I know hes the proper definition of Marmite , but I wouldnt be against Warnock.
Obv due to his age blah blah blah , he would be looking at to the end of the season , putting us in a better place. Meanwhile that buys us enough time to scout a long term candidate.
He can only say no , or come up and be interviewed while seeing what would be at his disposal . Just a thought , but I would be very confident in him.
Currently at Torquay , in an advisory role.
Jesus Christ 🤣🤦♂️ Go on I’ll challenge you to put together a starting 11 from our squad to suit a team Warnock could identify with using his usual tactics. I’ll wait 🤣

YES!!!!
Because he’d try and perform how he normally does with a squad that couldn’t be more ill-equipped to do it!!

Out of interest , who would be your prefered permanent choice?

We’re committed to a squad of largely players of technical ability rather than physicality and so you have to select a manager to suit the squad because he has little or no chance of being able to put together a squad to suit the manager….. Ainsworth with this group would be a complete mismatch and a disaster. As MT has found out by trying to make it into a tough battling direct side. Whoever takes over (should it happen) has to be someone who leans towards tactical and technical attributes rather than physical. My bet is Dave Horseman would take over in the interim in an emergency and I’d actually not be against that at all. Well, if they have no planned successor then of course that will happen in the short term. But whilst I always say past achievement shouldn’t be a forecast of future success he didn’t really make any positive marks at FGR did he? It would be a very risky appointment, as are all appointments, although some carry more risk. I don’t think we have ever had a manager getting us promotion after success elsewhere. Bert T, Don M, Gerry F (had had a relegation and sacking at Exeter before us), Paul T, DC, were all first time managers in the EFL before us, and JB in his second post (he had a successful season with Fleetwood but no promotion). So a first time manager would not worry me at all. Although currently, there is no vacancy. UTG!

It’s so difficult because no manager out there hasn’t been sacked or experienced failure…but everyone will immediately point to that as their barometer for ability…but it’s just about being a good fit…
Three left field….
Brian Barry-Murphy - Highly regarded at Man City and will have good ideas on style of play and dealing with young players. Tainted by being relegated with Rochdale but they were punching well above their weight in L1.
Dave Horseman - Good record and highly thought of at Southampton who have one of the best academy set ups in the country. He was stitched up at FGR by Troy Deeney wanting the job and the club were in a n unstoppable slide after a terrible season in league 1 where they were ill prepared and out of their depth. He’s in place and knows the squad and probably has his own ideas on what’s going wrong.
Possible caretaker role if no one is lined up.
Ian Burchnall - a bit left field but was on an upward trajectory when he left Notts County and it was a terrible career move to go to FGR. A good fit for the current squad stylistically.
Couple with decent track records…
Neil Critchley - another ex academy coach who has made some poor career decisions since his first stint at Blackpool and may need a reboot.
Pete wild - highly rated and surprisingly out of work….
Long shots but….
Stephen Schumacher Ryan Lowe
As you say though there isn’t even a vacancy at moment so this is just chit chat!!

In time , if he hasn't secured something , who knows.

If Alan Curbishley is in the house tonight, could the club tap him up to take over from Taylor.

I’ve gone with Matt Taylor because I said when he was given the job that he should be given a chance to build his team and at least ten games with that squad. Well we’re 8 games in to that 10 so as far as I’m concerned he’s running out of time. Fingers crossed something clicks tonight because I hate this negativity around our club with so many managers getting sacked all of the time and us never progressing above being league 1 relegation candidates. Sacking Taylor won’t necessarily mean us staying up and the board will have another contract to pay off so hopefully we now pick up and improve on what’s been a pretty awful run of performances and results.

He should of been gone before we sent George Friend shopping . it was plain as day clear that he was not up to the task at the end of last season and shouldn't of been trusted with the purse strings He only knows defence tactics ( everyone behind the ball ) and to be quite frank they aren't very good either , he will struggle to get another job after he goes after tonight's defeat :-(

Warnock doesn't take manager jobs until after Christmas so the way MT is going, we'd be relegated by then

I'll not say too much because there is no vacancy and I honestly feel disrespectful doing so after only 8 games this season. I only hope the owners are decisive and as well prepared if this run extends for too long. Tough but essential perhaps. You make a decent case for David Horseman. I wasn’t aware of some of that although I should have known. But I do like Pete Wild, did a good job wherever he’s been esp at Barrow. I’ve mentioned him before. Good at working with underdogs and getting them to punch above their weight. 👍 UTG!

No posts on this thread since last night’s game. Very strange. I think a lot of fans were in shock for the 24 hours after the game. Coherent football...players all understanding what was required of them... a 3 goal lead going into the final 10 minutes. Got to admit, I woke up the next morning fearing it was all a dream. I had to get Alexa to confirm the result.

I’m sticking to my 10 games minimum and I think he’s bought himself some time with Tuesdays result. Our away form has been atrocious and we really need a performance and at least a point on Saturday.

No posts on this thread since last night’s game. Very strange. Probably fans enjoying a win for a change and putting aside manager discussions for 24 hours………or it could be that despite watching a year of absolute rubbish everyone has been turned by a single narrow home win v Charlton and now consider MT to be a messiah

I had to get Alexa to confirm the result. Let’s not be silly here….it really wasn’t coherent football!! The players didn’t have any more real understanding of what was required dof them other than to compete. It was two very poor sides who barely created a real chance between them and barely put together a constructive move between them. Despite that Charlton (who were by their own admission atrocious) still managed 60% possession, had more shots, more shots on target, had the same no of clear cut chances, played over 30% more passes (which I find staggering), gk made the same no of saves and they had almost double the amount of corners! Yes I know we scored more than they did but let’s not kid anyone on how it was some kind of seismic moment of football paradise. It was a win. With two worldy goals from nowhere.
