If it is between us and Charlton it's only going to go one way.

I just can't see how we'd be willing to drop £1m+ on a full back from Scotland with a supposedly limited and decreased budget and other positions to prioritise?

I have seen numerous postings on here saying players won’t sign for us because Bristol is an expensive place to live. Following that logic he is bound to sign for us because London is far more expensive to reside in than Bristol!

Reading the thread on their forum about it is quite funny, classic fan speculation. The price ranges from being happy with £250k, to a reported £90k release clause that triggered when they auto renewed his contract and then the reports that Charlton were bidding high end 6 figure fee. Somewhere between £90k-£1m range 😅

I'd be embarrassed to say I live in London.

If you saw our set up and stadium against Charlton's what would you do ?? Look beyond that and see how players like EA & Quansah have progressed their careers compared to Charlton's in recent seasons, plus also what contract is on offer from each club. Hopefully GF/ MT will suggest that top 6 is the aim as just saying improving on last season's league position hardly sounds attractive to an ambitious young player.

If you saw our set up and stadium against Charlton's what would you do ?? Surely the ground is only a small part of the decision making process. They spend most of their life at the training facilities and will have to find somewhere affordable to live. We , as a club have a fairly good recent history of helping players reach their potential etc..

Connolly, Hoole, Gordon and Macca have not improved. Might add Connor Taylor to that list.

Charlton's facilities are better and they have a good recent history of helping players reach their potential - Ezri Konsa, Joe Gomez, Ademola Lookman, Alfie Doughty, Karlan Grant and Mason Burstow, plus Miles Leaburn seems to be developing nicely there at the moment.

Evans was always a talent, but he’s added to his game year on year for us and become a more complete midfielder. That deserves credit.

Hoole's an U21 international and Ward is also an international player. You have to assume Edwards has shown some interest in joining Rovers or I doubt we'd have bothered making an offer, assuming that we have made one.

Josh Edwards will be considering a range of issues in choosing his next career move.
One factor in our favour is the message George Friend can deliver about the left back/left wing back position of The Gas in 2023/24.
With Lewis Gordon and Harvey Vale having left and George retiring himself there is a yawning gap in the BRFC team structure for 2024/25.
If Josh Edwards cares about gaining regular game time he is probably going to see us as a good choice. This would be beneficial for his long term career prospects.
If he were to move to Charlton Athletic there are players such as Thierry Small, who has been offered a new extended contract, standing in his way.
Of course, there are some other really key factors. Salary, length of contract, and agent's view are just a sample.

Maggot also went on to star for Welsh Rap group Goldie Lookin Chain and appeared on Celebrity Big Brother so another string to our bow.

Ypu'd also have to consider the stability of the club, Charlton have been insane with their manager appointments in the last few years. They even appointed Garner after we had him.
Nathan Jones on paper is a good appointment but it could end pretty bad for him if they dont start well.
