Can we keep the stirring up race-hate posts down a little bit please, otherwise I'll move this to General Ignorance Chat. Thanks. Impartial moderation. I knew this would happen. Didn;t take long. Bad choice for extreme leftists to be made mod, ban me please, I don't give a sh** if this is what the future holds.

Love Ali G No, it's because I don't think I am better than anyone else , in fact I know I am not, I could have been black for all he knew, but it's okay to bandy around such terms it seems.

It's a shame about Gregorystevens as I think he is having some problems at the moment and IMHO should have been cut some slack. Could I ask a Mod to mail him and have a little chat ?

What do you think was unreasonable about what I posted? Implying General chat users are ignorant is a start. Moving the artical is not a problem, it's your problem with the post by Pirate. Which is more serious than why the 'minority's dont go to Rovers. sh** stirring articals like these should be binned straight away not after someone posts a reply. General Ignorance was just a silly joke nickname for General Chat. Didn't realise people would take it personally. I imagine if I had made the joke outside of a mod post no-one would have cared, so lesson learned. I agree that sh** stirring articles can go quickly, and I might be inclined to do that (although not sure this one was one). But for everyone who takes that view, I guarantee that there is another poster who would cry foul and censorship! That's why istm moving to GC was the best solution. For contrast, if you look at the other forum's version of this thread that one has gone quite well so far, so evidence that it can be done. I don't have a problem with pirate making that post but it clearly refers to race-hate or race-war or multiculturalist tensions or whatever broad term you would like to use for racial differences at this time. I just think it's clearly GC material.

It's such a shame that these sort of things can't be discussed without people going to extremes and throwing histrionics if challenged in any way.

Ok, going to try and get this back on topic because I think it's an interesting topic and the season hasn't started yet.
Obviously it would be a bit of work for the club to undertake a survey regarding this. It might be worthwhile having a poll here, with comments disabled which ask the question of what race the Gaschat user base is. It would be a small data set, but I've seen smaller for surveys which are intended for a larger audience.
The result could be passed onto the author or the club for research.

Surely in a properly inclusive and non racist world we wouldn't ask this sort of thing. I couldn't give a sh**e what colour or race or sexual orientation anyone is on Gaschat. Positive discrimination is holding back progress.

Positive discrimination is holding back progress. And that is a very important point! This whole labeling and targeting is just wrong. If we encourage Muslims, does that mean that Jewish people may feel uncomfortable, or will the LGBT community not turn up! Has the campaign to stamp out homophobia in football resulted in fewer Muslims turning up? Who knows what unintended consequences there are with these campaigns. Don't target groups, target people, people of any race, creed, religion or whatever, just target people !

Positive discrimination is holding back progress. If there are reasons why the club isn't attracting maximum exposure in terms of race, I feel that it should be looked into. It's fine to say that we don't care about race and everyone should feel welcome - I agree, but it isn't productive if individuals aren't turning up and spending money. Unfortunately the answer is not just to say "Rovers are an inclusive club". Either fans or the club itself need to go out there and ask the questions, do research and try and influence as many people as possible to be a Gashead.

Knowing the value (or lack thereof) of the data you collect should be an important starting point (and a precursor to the data collection). I'd be interested to know what end the authors wanted to address and why. I wonder if they've considered that themselves

Hi Nobby, long time no speak (I'm from the old, old OF) Hope you're well and the Germans are looking after you. I agree that the ideal situation would be to target people in general, but I feel that current society and cultural differences we have in the West make that difficult. At the moment there are movements in the US education system who are going backwards by segregating races and social genders. We don't need this stupid political ideology in football. If done carefully, I feel it's possible for the club to increase the fanbase without issues on matchday.

So is ours, it's down to Left leaning teachers only teaching a left leaning education, very sad that they put children through this, they can't read or write but they are told which party to vote for !

In 2016 more Liverpool shirts were sold in Bristol than they were in Liverpool. Good point raised regarding shirts you can go into any well known high street sports shop anywhere in the country and buy a top premiership shirt off the peg and even some of the top european sides it would be nice to see the sport shop chains supporting the local sides in their catchment areas
