It's not reasonable when it was the 10th highest budget but we only finished 17th. How much was wasted on the likes of Wilson, Hunt, Grant and Ward with Rossiter also out injured all season.

I guess the new co owners view is why try and finance a top 10 budget if we only then finish 17th, the danger is we'll now terribly utilise a lower budget and end up being relegated. I'm not sure when we last overachieved, possibly under GC but he seemed to be well backed in the January after he took over.

The indications were that they wouldn't go for promotion until the infrastructure was there to support it, I assume as a minimum that's the East Stand redeveloped and also the work done at The Quarters. Although not sure we could survive in the Championship with the North Stand out of use for a couple of seasons, as that's 4,000 less fans each home game. I ❤️ Div 1. We are higher than 87% of the football pyramid. Happy days. Yes, me as well. But it would be good to challenge for a season at least. 😉 UTG!

They have their own choice of manager now so should back him accordingly, otherwise they will set him up for failure

My big worry is that we are staying at The Mem. Why?
We aren’t wanted here. Planning for the South Stand reinforced that if it wasn’t clear enough from previous redevelopment attempts. We have managed to get some decent infrastructure permissions after big fights but the elephant in the room is that we can only really use the stadium on match days.
Every time we have tried to put on other events or get permission to open bars, put on conferences or similar events we seem to have failed. I can’t see this changing with the extent of local opposition now boosted even further by Green success in the local elections. I feel we are flogging a dying horse.
The Quarters are fit for purpose but decisions about adding the academy need to be made (quickly please). Pushing on with the playing side will always drag the rest along but is that sustainable? I felt we had a chance with GC but he didn’t get backing for the 2 players he wanted to ‘guarantee’ promotion. He apparently never had a written contract as manager either - I heard it from the horses mouth that he trusted Wael to stick by him but not ‘the rest of the ******** on the board’. That was at the Blue Diamond Lunch (still at The Mem then) that he was late getting to having been pleading for funding to buy the 2 he wanted. He wasn’t too scathing at the time but was clearly “down” as he had been told ‘we don’t want to be promoted yet, we’ll come straight back down’. Sound familiar?
For the first time in my 62 years of support I’m not hopeful.

To do that we would be looking at an outlay of £75m+ and we can't sell the Mem for development to offset some of that cost until the stadium build was completed. According to the new co-owners they can redevelope the Mem and The Quarters for £35m.

I didn't know that. Why can't we sell the land and ground share? Ground share with who? What happens if we sell the land and then can't complete the stadium build for some reason? Maybe Bath Rugby ?. They are going through a difficult planning process which like us will face opposition. They will be spending big money on a ground revamp for what ?. A 3000 increase from nearly 15k to 18k. In my view hardly worth it. A sensible approach would be to join forces and build a 25-30k stadium East of Bristol. But were too ?. What about planning ?. And more importantly who will buy the mem with all the hassle to build a small stand which most national leauge grounds have. Sadly it's a bit of a graveyard for both clubs. Stay put and you face major restrictions . Try to move and you face another layer of restrictions . Funny how Ashton gate got approved with hardly any opposition. Eg. Bath rugby project 80-100 million cost.

Ground share with who? What happens if we sell the land and then can't complete the stadium build for some reason? The dings? Should suffice the way that Rovers 'supporters' are turning their backs? It is true they are in the 3rd tier of English rugby with ex Premiership teams like Rotherham Mosley Rosslyn and Richmond along with championship teams like Esher and plymouth. But how long will it last ? And what sort of crowds will they get ?. Bath Rugby have up to 100 million to put into a new ground. And yes I will be supporting them for the big matches ( Dings ) !.

We are ground sharing - with the Gas Girls.
If organised well they could get regular attendances of a hundred plus.
Small in the scheme of things, but it has the potential for extra bar and catering revenue and possibly the shop will be open on Sundays?
The SC support the Gas Girls so I assume some volunteers may do a 50/50.
Very little acorns I know, but when you compare a few quid v virtually absolutely nothing going on at the Stadium on non match days, its got to be a minor step in the right direction.

It's great the the Gas Girls are going to play at The Mem. However, I would imagine that any profits on , merchandise, food and beverages would be eaten up by the cost of staffing, utilities etc.

Loads of examples of clubs doing that. The biggest 'X' factor is who wants to buy the Mem site after the Sainsburys debacle...

There is definately room for a 2nd Bristol Womens team and the potential for both teams to be playing at a higher level than the Men's teams. We should be aiming to get crowds of 500 to 2000 in the first season at the mem and then push on from there.

Given Sainsbury's eventually got full pp, I'd imagine getting pp for a residential development would be reasonably straightforward. The far bigger issue is identifying suitable land for a stadium,. getting pp for it and then financing it, even City with SL's billions gave up trying to do that.
