If I were Hamer or Wael after the last few times they'd spoken out, I'd refrain from saying anything until something was contrete based on all the reading between the lines and abuse that has been given for merely updating the fans even if the update is no update.

Just read the below literary masterpiece on One Turd's mammoth Rovers thread.
"Comicle news coming about the UWE stadium coming in the New Year"
The genius responsible for this earth shaker is obviously well connected and in the know.
I fear we will have to prepare ourselves for bad news Gasheads.

You have to wonder what has happened since the q&a when we were led to believe everything was moving along nicely.

Bad news for the UWE might be short term bad news for the clubs future but isn't necessarily bad for the mid to long term future. It may be better to wait an extra year and get a better plot than to get what we want now on a plot which doesn't suit Waels long term vision.
I don't buy the notion that there's nowhere else to build a ground, but it does happen to be the most convenient for a quick turnaround given our existing planning permission and plans.

I said some time ago that we are not as far advanced as some believe with the UWE negotiations.
I reckon we have only recently discussed a price we are prepared to pay for the site. We would only have started negotiations after the Ernest and Young report had been received and digested.
I cannot see anything happening before the end of January at the earliest.
Just my humble opinion.

Well I'm normally the one who says "chill" and "give it time" etc but the fact that there is no mention at all is pretty poor. Let's be honest the only thing fans want to know about from the chairmans message is 20% training ground and 80% what the f**ks happening with the UWE. If the situation is the same then something along the the lines of "still currently in talks with UWE, update when anything substantial happens" as a minimum would suffice. Poor show IMO. If it's dead why not tell us, or if it's ongoing why not tell us that as aswell. Can someone educate me as to why that's not possible.

I'm quite happy with the status quo: "we'll tell you when we're ready to and it suits us".

If we were demanding weekly updates then fair enough, but we haven't heard a peep for months and months after being led to believe things were coming along nicely. But for the chairman to issue an end of year report with no reference AT ALL to the new stadium, I find somewhat insulting as a fan.

I'm with Weal, the deal has to be right for Bristol Rovers. More than happy with a refurbished Mem, seems to be easier than starting afresh. Really happy with the training ground progress, it's going to be a real asset for our club.

Unless the stadium is delivered the training ground and academy will be a waste of time.

Unless the stadium is delivered the training ground and academy will be a waste of time. Why?
The Al-Qadi's have been here 10 months and are expected to pull the UWE out of their arse. All we really know is the UWE project was obviously never as good as what we were sold by NH and co in the first place/what it would have ended up being/costing the club
We need a stadium. No one disputes that. If it isn't UWE, you do wonder where it could be, but a training facility and academy can no way be a bad thing for the club. The same people moaning will probably be moaning in a few years time we don't bring any local kids through if we don't build an academy

Unless the stadium is delivered the training ground and academy will be a waste of time. It would be a little bit like building a fancy garage when the house is falling apart. Though reading the chairman's report carefully, there's nothing that suggests to me they're going to be pressing ahead with it asap. I guess the training ground project would've been initiated at a time when the UWE seemed more like a goer?

It seems that some people are basically saying The Mem is sh**, everything else might as well be
As The Mem is sh** and no new ground, making a training ground/academy pointless we might as well go further and not spend any money on the team as we don’t need a better team to play in a sh** stadium, may as well get rid of the extra medical bods and the food after training. Obviously not needed. We don’t need to improve anything at the moment because we are currently building a ground

As others have said before, people only want news when it is good news. People are moaning on here that there is no news, but if there was bad news then the forum would be in meltdown.
My gut feeling is that the feasibility report has come back and the UWE deal wasn't all it was made out to be so we are looking at alternative options or negotiating a better price. Why would anyone want us to rush things and get a poor deal or be ripped off? I have a lot more faith in the current board to get the best deal for the club than the last one.
I also can't understand how anyone can see the new training ground as a negative thing. I don't think us getting the training ground has any impact on whether or not we get a new stadium, no one has said it is an either/or. Therefore, what happens with the stadium is irrelevant to the training ground, 'a state of the art' training ground is a great asset and a positive thing for the club, so don't take it as anything but that. UTG!
