Just looked up the results for Gerry Francis’s first season in 87-88. We had 12 points from our first 10 games, one less point than we currently have from 10 games. Should Gerry have been sacked or allowed to build a winning team? It wasnt that long ago Exeter City fans were calling for Caldwells head. Now they love him and he signed a new contract last month!

I’ve seen every league game and we’ve only got thumped once and that was against Wigan. In some games we’ve shaded it and in others the opposition have and we’re a few points off the play offs and a few off the drop which is pretty much where I was expecting us to be this season. Perhaps I’m a glass half full type of person , perhaps you’re a glass half empty I don’t know but yes I am enjoying the season so far , I’ve seen better yes but I’ve seen so much worse also and I enjoy following the Rovers. I can’t say I’m enjoying the season so far, standing in the thatchers end and hearing the boos at full time isn’t really the atmosphere you want when watching the games, I’m very interested to see how they perform in our next game, I personally think with the calling out players is going to back fire, to me he’s lost the dressing room. We didn’t even play a bad side against Swindon and that was a disgrace of a performance. I didn’t bother with that in the end was thinking about watching it on sky but saw a film instead. The FA Cup , league Cup and league games are the only ones I’m interested in. You may be right about losing the dressing room I’ve no idea but the players have looked up for it in the games I’ve seen , sometimes they’ve played well and others they’ve not played well but we’re not a big fish in this league 1 pond so it’s to be expected. Taylor will either do well with us and get a better club off the back of it or do poorly and get sacked but this season so far we’ve done ok not great but ok. I said when he arrived he should get at least the summer transfer window and ten games and he’s had that and we’re 3 points off the play offs so no need to want him gone at this point in my opinion.

Taking negative to a new level this 😂 Yeah it is . We’re in league 1 we’ve got a new stand and we’re 3 points off the play offs after 10 games and people are talking like it’s the worst time in our history. Things might not all be rosy and there may well be problems behind the scenes but I’ve been supporting Rovers for 40 years and we’ve always been struggling financially or had owners who didn’t know what they’re doing or on the brink of relegation from the football league or at times a combination of all three. Some people need to get a fuc€ing life, we’re a mid / lower league 1 sized club with a league 2 stadium so either put up and get your billions of pounds out to fund us or shut up and get behind the team. Most of the uproar is hear say brought about by needing to know the ins and outs of a cats arse about everything that’s going on at the club but 99.99% don’t actually know anything and it’s pretty pathetic. Also the last time we were actually up around the top 6 in league 1 the majority on here moaned like fuc€ and wanted the manager out. Then when he left they all hated him for leaving. Well said Socrates. I have been avoiding this forum since Wednesday morning following the hyperbolic negativism after the Swindon game, so it is good to log on and see some realism and perspective still exists from you, and Kampuchea Gas and others. I'm going to Huddersfield, as I have family not far away, and looking forward to supporting the team and the manager as I've done since 1967 and hope to carry on doing for a few years yet.

Don’t worry, we’re in the majority it’s just they shout louder According to Radio Bristol MT was booed off on Tuesday whilst the players were applauded by the fans, there's zero evidence that the majority of fans still support MT, if the club announced he's departed this weekend I doubt too many fans would be upset that he'd gone.

I don’t believe these players are as poor as results are showing.

In another world, fans would say it must have been a great team talk. Taylor is damned whatever with some.

I don’t believe these players are as poor as results are showing. Can we at least agree on the facts? Against Burton, substitutes on 50 mins (i thought it was 48/49 mins) were: Ward for Lindsey Forde for Bilongo We then scored in the 52nd and 57th minute. Moore came on for Hunt in the 61st minute Then McCormick and O'Donker came on in the 71st minute Ward then scored in 90 +3 with an O'Donkor assist Ward had two assists and a goal after coming on. On Tuesday night: Bilongo was playing out of position Moore had a poor game - You could be onto something with Moore as I would have expected him to come straight back into the side after the suspension as he was very much part of a decent defensive back three of Moore, Wilson and Bola. McCormick - He hasn't really achieved the same things that he did when he was on loan to us, two relegations in a row on his CV. Had only played 70 mins from the bench before Tuesday? I struggle to accept that they didn't play for the manager. I just think that team on that tuesday night in that weather just didn't perform in the first half. The 2nd half was better and with better finishing, we could have miraculously found ourselves back in the game. Hutchinson had quite a few shots from outside the box, none of them hit the target. Thomas had a couple that missed the target too. For me, that has been the issue so far this season. Some of the shots going in from around the box should be testing the keeper, we are testing the ball boys!

I saw Burton as a fairly even first half followed but a much improved 2nd half from us particularly after Taylor’s subs and we won comfortably.

I don’t think we are different to many other clubs fans -the torrent of abuse from adidick fans after rheir defeat at the mem was huge I guess the difference- their manager took full responsibility for the defeat ! 💙 Nathan Jones spent all his time at Southampton apologising /taking responsibility for the inept performances his team produced week after week. In the end his taking responsibility and apologising meant nothing because it was so insincere, it’s what he does. UTG!

Usual culprits that think they are exclusively in the know when actually they only hear the moanings of some disgruntled employee or player. Pathetic

Should Gerry have been sacked or allowed to build a winning team? He should have been allowed to build a winning team. So should MT. Having watched performances over the course of the last 10 months, I have my doubts about his ability to do this. I hope I`m wrong though, and that the two league wins on the trot are a sign that he may be getting a grip on matters, rather than just being an aberration in his ( so far ) unedifying managerial reign.

I was just thinking about other managers at our level and how they started. Here's the three longest serving managers currently in League One.
Ian Evatt. First full season with Bolton (L2) started P11 W2 D4 L5 (position 20th on Nov 6th) but they finished 3rd (promoted from League Two) then 9th then 5th then 3rd and promoted from League One.
Nigel Clough. First full season with Mansfield (L2) started P14 W2 D5 L7 (position 23rd on Oct 23rd) but they finished seventh (losing playoff finalists), then 8th, then promoted in 3rd.
Jon Brady. Was P20 W5 D6 L9 when he took over at the end of 2020/21 and his first full season with Northampton (L2 2021/22) started P11 W4 D3 L4 (position 14th on Oct 15th). Finished 4th (lost in playoff semis) then 3rd (promoted from League Two) and then 14th in League One.
Yes, they all had different starting scenarios and different objectives. But pretty much all the fans at those clubs would say they have gone on to do a great job after a shaky start...

If MT were to leave I've said here before I think Jon Brady would fit with the club and fan base. In budget too. Not sure how he'd get on with the owners boy though
