"DC signed a new contract because the owners promised him that they would build a new stadium" Really? Got any proof of this, or just a bloke in the pub said? "We're certainly going the right way, building the infrastructure. That's excited me, with the thought of potentially building a new training ground and a new stadium. "That's why I've committed myself to the long term for the football club." Pretty clear from his interview after signing the contract that he stayed because of the promise of infrastructure. Potentially in DC's words, and a promise in your words. Potential & promise are 2 completely different words.

Can never please Rovers fans. Do you seriously want him to come out and say "We're still talking to UWE about the stadium to get the best deal for the club but as of yet no update", or similar, so you can then have a moan about how circumstances haven't changed?
Do you really think these things happen over night? How long did it take the old regime just to even get as far as they did?

Would people prefer Wael to sign away a large chunk of match day revenue etc to get the deal done? Let's face it, his predecessors were cowboys, and unpicking the unholy mess will take time, if it can be done at all.

Are we talking about the same Nicolas Higgs and friends? The ones who failed the stadium regeneration, then failed to check a simple contract that then allowed Sainsbury's to screw them re the Mem sale. All while mismanaging the club to huge debts and relegation out of the league.

Pretty sure we were in big debt before Higgs took over. And also because Rovers preferred student accommodation providers had pulled out of the project to help finance the redevelopment of the Mem, that's Higgs fault too, is it?

He got UWE going, but unlike the watertight contract with Sainsburys, there has never been one with UWE full stop

DC wouldn't still be here without the owners reaffirming their commitment to building infrastructure though would he? The quote makes it pretty clear. My original point still stands.

Of course it doesn't. In your words DC said the UWE is potential. Why would he stay if he's told the UWE is potentially going to be built? A few managers turned Leeds down, I'm sure a nice 3 year contract helped him to stay.

Very poor in my opinion that no mention was made about the UWE. Why a simple, "all is progressing well' comment could not have been included certainly makes one wonder if indeed there are problems. I would consider myself to be quite patient but the wall of silence is a very poor show as far as I am concerned, unless a new years day announcement as has been suggested is on the cards.

Nick Higgs, at the point that arrangments had already been made for us to play at Whaddon Road, still didn't have the student accommodation providers contractually obliged to their part of the mem redevelopment project. So yes, at least some responsibility fall on his shoulders.

Got it going - hadn't signed a contract with them because he bungled the sale of the Memorial Stadium then wasted loads of the club's money on a failed lawsuit. As of the day Wael took over the UWE was a drawing and nothing more. It does make me laugh reading how Wael is expected to deliver in minutes when people were happy to wave Nick through another failure and another set of excuses, time after time.

If he wasn't going to mention the most important issue in the eyes of most fans he shouldn't have made a statement at all. More will be made of what wasn't said than what was.

A few managers turned Leeds down, I'm sure a nice 3 year contract helped him to stay. My point was that the owners wanted to build the stadium, which they still would regardless if DC was promised or simply felt it likely to happen. I think DC meant that the ingredients are already at the club for the UWE to happen (owners who want to build it) not that there is a likely chance that it could or could not happen, who cares tbh, the club are at last making the right step forward which is all that matters.

i would say from the report that the board/owner are not impressed by results this season. were all thinking halfway would be good after 2 promotions but the message implies they think we should be doing better but dont worry as we always come strong in the 2nd half of seasons. pressure is on dc i would say. What a load of BS
