that to get that extra yard or that bit of space

There is no debate re Martin. Without him we'd be in a relegation scrap no doubt at all. His goals have us mid table.
He is probably one of the best natural goalscorers we have seen at the mem in the last 20 years. I was watching him closely in the warm up and he just finishes everything. He is the only natural goalscorer we have at the club and he deserves 18 months on a decent enough wage.

Can’t see him being able to play much at all next season, Or at least nowhere near as consistently as he is atm. Hope I’m wrong though.

He didn’t have a preseason this year and said himself recently he’s only at 75% fitness, barring any injuries he will get a full preseason of training in before next season - being just a few months older won’t see his performances drop off a cliff (imo)

Chris Martin is the least of our worries, at least he is putting the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis and converting a high percentage of his chances. As for the rest of them, a total waste of space. From his interview tonight I think our manager agrees with me!

I could have told him Hoole's not a CB and lately he's not even been a L1 FB, he had a total shocker at Wycombe.

Like the sound of that?

If you listened carefully to MT the underlying message is that a lot of our players are soft ,we don't win the first contact and a lot need to be led,if we lack experienced heads on the pitch they just fold. That's why we concede easily and cannot convert ,we are soft in both boxes.

Nowt to do with pace, it’s just pretty clear that the body can’t keep doing what it thinks it can after you hit a certain age. Will be 36 this time next season. If we’re still clinging onto him to bail us out with his goals in the way we are atm, we will be having another average/poor season, I guess is my point. We almost don’t want him to be playing that much next season.

I think he can easily offer something for another season personally

116 minutes per goal is superb particularly as he doesn't get many chances to score.

Ok so we’re getting rid of Collins and Martin then. Makes total sense, let’s test Taylor in a relegation battle.
Anyone else? Who else creates/scores goals? Evans should go too?
What’s the saying, if you’re good enough you’re old enough? What about if you’re good enough you’re young enough? I wouldn’t care if Martin is 47, if he scores 15 goals a season give that man a contract!

Teddy Sheringham was scoring in the Prem until nearly 41.

I also can’t stand his play acting going down and then he gets straight back up, we’re happy to criticise players of other teams for doing this, yet clap it when he does it, all players should be booked for doing this.

It's not good enough. Hopefully we can release Collins and bring in someone like Nicholls and offload Martin for someone of Luke James quality.

It's soooooo annoying isn't it - I mean what exactly does he think a strikers meant to do? He needs to get with the programme. All this sticking the ball in the net. It's not how we do things 😡
