Trying to find out more information on tentative links to Britt Assombalonga. Have heard there have been enquiries to his agent, but not sure how reliable the source. Apparently on about £5k pw at previous club in Turkey. Not sure this would be the right move, doesn't seem to have had a great season in Turkey last year. Rather see us take a chance on a younger/non league up and coming player, any ideas?, or even a loan possibly. Assombolonga would be a massive waste of money imo

Assombolonga would be a massive waste of money imo from 2017 -2021 he was at Middlsbrough alongside George Friend so you would have to say that George must know him well and be confident whether he could offer us something that we don't presently have. He is 31 but Vardy is 37 and i bet every Gashead would love to see him join us.

I wouldn't be opposed to Devante Cole plus he would be available on a free

I wouldn't be opposed to Devante Cole plus he would be available on a free Eighteen goals for Barnsley last season , 16 the season before , a good return, depends whether he would want move so far south , although if you offer a player the right money I suppose he will go near enough anywhere.
I am surprised Barnsley released him ' perhaps they have financial issues.

That surprised me when Barnsley released him but he is realistic signing as well

Apparently on about £5k pw at previous club in Turkey. If he's still got the fitness he had at Forest and Boro, he'd be a great signing at league one level.

its interesting that the strikers were looking at seem to be smaller guys rather than big old fashioned centre forwards. This suggests defending well and hitting teams on the break like Leicester won the Premeirship with.

I can't see us getting the striker we need on a permanent unless we spend a lot of cash. Lincoln have paid £75k for Rob Street from Cheltenham. 1 in 10 record in League 1. We need a 15+ goal scorer at least and they cost a lot more! We let a 25+ goal a season striker slip through our fingers this time last year and I’m still waiting the name of the pacy, young, goalscoring No.9 we should have been signing instead from those who said JCH was past it. Over a full season Chris Martin would have scored 20+ goals, whilst he's clearly a year older this season he could well score a similar number, or even more if we play better football. What we need is some pace in the front line, I'm not really sure JCH was the player to bring the pace required. As far as alternatives what would it take to sign Coburn from 'boro as he seemed to fall out of favour towards the end of last season?

Pace is great but we also need them to be able to play football and score goals - James Daly and Gavin Reilly were probably quicker but were awful. JCH wasn’t going to win any races but would have guaranteed goals - I know what attribute I’d prefer. Totally agree on Coburn. Whether it’s realistic for him to come here full time I don’t know but I’d be enquiring. He’s given it a go at his home town club just like Connor Taylor did and maybe not working out - will he need to a step backwards to league one to progress his career?

Coburn was out injured for a long time with a back problem and only came back towards the end of the season

If we interested let's just hope it's based purely on footballing grounds and not because he was mates with GF at boro, assuming they were both at the club at the same time?

Haven't Notts County just lost macaulay langstaff or are about to. Be surprised if they let another striker go.

Fair point, but a healthy profit on the £90k they paid a few months ago could be tempting, and for the player a step up in levels and increase in wages (if we are able) could be enticing to him too.
