Hahahaha. As predicted on the "Why no chairman's message?" thread: the chairman gives a message and people start to pee their pants because it doesn't say what they want it to. Lesson number 1 in being a grown up: things don't just happen because it's what you want. Father Christmas came and left you your presents now be good boys and stop stamping your feet and poking out your tongues. You mean 'people' are wondering why no mention of the biggest (supposedly) ongoing project in the club's history in a rare chairman's report, and you actually called it?? dont start in e he's never wrong

So, xplo,...you didn't like what he did say,.... and you didn't like what he didn't say. Would you have also not liked it he said nothing at all?

But will it attract them if they know they've got to play at the Mem on match days? Is spending £1m at Almondsbury just a smokescreen to cover up the fact we're not spending £50m+ on a new ground? UWE wise the lack of any reference is plainly odd, have talks completely stalled as failing which he'd surely say talks are still ongoing if they were, what's happened to the feasibility report? Is the UWE stadium scheme now effectively dead hence why the Director in charge of the project and the Wembley guy have disappeared? " Is spending £1m at Almondsbury just a smokescreen to cover up the fact we're not spending £50m+ on a new ground?" Funny you should say that, my old man said pretty much the same on Monday. Does the £1m cover the cost of land + building whatever facilities we need on it? If so, that sounds very cheap. Can't buy a house in Clifton with a tiny garden for that!

I guess I was just hoping for some indication the UWE isn't dead in the water, and I also thought DC deserved a bit more credit - considering he's taken a significant amount of heat off of the new ownership. ...but when you put it like that I suppose I do sound hard to please!

If the landing gear was down last year then the plane ran out of fuel and crashed a long time ago.

No I called the fact there would be tears over the chairman's announcement whether there was mention or not because like I said things can't be made to happen just because you want to hear about it.

Does the £1m cover the cost of land + building whatever facilities we need on it? If so, that sounds very cheap. Can't buy a house in Clifton with a tiny garden for that! To begin with there will be up to nine pitches, clubhouse, car park and bicycle park etc. It will then be a grade three training facility. To move up to grade two, it would need one of the pitches to be indoors. That is why it will be over £3m by the time that is built. To become a grade one facility, we would either need to move to a new site, or demolish the motorway. Our new site is 29 acres. To be a grade one facility it needs to be 60 acres.

Thing is, a player spends at least 80% of his time at the training ground, so for the player I'd guess a good training ground >>> a good ground.
With the UWE, the delays seem to imply that the deal originally done was not a good one for BRFC and the stuff going on behind the scenes is an attempt to redress that. It is funny how so many kept faith with the known liar that was our ex chairman yet demand a new ground announcement within ten months of the new regime.

Funny you should say that, my old man said pretty much the same on Monday. well would be an expensive smokescreen.
I don't know how anyone can make a negative out of the fact we 'appear' to be purchasing land and developing a decent training facility of our own.
We all want some positive stadium news, but lets actually take positive news about other things to improve the long term prospects of the club as positive news

"well would be an expensive smokescreen." But less expensive than a new stadium build....

I can't recall Wael announcing when he bought the club the most important thing was a new training ground or fans asking for one to be built, whilst it would be great news combined with progress on the UWE, w/o any news on that front it really is just a side show as far I'm concerned, the club needs a new ground far more than a state of the art training facility.

We need both. yes it's disappointing not to know how (or if) UWE is progressing, but why anyone wants to paint BRFC moving into the 21st century and actually owning it's own training facility as a bad thing I don't know
Just because it's not the news we would all love, doesn't mean it is worthless or a Dam smokescreen. The new owners actually appear to be pushing through with an actual/real project inside being in position for only 10 months. The fact they have to unravel the sh** storm left behind my the previous ownership is hardly their fault

"well would be an expensive smokescreen." But less expensive than a new stadium build.... A smokescreen that wouldn't fool anyone, I don't think the majority of fans would be happy with a training facility and no new stadium for the next ten years. DC signed a new contract because the owners promised him that they would build a new stadium, I don't believe for one moment that the owners intend to renege on that promise.

UWE looks like its dead in the water as both sides cant agree on revised terms. Extremely disappointing.

"We're certainly going the right way, building the infrastructure. That's excited me, with the thought of potentially building a new training ground and a new stadium. "That's why I've committed myself to the long term for the football club." Pretty clear from his interview after signing the contract that he stayed because of the promise of infrastructure.

i would say from the report that the board/owner are not impressed by results this season. were all thinking halfway would be good after 2 promotions but the message implies they think we should be doing better but dont worry as we always come strong in the 2nd half of seasons. pressure is on dc i would say.
