Noticed the Exeter Manager Gary Caldwell having a rant about Referees in particular the injury time at the end of the second half He has a rant about and with referees almost every game. It should have been longer than 5 minutes for sure but he likes to put the blame anywhere else apart from his tactics. We used to have a manager like him

From the Exeter forum; "Rovers were bitches when it came to going down and cheating - how the ref gave just minutes is beyond me....his should have been a home win to build our points up for a difficult period coming up" "Rovers are boring and play anti football with giants in defence. A goal that should never have stood, along side hitting the crossbar twice and a rovers goalkeeper who was MOTM." "Unlucky I thought, deserved a point. Taylor desperate to get a win and didn't care what it took" Lovely, cry some more you c .unts! I think that may have been the bloke I was sat next to. He liked the word ‘bitches’ using throughout the afternoon. Near the end when we were looking to manage the time down he turned to me and said ‘Bristol were cheating c****.’ I asked him if he was at the Mem 10 days ago and he said ‘what’s that got to do with it?’ I said Exeter did exactly the same thing and that every side when they are only leading by a goal will try and waste time. I felt I was reasonable and said it’s frustrating but we all do it. He just huffed and puffed. He didn’t like MT either….. In the end he left without a word. I said to his mate, with whom I’d been having sensible conversations throughout the game, I think I upset him and he just said he always walks out early and was always like it. The other fans I was talking to were perfectly friendly. UTG!

Only saw parts of the 2nd half today, but Jed Ward take a bow. Not sure if our standards have been lowered so much, or he’s truly an excellent keeper, but honestly, every time Exeter were 1:1 or through on goal, I just immediately assumed goal. I’d forgotten what it was like for our GK to actually pull off a save where you expect the striker to score. It’s so refreshing. Looking forward to seeing him develop in the 1st team Yes. Watching yesterday it was the first time I’ve seen JW live. Watching him I thought: … he commands his area well, not afraid to come out and claim a ball when they were pressing. Sometimes he was well outside the box … his handling was very good, I don’t think he mishandled at all (but I may have missed it but I don’t think so). … when the ball was crossed into a busy penalty box he either caught it or punched it clear. (Sometimes it went straight to an Exeter player because all out players were still in the box.) … the defenders were comfortable passing back to him and had confidence in what he was doing. … having seen the kicking of other keepers watching JW’s kicking was far better. He didn’t kick a ball out of play though some of his kicks went straight through to the Exeter keeper. His kicking was excellent and he often found the wingman. … his shot stopping was very good and his positioning equally good. … he dealt well with all the 1 on 1 situations and shots. Having seen the Exeter match at the Mem as well it’s a tad unfair to make direct comparisons esp with the different weather conditions but it looked as if his concentration yesterday didn’t dip at all and he was ready for whatever Exeter threw at him. Well done JW. He’s a young lad so there will be games where he makes an error which costs us a goal but overall it’s a great position to find ourselves in. UTG!

Like all keepers JW will need a strong enforcer for set plays. Matt Cox was often left unprotected as an opposition player played "BLOCK THE KEEPER."
Everton score from set plays so often because they employ ONE or even TWO players simply to impede/foul/block the opposition keeper at corners.
Needs to be a top priority in coaching the team for all set plays.

Was at the game and can't remember us going down much. Still, I suppose I wear blue tinted spectacles.

On the way back up the M5 my buddy and I were discussing JW, and he said the same about Cox - that opponents crowd him and impede home. That opponents have found him out and play on it.

She is less irritating when we are winning.

I listened to her commentary and thought she was very good . No screaming as some claim , obvious that she is a proper football fan with a good knowledge of the game.

You definitely weren't alone - when the final whistle went, a load of Gasheads started dancing and celebrating in the home end. Only one Exeter fan appeared to get a bit aggressive over it. The stewards defused things by opening up a gate so the Gas fans in the home end could walk out through the away stand

Great to see the goal on the local news down here especially after them beating us so recently.

In fact I have literally never heard her scream during a commentary. Perhaps you mean she increased the pitch and volume of her voice when a great goal was scored, as male commentators also do.

I listened to her commentary and thought she was very good . No screaming as some claim , obvious that she is a proper football fan with a good knowledge of the game. i have only listened to her once because i have managed to get to most of the matches but the problem listening to the Bolton away game on the radio was that she didnt describe where the action was taking place. For example she got excited when opponent pulled down Collins and when the guy was sent off but didnt describe the incident at all so we had no idea whether it was a free kick or a penalty. We had to wait a good 90 seconds for her to say that Evans was getting ready to take the free kick and even then had no idea how far out it was . It was as if it was a TV commentary where they rely on the visuals being available as opposed to the radio- where the commentator has to be far more descriptive. its a different skill
