Many on here, including myself, have consoled ourselves with the thought that the points gained under GC have given us a cushion to fall back on.
10 games to go, 30 points to play for. Forget Bolton and Southend, they're as good as gone.
Tranmere are 13 points behind us, with a game in hand; so that could be 10.
We have to play all 4 teams currently in the play-off zone; Oxford, Peterborough, Sunderland and Portsmouth, and chuck in Ipswich as well!
I'm trying to see where we will pick up points playing the way we are. If I had to bet I think we'll be OK, though for a team which was within a whisker of being second not so long ago that's not good enough.
To be sure of being safe we need to ditch the BG experiment now. It was brave but it hasn't worked and shows no sign of doing so. To be frank anything would be better. Put a combination of Hargreaves/ Maher/ Mansell in charge now until the end of the season.

The thing that worries me is that day we lost to Mansfield there were over 30 possible outcomes of the days results and only 2 combinations would see us relegated, yet it happened....
We need to pick up points, and pick them up quick because if the gap gets closer as the games get fewer its going to be a real concern....

We are definitely bad enough to go down. The question is simply whether Tranmere are good enough to close the gap.
If they win 5/6 more games I think we could well be down. 7 and I'd be tempted to put my house on it.

For me were are the worst side in the league now by far..Since BG has come in he has destoryed our side which was a top 6 one before.
If we keep with BG from now until the end of next season we are 100% down and finish bottom.
If Tranmere get within 6/7 point of us with 6 games left this season and BG is still here we are down.

I can't see us getting out of this downward spiral at the mo - am even thinking of Not going to the Pomey game as I dont think I could handle the shame.

It seems that the regular irrational arguments/comments/calls in the past about getting rid of managers that are soon followed by the far more reasoned "who would we get in to replace him?" now look a far more reasonable call. I can't see how anyone (or no one) could possibly be any worse than what we have now, or are there some who still think we could do worse?

Tranmere will not see us as a target. But they have Blackpool next mid-table, then 6 pointers against MK Dons, Wombles, Rochdale, and Lincoln. They can get 8 points from those games.

If someone told me we could have Paul Buckle back to replace Ben Garner I'd honestly be tempted to take it. I'd certainly have Atkins back over him - made a few very good signings! Think that says it all.

Yeah I'm gonna be following the Tranmere score with very keen eyes tomorrow. I'm genuinely terrified. Their next 4 are all winnable and ours are nearly all guaranteed losses

Not sure the board are too bothered whether we go down or not. Save on wages, chances of having a decent season and good crowds makes financial sense in some eyes.

We are still 150/1 with the bookies. Which is crazy really considering I got 250/1 ages ago and we've hardly picked up any points since then. If Tranmere were to go on a run then who knows, but we should be ok, just.

Tranmere have struggling Blackpool, followed by fellow relegation candidates Lincoln, Rochdale and AFC Wimbledon. We’ve got Sunderland, Ipswich and Peterborough. If we don’t pick up any points in that time and Tranmere get a minimum of 7, which is possible, then we will really start to look over our shoulders. If not then we will be safe.

the players are sh** and come the end of the season the cream rises to the top, look at Wycombe they are sh** really and won’t finish in the top 10 similar gc ball If you think we ever had a chance of finishing in top 6 your mad,we had soooo much luck of the Irish it’s unbelievable,we are now where I thought we would be at start of the season we have zero quality I’m sorry to say The way the players have treated garner is sh**,first time manager and seems a knowledgeable bloke You would think think players would try their best and give the bloke a chance but no I can imagine they only listen if they got the gc hair dryer at ht after another sh** first half I would give garner the summer to get out all the overpaid crap stealing a living and get players in that will suit his style and play for the shirt There will be a lot of our players struggling to find a club next season cause the ain’t worth anything, would rather play kids

Hey Paddy, what odds will you give me for Stefan Payne to relegate the Gas on the final day of the season by scoring the winning goal in Tranmeres last game?

These same players who you call "sh**" managed to get us up to 4th in the league (not to mention the results for the 2nd part last season). Ben Garner was allowed to bring plenty of his own players in Jan, in fact way more than I expected whilst hardly any outgoings. Barrett for example seems like he doesn't look after himself off the pitch yet we rushed to sign him at the start of Jan. Ben Garner is clearly no up to the job, he is so far out of his depth it's unbelieveable. Could anyone on here actually do any worse? No experience, no leadership, no personality, no results, excuses galore. I'm sure he's a nice bloke but football manager he is not.

BG can't motivate me so go knows how he's going to motivate them. Anyway he bought plenty of his own players in if that's the problem.
